ETH CLASSIC (ETC) DEVS RESET THEIR DAG TO AN EARLIER EPOCH--

And, a "zipped" ETH DAG would need to be unzipped prior to use in calculation.  It won't work.  It would require more work and the use of system memory external to the 4GB VRAM.       --scryptr

Really amazing work! Got my 580 4G back to 28 Mhs.

How will this behave over time, how much hashrate is lost with each DAG size increase?

would like to know too.. how long until the dag size increases again until it won't work with 4GB card again?
No one knows. It all depends on Lollie for his/her magic lol.

The 4GB card on Riser is still losing hashrate every dag size increase. Card on x16 is also losing hashrate but I feel like it's doing slower than the one on riser.

Dag 393 = 27mh/s
Dag 400 = 21-22mh/s
Dag 405 = 14mh/s
Dag 415 = 5-6mh/s

I expect that by 405-415 most rigs will be off eth or at least the non long slot cards.  Because regular zombie is already around the 405 dag slowdown...so a little longer...which is still awesome...but SOON.

I was thinking...
On ETC they made an implementation that "zip" the DAG file. So 4G are back to the game.. Is there a way that the miner do this steps:
1 - Download the original ETH DAG
2 - "ZIP" this DAG
3 - Run on "ziped" DAG the miner on 4g cards

I am not a developer, but i think my idea make sense

The algo was changed for ETC that solution will not work..

Hi everyone
I am experiencing a strange behavior since “super zombie mode” (or something else which seams to be related to szm to me) :
- my estimated hash rate raised to 24+ (with r560 4g overclocked to 985-2225)
- my average hash rate is lower than 6 now (it was around 12 before szm)

Can you tell me if I’ve done something wrong ?

Note : lowering the OC values give me the same kind of gap between estimated hash rate et average hash rate...

Additional information which may be required for better understanding :
The cpu is a Xeon 1240
I have 12gigs of ram ddr3 1600
The Rx560 is connected on the MB directly

the dag size will be over 4096 by feb 21? so by the time 4GB card won't work at all again?

anyone has an estimation??

I am testing lolMiner 1.22 (linux) with 40 GPU's (all 480/580/570 4G)

Resuts:

1) All speeds are always better than TRM
2) There are no rule to get better hashrates some cards go to 15MHz, some to 13MHZ, one goes to 25Mhz and other identical card on identical Mobo goes to 13MHz...

I think it will be nice to have a special instructions detailed for us to get the better hash on 4G GPU's.

PS: Enable 3Gen PCI not always meaning more hash on my tests

One of the important things is the PCIx8 or PCIx16... so that is also a bottleneck, lot of cards will give also a bottleneck if all the PCILanes are used... These is the reason why sometimes only 1 card is giving the max perfomance too...

The autotune made by the developer is great, but normally is hardware bottleneck.

so, it has nothing to do with the driver version or a specific linux kernel version?

but the readme file says
Quote
The higher this parameter is choosen the more memory for a partial dag lolMiner is allowed to use. Thus the speed on your 4G cards will increase significantly. Given a recent driver (e.g. amdgpu-pro 20.30 or 20.40) and the right Linux kernel (best is 5.4 at the moment), you can almost always set a value of 4078, on many rigs even 4080. Older drivers or other Linux kernels may require significantly lower values and will perform slower.

So that's a question I have.  I'm looking to move my RX570 off Win10 and into Linux.  Is there a preferred flavour of linux? Can I go with Mint over Ubuntu?

Is there a walkthrough of preferred Linux settings (i haven't really found one. mostly Windows ones)

Why not try one of the specific mining Linux OS's such as HiveOS, Simplemining, etc. no need to struggle learning Linux, and these can run from USB sticks if you wish so no need to loose your Windows installation.

In Windows there is less space memory compare to Linux in the GPU... no more option to get that values in Windows

try hiveos or raveos

I got 26.10 Mh with zombie-tune auto (11,0) on 1.22. only worked in a x16 slot

Unfortunately, lolminer 1.23 keeps crashing with 2 4GB video cards in 16x PCI-e slots. Need to still use lolminer 1.22 with that rig.

Can the developer explain, what might be the possible problem? Will the future updates fix this?

was running at 18.3MH/s on 1.22 but 1.23 only gave me 8.5mh/s. Auto settings doesn't work for this card. I had to add --4g-alloc-size 4078 parameter to get it back to 18+MH/s

goto the github
Click releaes and see there is 1.23 and 1.24 for linux only.
They are on official github and fix some specific issues with older cards.

Says 1.25 will be out in a little bit and big things coming.

1.24 qas released 3 hrs ago.  Evidently lol is spending the time writing code and nhasnt yet updated from pages.  But if the right site and dev.  Smiley.

Mr. developer, something is wrong with your latest 1.23 and 1.24 releases. Both versions keep crashing with two 4GB RX580 cards in 16x PCI-e slots. And version 1.22 is totally stable.

I play around with Linux on and off.  But would running from a USB stick work?  I guess I'm thinking in terms of Windows here, but it seems you need to have enough virtual memory space or HD space to accommodate the DAG.  Not a problem within one of these like HiveOS?  Just put on USB, boot and load lolminer?

Seems like dark magic you speak of.
