1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any good bang for your buck cards for ether mining? on: September 18, 2021, 06:21:50 PM

If you want to start big I always suggest starting with a RTX 3080 as a single card like this can make you like near 200 dollars profit with today prices, prices of a such card is really high now but if you want to start aggressively this is the way to go.You can add another card after some time have passed.

Aren't these LHR though?

Only downside I'm seeing to this is the monthly fees I have to pay.

Thinking I might load up Ubuntu Desktop, install AMD drivers and then run lolminer.

How many rigs do you have?  1 rig is always free with HiveOS.

I play around with Linux on and off.  But would running from a USB stick work?  I guess I'm thinking in terms of Windows here, but it seems you need to have enough virtual memory space or HD space to accommodate the DAG.  Not a problem within one of these like HiveOS?  Just put on USB, boot and load lolminer?

Seems like dark magic you speak of.

HiveOS & Simplemining are both intended to run from USB sticks but can also be run from hard drives if you wish, I run HiveOS from an SSHD.

So that's a question I have.  I'm looking to move my RX570 off Win10 and into Linux.  Is there a preferred flavour of linux? Can I go with Mint over Ubuntu?

Is there a walkthrough of preferred Linux settings (i haven't really found one. mostly Windows ones)

Why not try one of the specific mining Linux OS's such as HiveOS, Simplemining, etc. no need to struggle learning Linux, and these can run from USB sticks if you wish so no need to loose your Windows installation.

--4g-alloc-size 4080 have to be put it in extra parameteres (for HiveOS), it will automatic detect which cards are 4Gb and which ones not. If 4080 don't work go step by step down until works 4078, 4076, 4074, ...

How do you disable auto tune? and is there a way of knowing what allocation size auto tune is using?

Mine says --Zombie tune 15.5

Thank you.

how do i set it if i have another GPU that's 580 8GB ? I only want to set it to the 470 4gb

Sorry not sure on that, but does it not only apply that to the 4gb automatically?

If not you may need to specify the 4gb card using --devices 0,1 for example

I've not added any other info but I think you need to edit the Flight Sheet and setup miner config and enter the details in extra config arguments.

This shows my overclocking info on my gaming pc

I tried hiveOS with lolminer 1.22.. I am using rx470 4GB.. I only can get 18mh/s.. is there any ways I can tweak to get it over 25mh? My card is on PCIe 16X slot directly.

Have you setup the overclocking?

Can someone help me with this.
I still mine on 4Gb GPUs and when I set --eth_epoch=374 to test I get about 10 MH/s
When I remove that and start to mine I get only 1.3 MH/s.
Why is that?

With 4gb cards you would be better off using lolminer v1.22 as they give a hashrate of about 26 mh/s.

I'm now getting around 27 mhs an increase of 10, pretty amazing. Cool

Can you provide us with the configuration you have? What card? How much RAM you have? Is the card on risers or Is It mounted directly to the mobo? What mobo?

Sure, this is now my only 4gb card and is in my general use pc which normally runs as a Hackintosh running Big Sur but when not in use I boot into HiveOS

The card is a Sapphire RX 570 4gb (Elpida memory) one click bios modded mounted on motherboard in 16x pcie slot.
motherboard = GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 (rev. 1.0)
Memory 16gb

Overclock settings in HiveOS = core 1100, DPM 2, VDD 900, Mem 1950, Ref 20.

Beginning to wish I hadn't sold my other 4gb cards now, lol.

thank you i dont know what should write in config to run zambi mod i wrote it but dont start to mine ver 1.22
--zombie-tune
--4g-alloc-size 4080

Zombie mode should start automatically no settings needed.

Cheesy With lolminer 1.22 4GB card hashrates are so high that I don't even want to reveal them any more, because it would drive 4GB video cards aftermarket prices through the roof.

Yes well done to the dev team that is a sure nice increase.   Grin

Now is there anyway to do the same for 8gb cards, lol.

I can't find that option on this board
bios version is P3.90

It should be in the Boot Screen options

Have you enabled Above 4G Decoding in bios?

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any use for small GPU machine? on: January 17, 2021, 12:39:45 PM
Thanks for the reply, I have decided to sell it.

Any recommendation what can I use to wipe the hard disk? there might be some wallet information on it.

I would be tempted to run the miner for a while using HiveOS, Simpleminer or Nicehash OS and see what it earns.

If you really want to wipe your hard disk give this  a try : https://www.diskwipe.org/

It's still worthwhile for a few weeks, I am getting a hashrate of about 22mh/s at the moment but that will drop to 16mh/s from the 21st Jan.

As other have said probably worth trying to sell any 4gb cards to buy 8gb cards.
