301  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: What happened to P2Pool? on: August 26, 2016, 11:57:22 PM
What happened to P2Pool?  It's been a while since I've mined on P2Pool.  I got a shiny new Antminer S7 so I fired up my old P2Pool node.  I see that the time to block is 10 days!  Back in the day we used to find blocks every few hours.  Why doesn't anyone mine on P2Pool anymore?  Despite the high variance, from what I can tell the luck has been very good.  There's no need to trust pool operators.  All the old reasons are still valid, but there's only 3 smallish farms mining on P2Pool and a handful of small guys like me with one or two rigs.

No clue brother.
302  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 26, 2016, 03:47:40 PM
antminer s1, 2, and 4's dont use the same amount of power in the same size space. the miners you mentioned also run with a SOLID heatsink which has much more surface area than the individual heatsinks. also if 1 chip is hotter on a solid heatsink it helps spread those temps to the entire miner but with the individual ones it can only spread through the heatsink attached to the chip. no miner in the history of miners was made to run in the conditions many of you are running them in. I think ur a complete moron for thinkin u can run miners in a barn safely. next time when u argue a point make sure u do it on a 1 to 1 comparison which cant be done with any of the previous generation miners EXCEPT the s5+ and s7 model. even that is hard to do because the s9 is longer than the s5+ and s7 models which means there is more to cool than on the s5+ and s7. and for someone that owned an s4 runnin in a barn to say its safe blows my mind....those fuckers caught fire while running in datacenter conditions....and u chose to run it in a fuckin barn in 120 degree weather?HuhHuh?? not to mention where the hell in the US is it 120 degrees?!?!?! that right there shows stupidity and thats y u r bein called kiddo.

no i want people to get the most out of their miners and i want them to use them SAFELY! your suggestions put peoples miners and homes at risk which is imoral. seein how many people lost miners for doin exactly what your suggestin they do should tell u to keep ur face hole shut and stop passin out bad advice. bitmain by no means requires u to run them in a datacenter. i dont have datacenters and i havent had a single miner die so far. they expect miners to know what the hell they r doin and u sir do not. they shouldnt have t say dont run them in a 120 degree oven of a barn....that should already be common sense.

does a used car salesman tell you which peddle is gas and which is break everytime he sells you a car?? fuck no because he knows you should already know the basics of driving a car so he shouldnt have to tell you which is which. the same applies to miners. if the people listen to morons like u they can only expect to have their miners get run into the dirt and possibly worse. if losin ur house is worth the risk so be it listen to him but i told u all what would happen and it happened....me an multiple other people....i dont need ne one else to agree that im right....i already know im right i just want others to know the risks too and when people like u post implyin that im wrong well i just gotta correct u.

by the way did bitmain state what the max temps were for every one of their other miners?? i dont recall ever seein that but maybe i missed it. if they didnt y r u bitchin now? because ur miners r at risk when running in a barn in the dead of summer?? all it takes is a little common sense kiddo. it goes a long way. i can fix ignorance but i cant fix stupid.

There is a saying that goes something like this, "you catch more bees with honey than with vinegar."

Well, that one is done. We need a few greens now to help make up for all the red. Smiley

This is not end for Memorycoin after delisted from Poloniex. Big holder should initiate a campaign for improve this coin by hiring new dev for new update with new features, starting campaign for other exchanges. This seems doing everything from the scratch.

I am afraid that it is simply not worth it anymore. If we were still listed on an exchange like Poloniex, it would be different because that directly translates into value.

Well I think I may have jinxed us with that last comment, looks like reds are making a comeback  Sad

I am hoping that this one gets solved and that we get a few good ones following it.

Thankfully it looks like the spike has peaked and is on the way down. Hopefully this averages out to a more mild increase.

Even though the peak hash has dropped off it's still currently sitting higher than it ever has in the past.  I honestly expected a bit of a slow down after the halving, but things just keep going up and up.

I just think it is funny how wrong all of the doomsayers were about the halving and the 1MB block size issue. I heard so many people conjecture that the hashrate would drop significantly and that we would have trouble solving blocks because of the difficulty.

I find it to be a bit more than coincidental that MMC is being delisted, However, I am not completely surprised due to the lack of a full time development team.

what do you mean by that?

There are folks out there who would like to see MMC finally put down for good. I have been advertising that we are still around and that we are listed which I am sure makes it that much more irritating for those who are ready to see MMC die. It is just interesting that when we start to generate interest again and that the hashrate starts to go up, Poloniex delists us. I would not put it past someone talking with Poloniex about delisting us just to hurry the process along, but it is possible it happened on its own.

There is not much we can do at this point. If we wanted to fight the delisting, we would need a full development team to start bringing our code base up to date in order to demonstrate that we are fully active and I just do not see that happening. If I had the skills, I would definitely lead the charge, but I simply do not possess what this project really needs.

Anyway, I guess I should be done with MMC. There is not much point to carrying an unlit torch in the dark on my own. Undecided

MMC getting delisted on polo. guess i won't be mining this anymore.

... DC does not travel well over distance ...

Your statement is simply not true. The power loss experienced due to long distance power transmission is less for DC than it is for AC. The issue is that DC is typically harder to convert to higher or lower voltages. DC voltage conversion is also traditionally more expensive, but there have been recent advances that should bring the costs down. There are other considerations in the AC vs DC war with regard to basic electrical theory, but we are already quite off-topic.

I suggest that folks interested in learning about AC vs DC power transmission read the article in the link below as it explains some of the basic pros and cons.

You need to turn on port forwarding on your router.

You can also try manually adding a few nodes.

addnode 69.12.73.133:1968 onetry
addnode 91.204.214.254:1968 onetry
addnode 213.107.108.202:1968 onetry
addnode 167.114.156.87:1968 onetry
addnode 195.66.101.37:1968 onetry
addnode 23.254.113.22:1968 onetry

I pulled the node addresses from http://coinofview.com/coin/Memorycoin.html. You can always go there yourself to look up more nodes if you so desire.

Thanks for the help, got it working but i think it's a little bit slow. It's not my internet for sure.
are those the only working node we got?

Did you turn on port forwarding?

I used VPS so i guess port-forward is already turned on.
From 139 weeks to 70. Almost halfway there.

It would depends on your VPS. I am assuming that there is a firewall of some sort preventing outside connections.

No mining pool set yet? would like to mine this.

Can anybody upload their QT for windows? every link is dead. Can't even find tutorial for solo mining.
Thanks.

I re-posted the link a page or two back from the original post on page 12.

Thanks. downloaded.

btw, wallet not syncing, it says "No block source available", any solution to this?

0.001 B is not bad for a day , but the ant miner takes huge amounts of current/voltage even though it says it takes only half the amount of the electricity of the other miner's in the market.

Usually for a household here the domestic allowance per household is 3kv.

On normal usage

(Fans,Different kind of lighting, Air conditioner, Washing machine ,Induction,Laptop,Lcd tv ,Mobiles charging,Kitchen appliances, Dvd player)

Takes around 200-450 volts for 2 months.

That is approximately 17 dollars for 2 months.

But the Antminer consumes

The AntMiner S5 consumed 13.88 KWH of electricity for a day of mining.Which is 2795 volts for 24 hours , it's almost 10 times higher than a normal household voltage consumption.

Kwh to Volts converter

http://www.rapidtables.com/calc/electric/kw-to-volt-calculator.htm

AntMiner S5

Hashing power                                              1155 GH/s
Continuous power                                          578 Watts
Daily usage                                                  13.88 KWH

as per this user review

http://bitcoinrancher.com/bitmain-antminer-s5-power-consumption/

So the power factor is a high consideration but if you say it makes 0.001b In Average run of 24 hours , then it would be able to make 2.5-3 btc a month.

So the Average earning would be 1800 dollars monthly .

With current costs around 75 dollars for 24 hours

which comes around 2250 dollars monthly.

So you gonna make 1800 dollars but how will you pay the current bills then.??

Then probably if you wanna just run it for a week then it's probably ok , but a month uh oh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not going to tackle the basic electrical theory and its application portion of your post, but I will say that your calculations for monthly BTC earnings are off by a factor of 10^2. Using your estimates and your rounding of decimals, you should have gotten something more like 0.03BTC a month (30 days) not 3BTC.

Dam, I guess that makes sense.

I'm getting 43.76 after diving it by my HPM and I'm running Windows 10 64-bit.

On windows, create a batch file by using a text editor with something like the following:

Code:
:loop
start C:\Users\username\Desktop\yam-yvg1900-M8a-win64-ivy-bridge\yam-yvg1900-M8a-win64-ivy-bridge\win64-ivy-bridge\yam.exe --config C:\Users\username\Desktop\yam-yvg1900-M8a-win64-ivy-bridge\yam-yvg1900-M8a-win64-ivy-bridge\win64-ivy-bridge\custom.cfg ...
timeout /t 1800 >null
taskkill /f /im yam.exe >nul
goto loop

In the above example, I am assuming that the config file is stored in the same folder as the yam executable. You should also ensure that the batch file has the extension .bat in order to just click and execute the batch file. You can change the value 1800 to something else as it is the number of seconds the loop will pause before killing the task yam.exe. I chose 1800 for you as it is 30 minutes and it should allow your miner to work without exceeding your calculated 43.76 minutes.

Sounds good, could you post the config file for the yam miner, I keep getting reconnects.

The problem that you are probably experiencing is the donation of hashes issue. After 400 hashes, yam will stop mining because it is unable to connect to the hard coded pool and contribute hashes for donation to the author yvg1900. This is a forever problem because the hard coded pool no longer exists. Until we get a new pool up and yvg1900 updates his software, we are stuck with making our own workarounds.

To get around this, you will need to do different things depending on whether you have Linux, Windows, or Macintosh. Regardless of system type, you need to set yam to restart every so often before you reach 400 hashes.  The amount of time you need is based on the HPM of your CPU and can be found if you divide 400 hashes by your HPM.

I wish Bitmain would stop setting the price by USD and just stick with BTC.

They actually do both, depending on whichever provides them the most profit with respect to exchange rate fluctuation.

Yes, I was aware of that, but thank you for stating the obvious anyway.

Does any link to anything work, wallet, miner, etc?

None of the original links work because the site is down.

Catch it - last wallet+full synced blockchain - https://mega.nz/#!Dc9hUJiQ!HDRDpah_FiF_3bbweTHdIjdoAPMrtTHIJ7-yflB4lfI
Only add your own memorycoin.conf file.

Use the link posted by mycoinsstore back from page 12.

Thanks, I'm from the HODL thread, mined quite a bit in the beginning, trying to find some other CPU coin.
Solo mining worth it these days?

Well, there are about 700 MMC created a day. The trading value on Poloniex is about 0.00001800 BTC/MMC. There has been a fair amount of interest lately in MMC so the difficulty has gone up a little, but solo mining on a decent CPU, i7 with AES-NI, will definitely get you in the game.
