More like "and yet a few people will still mine". Just because a few people keep mining doesn't mean they have faith in SC as a currency. Speculators are willing to buy it for a penny and sell it for two pennies doesn't mean they have any faith in its long term value. Double up on a couple buy for $0.01 and sell for $0.02 it doesn't matter if it goes bust in the future you have locked in some profits.
There is a big difference between a few people mining and speculating and a true economy.
But at least they have the faith, that the price will double! |

Once again shit for brains, with the right tweak it will allow anyone to mine an even block that will accepted by the block chain. That is until CH locks them out.

Anyway to address your question: I too noticed the oddity on coinotron stat display today. It appears to be more of a UI glitch on coinotron as he had like 4-5 "stuck" blocks right around that one, blocks that never validated and never confirmed. I have not asked coinotron about it however.
Clear concise summary: There was an even block on coinotron's stat display, It was not legitimately solved/validated.
Theory: Coinotron is doing lots of server updates, perhaps this was a glitch side effect of some work or server load happening?
No shit for brains, it means that with a code tweak anyone can mine an even block. You really understand how cryptocurrencies work? You can modify everything on YOUR client, but the p2p network won't accept your crap block |

There's no indication from the provided screenshot that there is anything malicious in this file. I just like screwing with these guys, I am well aware this means maybe, who knows, probably false positive. But nonetheless it was a Norton Alert LOL Noob at the keyboard? So cost/benefit does go over you head. No, I don't mine SC - haven't even installed it. But other poor saps do, so I'm making this information available to them.
Fix was published shortly after the GPU miner release... So what's the problem? SC support is still high, just some clowns who hate it, but are not able to ignore it |

What's the problem? The problem is this is MY fucking electricity that I'm spending to mine. I pay for it dipshit - and being able to determine if my resources are competitive vs GPU mining is necessary. Really, is a cost/benefit analysis over your head? The problem I had was his ability to correctly identify what's going on in his code, and his ability to communicate it with people using it. What I also don't understand is how working on an open-source GPU miner revealed a previously corrected bug in the closed-source CPU miner. Also, the hashrate is critical to SC 2.0's 'CPU-only, anyone can mine, even grandma!' rhetoric. Also if CH is so negligent when finding and communicating 'bugs', the rest of his closed-source mystery becomes even more of a liability. Right now, CH has a wonderful opportunity to come and explain, and -maybe- even restore some of his credibility. I -genuinely- want to know the process of which his code in beta was accurate in beta, wrong in 2.0, back to accurate in 2.01, and how it was 'discovered' while someone else was working on a GPU miner. So what's the problem? Your miner worked correctly... Is you electricity wasted because the shown hashrate is not correct? You have shown multiple times that you don't like SC, why do you mine it? |

It may not be a conspiracy, but if he can introduce 2 bugs in something as simple as a hashrate measurement, who knows what kinds of security problems he's introduced? Add to the fact that this is closed source, you are just asking for trouble IMHO. Still better to try to improve something, than just copying something else with zero innovation... But I still prefer LTC than TBX/FBX |

RS has always mentioned that he wants to have GPU and CPU on the same level, not to ban GPUs completly, it looks like that was reached... sure it also helped promoting SC. It's funny how everybody else jumped on the CPU-train after RS published the idea and published some altchains, which are not far from death now, except maybe LTC |
