201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 9/01 Update: KeyOS RC1, KeyTrader v2 on: September 12, 2014, 02:27:38 AM
What are the reasons such jumps in the price?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=741728.msg8784778#msg8784778

Take from this what you want, but I am no longer supporting Keycoin.
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Halcyon - x15 POS - Roadmap - Infographic - PeerSend - Update on: September 12, 2014, 02:09:23 AM
First of all, I was a KEY supporter since the beginning and I also bought a little bit into HAL.  Not trying to FUD as I have made my profits and have sincerely supported Keycoin (see my post history) but now I'm out for the time being and here's why:

Not sure what to make of it, but I just realized something.  I was never involved in Crypt, but right now I have a very strange feeling that the anon tech that was promised to be delivered for Crypt was actually delivered for Keycoin.  And then a month ago Keycoin devs (or rather, "Pr0m3theus") said that they were working on a decentralized anon, but they have not said a word about it since.  (Source: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=695457.msg8237412#msg8237412)

I get the feeling that this decentralized anon is actually this one here that was delivered for Hal.

Again, not trying to imply anything, but there seems to be some connections here.  Could be just a coincidence, but definitely seems weird...  Also, not to mention this "Pr0m3theus" person has been involved in and/or hyped up all 3 coins (Crypt, Key, Hal):  https://twitter.com/_pr0m3theus_

So to all the honest investors:  All I can say is be cautious.

should be a good thing then right? cuz that would mean HAL has the decent anon system that was worked on for months

Yes, it's good on the surface.  But if all I said is true, then I don't like the way the devs operate.  Can't just abandon one coin and jump to the next (which is pretty much what happened, if true).  It's rather distasteful.

Really impressive work, congrats to the devs. He not only delivers on time, but with working technology. How can the price be so low?

At this point i would imagine it's slowly being dumped by the same people responsible for all the hype surrounding it (those who bought the coin by the shitloads when it was first listed, you know who i mean Tongue ) which is a real shame since the project has a lot going for it,it's a good coin with good working tech and solid dev

I think you're right.  There aren't enough people who are in it for the long term and there are too many pump and dumpers in on it from the beginning. It's actually a striking similarity to Keycoin. Pretty much the same pump and dumpers hyping both coins up if you look at twitter. It's kind of a shame since both coins are pretty legit in regards to tech and development.
205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 9/01 Update: KeyOS RC1, KeyTrader v2 on: September 07, 2014, 02:30:56 PM
In case anyone has been out of the loop, it looks like Dan Metcalf plans to release his code review for both Halcyon and Stealthcoin today.  This is not only good news for those coins, but also very good news for Key.  Dan is now considered a part of the key dev team (he manages the KeyOS) and Key also happens to be the first coin (that I know of) that he code reviewed.  As his reputation grows in the community, so will the reputation of Keycoin (and obviously his own coin, XC).  These are exciting times.

206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 9/01 Update: KeyOS RC1, KeyTrader v2 on: September 05, 2014, 03:41:23 PM
Dan developed his own bootable OS for XC almost two months ago, well before KEYOS. It was released by him to the XC community as the XC TorStick .ISO:

http://downloads.xc-official.com/release/xc-torstick/XCurrency_livecd_X86_v2.47h.iso

This, I'm sure, is precisely why the KEY team came to Dan for his expertise.

In fact, I wouldn't be here holding any KEY if it weren't for Dan's involvement with KEYOS.

That's interesting, I did not know that.  Definitely a good thing to have someone with experience in it to help with the development.

Did you happen to find the solution to your wallet problem yet?
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 9/01 Update: KeyOS RC1, KeyTrader v2 on: September 05, 2014, 01:12:07 PM
I have one other concern that's been bugging me. I noticed that the KEYOS download link is through XC?:  http://downloads.xc-official.com/atcsecure/KEYOS_PROJECT/
Am I gonna wake up one day and find that there's going to be a copy and paste XCOS? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to hear about Dan Metcalf's involvement with the project, but point I'm getting at is... is this KEYOS exclusively for Keycoin or is it something where we will see other coins copy and paste it and utilize it themselves. I'd think that the dev's for KeyCoin would want all their hard work secure and locked away for the sake of the value of the coin.

I'd like to see this coin as a commodity - kind of hard not to be with 914,000 coins. A 'gentlemans & lady's club' commodity coin - so to speak - where holders get the use of multiple features per amount of coin they hold and stake. Like Traderbot "standard", Traderbot "advanced" or Traderbot "premium - and likewise with KeyOS, different levels of coin holding unlock different and exclusive features. Dev's could also set up a stake system where a percentage of the coins minted go to funding the dev's new developments. And And of course don't forget a custom USB stick for sale via crypto or fiat.

Am I on the same page as the rest of you guys or am I off the deep end... Thoughts?

Well, KeyOS is largely based on the TAILS OS, which is open source.  So the resources have already been there for anyone out there with the knowledge to recreate something similar to KeyOS for their own coin.  It's just that Keycoin happens to be the first to do it.  I think there were a couple coins in the past that had plans to do it but never followed through.  Ultimately, it will be the apps/tools that will set keycoin apart.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 9/01 Update: KeyOS RC1, KeyTrader v2 on: September 05, 2014, 04:52:00 AM
It is Sept 4th, 6 weeks after I told pr0m, on the original KEY ANN, I would apologize if KEY hadn't been dumped and left with a history similar to crypt.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=695457.msg8010301;topicseen#msg8010301

For all the holders, I really like the KEY OS idea and several other features, and was hoping I would have to eat some crow.  But I know some people are holding from 300k.  And I am sorry for you.

But pr0m, with KEY sitting here @ 30k...

GL KEY, Sincerely.  I thinks this is one of the undervalued, good coins.

Nice to see you keep your promise and come back.  I agree with you about Key being a good coin and prices being somewhat terrible for what it is.  But who is to blame for this? Maybe all the damn pump and dumpers on twitter hyping everything up like they always do?  I don't know.  It is rather annoying to see such a good coin at this low of a price.  It certainly raises some concerns that I hope will somehow be addressed if Keycoin were hoping to achieve and maintain a higher market cap.
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 9/01 Update: KeyOS RC1, KeyTrader v2 on: September 04, 2014, 10:49:27 PM
Sorry you are having difficulties with anonymous transactions! Please check the guide posted at http://keycoincrypto.com/index.php/guides/61-sending-anonymous-transactions-using-the-keycoin-wallet-gui and let us know if there are further issues. This method was just tested successfully from a wallet with no funds currently tied to the address labeled "anon" but we are happy to help if you still have trouble.

A sample keycoin.conf file can also be found at http://keycoincrypto.com/index.php/guides/62-creating-and-saving-keycoin-conf-windows-os.

Thank you to the community for helping each other out!

Maybe about time the website gets updated with new content and guides for KeyOS, KeyTrader, etc.?

Seems like some of the Keycoin features are getting recognition from more and more people, even those who are not so tech oriented.  I'd say that's pretty good news.
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 8/22 Update: FUD, KeyTrader2, KeyOS. on: September 04, 2014, 07:14:58 PM
I can't open the Mac wallet. I download it, double-click it, and then nothing. This happens with a lot of QT coin wallets - not just KEY. I'd love to get my KEY off Bittrex and stake it. Can anyone help?

Yea I'm having my own issues as well... Anon transaction in wallet doesn't work, I get "Failed, code -6" error. I downloaded the KEYOS download link and can't get it to install. I have win 7 64 bit

What's up?

Not sure about the wallet issues.  As for the OS, you're suppose to burn the image file onto a usb drive or a cd/dvd and boot it up from there.  I used this program for the bootable usb drive route:  http://rufus.akeo.ie/
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 8/22 Update: FUD, KeyTrader2, KeyOS. on: September 04, 2014, 04:27:12 PM
KEY is a very limited resource growing at a snail's pace. If people just hold their coins instead of day trading them for short term BTC gains their value can only go up in the future.

I completely agree with this statement.  Features are coming out at a faster pace than the relative increase in coins.  Remember, Keycoin is only about 7 weeks old!

I think BTCD is a great example of holding and maintaining value.  If anyone here has been following them, they've had 2 big pumps and they were subsequently able to maintain a large percentage of the price increase.  And they haven't even released any of their big features yet! This is all because they have a lot of people who hold and believe in the project (based on what I can gather from their forum posts).

I think keycoin devs have demonstrated so far that they are committed to this project with their delivery on all their big promises so far (anon, keytrader, keyOS).  So just hold if you believe they will continue to deliver and price will surely increase.  Go day trade some other coin.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 8/22 Update: FUD, KeyTrader2, KeyOS. on: September 04, 2014, 12:17:21 AM
IMHO nobody really cared about using KeyOS, investors we're excited with what it could do to the price, thats all. So as soon as it rose they exited with x2 or x3 profit. Hopefully it does better since alot of coins have switched hands. 40k isnt bad if you got in at 20k a few days ago

As of now, KeyOS is just a platform, so I agree that it by itself does not really offer any use for most people.  I think the true test of functionality will be the apps and tools that the devs (or the community) are going to integrate into the OS.  Imagine if the Windows OS didn't have all the apps/programs for it (Office, etc.).  So we will have to wait and see.

Dev, any plans to join the jl777's supernet...seems to me KEY might be a nice candidate to occupy a niche within the core of the supernet.

I've also been following BTCD and was wondering this as well.  It all does seem very intriguing.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Jesse Livermore: Whale Watcher on: September 03, 2014, 04:29:03 PM
@Jesse Livermore:

Have just recently been introduced to your thread.  Read through all your comments on this thread and through some of your previous posts in your history (sorry for being a stalker).  You seem very professional and know what you're talking about.  Definitely peaked my interest.  Would like to hear what you think about Keycoin.
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 8/22 Update: FUD, KeyTrader2, KeyOS. on: September 03, 2014, 11:03:21 AM
No sorry the coin is doomed I fear

holding pattern - coming in for landing and its not on the moon.  Bottom is about to drop out of this unfortunately.

The keyOS is a curiosity - not something that more than a few 100 will use.  Interesting and commendable divergence but not going to add any value to the coin when people have a close look.

I'm out - up to your individual choices.

Could our coin possibly be a top-5 total market value coin in 12 months?
(This would suggest perhaps $100/coin!!) Thoughts? thnx.

 Cry Cry

Your loss pal! This ain't your run of the mill shitcoin and with less than a million out there its gonna go well past $2 a coin within the next month or two. Hell, Cloakcoin hit over $1 per coin with 450% more coins than this one and that was all on the PROMISE of anon - didn't even deliver before the insider trading tore it apart. Do the math on KEY, you will make a very tidy profit indeed ;-)

Yeah don't know why some are so impatient.  KeyOS has only been out for a little over a day and as already stated, this OS is just the first release candidate. Still lots of things that will get ironed out and some of the main features have not even been added yet. KeyTrader 2.0 is on the horizon.

Regardless of what anyone thinks about the OS, I think we can all agree that this dev team can definitely deliver. That alone is worth a lot.
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 8/22 Update: FUD, KeyTrader2, KeyOS. on: September 02, 2014, 01:28:04 PM
The ultimate goal is to get more people to adopt the currency and use it to purchase goods and services right? Or is this coin designed for trading use only? Also many have no reason to trade anonymously? I'm curious to where the dev wants this coin to go?

The way I see it, until Bitcoin reaches mass adoption, no other coin can hope to reach that level.  It's been over 5 years and Bitcoin is still not quite there yet, let alone a very new coin such as Keycoin.  Any altcoin that claims to be able to reach mass adoption before Bitcoin does is just dreaming, imo.

My point is that for the time being, I think Keycoin is targeting the right audience.  Crypto trading has become very popular and will continue to grow in popularity simply because it is very easy to start for those who are somewhat tech savvy and the prospect of making lots of money very quickly makes it something that is highly desirable.  Compare it to the stock market, which is a lot harder to begin and you have to wait a lot longer for profits.  It's just the psychology of the world these days; we all want everything to be quick.

And as far as anonymous trading goes, I see this as more of a future precaution.  Right now crypto trading is completely unregulated.  Imagine if at some point, governments decide to intervene and put in regulations.  We all would want a safe place to trade without having to deal with all that.  Also, there are many people out there who just simply don't want their identity known and their actions traceable.

And let's not forget, they haven't released KeyTrader 2.0 yet.  I think this is also planned for this week.
216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 9/1 Update: KeyOS RC1 on: September 02, 2014, 10:23:56 AM

KEY Operating System RC1 - Download at http://downloads.xc-official.com/atcsecure/KEYOS_PROJECT/

Hey guys, it comes with great excitement and a sense of accomplishment that we release the platform on which we will host many of our future services.

In collaboration with Dan Metcalf (ATC_Secure), the core developer of XCurrency, we have created the only non-TAILS operating system environment (based on lubuntu 14.04) that supports full Tor routing. This means all network traffic - not just browser traffic - is routed through the Tor network, ensuring that none of your applications reveal your online identity.

Things to come in the short-term for KeyOS:
- Continued Security and Hardening by Dan Metcalf
- Cold Storage integration
- Keytrader V 2.0 with trading support for all alts and market mover tools
- Decentralized & Anonymous social networking
- In-OS trading GUI with charts and analytical tools
- In-wallet exchange platform
- Trading guide on the management of personal trading psychology, entry and exit calculations (support and resistance), and other trading essentials written by Pr0m3theus
+ More

Notes on KeyOS:
Please note this is KeyOS RC1, as in Release Candidate. It is a testing release and there is no persistent storage of your wallet.dat file yet.

***If you send funds to the KeyOS wallet be sure to BACK UP all wallets or transfer funds out of your wallet before powering off KeyOS!!!***

Please feel free to message us with security concerns or questions, your feedback is encouraged! We are making continuous improvements to the distribution and we will be sure to take care of any loose ends in RC2.

Nice.  Looks like there is a lot of both short-term and long-term potential here.  There's only so much you can build onto a coin, but with an entire OS, the possibilities are endless.  I know the technology is important and all, but I'd like to hear how you guys plan to market this.  Is the selling of custom made USB sticks with OS on it still in the works?  Once a more polished version of the OS is out, it would be a shame not to sell it as an actual product (on the website, amazon, ebay, etc.)
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 8/22 Update: FUD, KeyTrader2, KeyOS. on: September 02, 2014, 03:02:13 AM
No official statement yet. My guess is there will be one either soon or sometime tomorrow, since tomorrow was actually the planned release date.

Ok, does an unofficial statement exist? I'm not currently an investor, but should I consider becoming one, this release is DOA imo and would need quite a lot of work before I would buy.

Nothing that I think would provide the info you seek. Which is why I've been urging devs to release a statement and give us more in depth info about the release.  Guess we will just have to be patient.

Edit: or I guess you can always direct your concerns to Dan Metcalf of XC since he's the guy in charge of the security
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 8/22 Update: FUD, KeyTrader2, KeyOS. on: September 02, 2014, 02:52:33 AM
Can someone direct me to any official KeyOS statements about the purpose and extent of security measures the OS is supposed to provide/achieve?

Just doing a quick security audit and I see several things which need to be addressed before I would even think about using KeyOS outside of testing purposes.

TIA

No official statement yet. My guess is there will be one either soon or sometime tomorrow, since tomorrow was actually the planned release date.

Also from what I understand, the OS that was uploaded onto the XC server is still not the official release

Again, I don't think the true pump has happened yet.  Those who are aware know that people are willing to buy at much higher prices. Just one month ago, there were people willing to buy at over 200k and that was without KeyOS and KeyTrader.
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | 8/22 Update: FUD, KeyTrader2, KeyOS. on: September 02, 2014, 01:24:47 AM
Here it is guys, and as proof it's a metcalf project in joint with key, we hosted it on XC servers. One minor thing to note, you must open the wallet twice as each time the OS is launched it generates new wallet files. It will error the first time and open proper the second. Enjoy!

http://downloads.xc-official.com/atcsecure/KEYOS_PROJECT/

Awesome.  Can devs do an official update/statement just so everyone is on the same page with what's going on?
