541  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: April 01, 2016, 02:21:11 AM
P2Pool has a share life of either three days or three times the average work to find a block, whichever is lower.

Thanks, I was not familiar with the specific algorithm for share life.
542  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: April 01, 2016, 02:12:06 AM
It seems to me that as the difficulty increases the overall p2pool hashrate decreases. Why is that?

Network difficulty increases as the network hashrate increases, so perhaps miners on p2pool are just keeping up with the rest of the network.

@organofcorti  Ummm, I was asking for people's thoughts regarding why p2pool's hashrate is decreasing as the the network difficulty is increasing which is not the same as p2pool keeping up with the rest of the network. It is quite the opposite actually.

It seems to me that as the difficulty increases the overall p2pool hashrate decreases. Why is that?
Less miners equals less hash rate.  Down to 136 from over 250 only months ago.  The culprit is the 3 day work drop-out.  That period should be based on average days to block, IMO, although that might not be feasible.

@Songminer  3 day work drop-out?

544  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Bitfury 16 nm chips and board design on: March 31, 2016, 02:50:02 AM
I am just hoping that BitFury gets their chip out with enough time for it to make sense.
545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Memorycoin ★ Modern CPU PoW ★ COMPLETELY GPU/ASIC FREE ★ NO Free PoS on: March 31, 2016, 02:44:45 AM
1)What decision are you specifically referring to?
Whether FT is going to take over MMC or not.
Even though I don't approve him, I may work with him in an auditor role or something similar.

I do not believe that FreeTrade has made a final decision with regard to working on MMC again.

2)I have seen you talk about this before. The request for de-listing from Bter was a really poor decision. Whoever did that must not care about MMC.
https://twitter.com/MemoryCoinMMC/status/703921949811064832

I did that after requesting an approval from delinquency and had no response from him for 10 days and I still believe my call was right.
Do you know that Bter refused to provide any justification for this practice? You can see for yourself by contacting them. Hopefully, withdrawals are working but I sense that someone (probably FT) agreed with Bter to increase the price of MMC with the intention of creating an arbitrage opportunity between two exchanges. That's just a wild guess but I'm generally good at that.

I am not quite following you on this. I should address your much earlier statement first.

Bter simply say "Keep an eye on the network and we may enable MMC deposit without notice." You can contact Bter and see their response by yourself. This practice is no good since it may end up with an unintentional/intentional market manipulation. Therefore, an action should be taken and I still feel responsible in my duty.

Your quote from Bter sounds like they are having trouble staying in sync with our blockchain. That is not surprising considering the block explorer is having the same issue. It is also understandable that Bter would disable deposits for that reason.

By the way, MMC is a democratic coin, if you are not willing to see me or any other person, you can vote for someone else for these duties. I can also hand over twitter account to responsible people (if there is any).

I am very familiar with how MMC works. I was not trying to offend you. I just believe that your concerns should have been fully discussed with the stakeholders prior to such an announcement.

I had spent more than enough time and effort for MMC, my company's reputation is more important than Memorycoin and I can't stand for these kind of undutiful developers.

What does the reputation of your company have to do with MMC?

I do not wish to be combative with you coaex nor do I wish to be at odds with you. I think that we both have the same goal and that goal is to do what is best for MMC.

I am thinking of an alter ego name for my self

BlowMeBitches
MoronsAllofYou
FoolsWhyBotherWithBTC

All come to mind. For a nasty poster name.  Just post really nasty stuff.  Somedays I think I could do this not most.

I hear you. I have had similar thoughts. It just takes too much effort IMHO.

Step zero - don't be an ass
Step one - display proof in a rational manner
Step two - discourse civilly

sidehack's advice generally requires a lot less effort.

hmmm, thinking about an Azure integration to get it kickstarted again

What exactly are you going to integrate on Azure?

We, as Coaex, can setup a block explorer, as well.

@coaex  Coinplorer still has an active memorycoin block explorer. It can be found at https://coinplorer.com/MMC.

well, my wallet shows 164,903 blocks while coinplorer shows 164,190 (4 days ago)

It does appear that coinplorer keeps losing sync. It has been exhibiting this behavior for weeks. I believe that has more to do with the limited number of nodes on the blockchain than through any fault of coinplorer. I would hazard to guess that most block explorers will have a similarly difficult time in maintaining sync.

by the way, it seems I'm still CMO of memorycoin. well, then, according to FT's decision, I may continue.

What decision are you specifically referring to?

apart from that, you should initiate a bank run from BTER as they are not willing to enable deposits for MMC.

I have seen you talk about this before. The request for de-listing from Bter was a really poor decision. Whoever did that must not care about MMC.

Has anybody heard anything from Delinquency on any forum, reddit, or twitter? I hope the guy is okay.

... I will put the group buy on hold.

Wow, I am really bummed by this development. Let us know if another group buy does eventually happen.
550  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: life usage of antminer s1? on: March 25, 2016, 01:48:19 AM
I am still using 4x AntMiner S1 that are now under-volted. They each pull about 1.35A at the wall with a Gold rated PSU. I get roughly 130GH/s at this power usage, so not quite 1 W/GH, but close to it.

In any event, I would definitely keep your S1 units around even if you decide to turn them off. There is a community project going found at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1368507.0 led by some experienced folks, namely sidehack and a few others. They are working on replacement boards for the S1 chassis based on the upcoming 16nm BitFury chips.
551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Zues Lightning and new ZuesMiner Gen 3 chips on: March 25, 2016, 12:27:39 AM
ZeusMiner was supposed to produce their Gen3 chips under the Volcano, but from what I remember, they scrapped the whole project due to ROI concerns. If I am not mistaken, ZeusMiner offered their customers the option for a refund or a discounted conversion to their ZeusHash cloud mining. Unfortunately, only KnC and AlcheMiner ever released a Gen3 chip and nobody, as far as I know, has put forth a viable candidate for a Gen4 chip.

Not yet, but hopefully soon.
553  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: March 24, 2016, 03:10:24 AM
Are there anyone who would be unhappy with doubling the shift size? It would make unpaid shifts much more rare.

The point of this debate should be about netting the pool a higher average hashing rate. Increasing the shift size will decrease the chance for unpaid shifts, but it will also decrease a renters potential maximum payout as it is tied directly to the shift size.

My vote would be to leave it as-is. Don't fix what ain't broken.

I do concur with scyth3. However, based on my previous assessment, I would also opine that having a greater risk versus reward ratio will attract more renters looking for a higher potential payout and will therefore increase the pool's average hashing rate.
554  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Looking for Raspberry PI mining proxy that can have failover pools on: March 24, 2016, 01:44:53 AM
I have been successful in using Minera, found at http://getminera.com/, as a stratum proxy for fast pool switching on my Raspberry Pi. That should satisfy your listed requirements. You will need to configure Minera to run bfgminer and add the command --stratum-port=3333 to enable the stratum proxy. These configuration options are all found under the Local Miner Settings page. You will see your devices populate bfgminer as PXY.
555  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PSU for Antminer S3 on: March 23, 2016, 12:35:04 PM
I have two very similar AntMiner S3 setups. The first setup uses a Corsair RM1000 to run 2x AntMiner S3 and the second setup uses a Corsair RM1000x to run another 2x Antminer S3. I have had no problems with over-heating cables on either Corsair PSU. When mining, the key is to always use a quality PSU. I would also highly recommend using a PSU that has a single 12V rail.

The wallet doesn't appear to be able to bootstrap itself (no working nodes) and the last posted nodes don't appear to be live either.

Working nodes are the very minimum for a live coin.

The CEO or CTO should either post working nodes or resign.

@FreeTrade  You can get an updated list of nodes from http://coinofview.com/mmc under the NETWORK section.

We, as Coaex, can setup a block explorer, as well.

@coaex  Coinplorer still has an active memorycoin block explorer. It can be found at https://coinplorer.com/MMC.
557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MemoryCoin | CPU Coin | Paid Dev Team | Limited Supply [MMC] on: March 23, 2016, 01:30:49 AM
I think this coin is fairly dead now. I'm thinking about resurrecting it - anybody interested?

I'm thinking a PoW coin with a large minimum memory amount required.

any news now?
This is an old thread. Head over to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=598187 to see the most current conversation.
558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MemoryCoin | CPU Coin | Paid Dev Team | Limited Supply [MMC] on: March 22, 2016, 08:53:31 PM
I may, in time, return to it if there is sufficient interest.
@FreeTrade  There is interest. There are still a few of us actively mining to keep the blockchain alive.

Can someone please post an updated list of nodes? Thanks!? Smiley
@khryptor  You can get an updated list of nodes from http://coinofview.com/mmc under the NETWORK section.
559  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer ethernet convert to USB on: March 18, 2016, 11:41:34 PM
Now technically you should be able to hook a USB to UART converter right to the hashboard. You won't have temp sensing if you do that; the temp sensor runs through separate lines. There also probably doesn't exist any driver code to actually get work to the boards. But it should be possible if that existed.
@sidehack  Somehow, I suspected that you might pipe in with a solution from an engineering standpoint. Smiley I had a similar thought to yours, but I am reasonably sure that nobody has done any coding with regards to a driver from this perspective.

I don't want to have IP detected over network.
@conceptxp  Your statement is confusing because the circumstances surrounding your intent are unclear. Are you trying to obfuscate your network traffic? Is ethernet not an option because it is simply not available? Are you trying to avoid having an unknown MAC address trip port security on another entity's ethernet switch?
560  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer ethernet convert to USB on: March 18, 2016, 07:35:56 AM
No, you cannot use USB and there is no WiFi on the control board either.
