1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT] Mintcoin (POS) (5%) - New Wallet v2.0.2 released 3/1/16 on: January 26, 2017, 03:47:13 AM
Why is Mintcoin price dropping? Is this the end for MINT? I don't want to give up because I really like this coin. This has been my favorite coin for so long. It just sucks the price has been going down the last 6 months or so constantly. But, I think price shouldn't get much lower right? Price is at almost all-time low huh, so maybe a great time to gather some funds together and buy up. I just can't hardley believe some sold MINT for 2 Satoshis. Sort of weird too because LTC price buy orders is worth a lot more than that. Markets are so weird! Anyone think we will see 1 Satoshi price for MINT?

@ buy$Polar

Nobody really cares about your opinion.  The reason the price swung so much was because someone-one on Cryptopia did a massive LTC dump, and it threw off almost every market on the exchange. One of the markets that is traded decently there is MINT which was included in the price swing. It artifically pumped the exchange rate for XMR to extreme highs resulting in a massive MINT/XMR selloff. But MINT actually absorbed all of the impact quite well and things look to me be rather normalizing again now already, back up to about $600,000 or so last I checked.

Mintcoin needs to get listed back on poloniex. Almost no demand for the coin anywhere else.
I wouldn't say there is almost no demand. In a no demand situation, a coin just tanks and that is the end of it. There is demand for mintcoin, but volume is rather low. I think that's because people in mintcoin are just not going to do fraudulent practices of faking volumes. Poloniex has a lot of traders, but that is all they are, they are just going to profit off of you, the real mintcoiner. With them out of the picture, so to speak, then it gives us some good opportunity for good values and price discovery and a chance to get the solid deals, and on coins trading again in the hands of us who really care about minting and mintcoin. I think a lot of coins from poloniex were dumped and it was all really rather unexpected about the delisting; short notice, so the price is currently suppressed. But I don't think it will stay that way. Historically, there is tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of mintcoins bought up, so in the light of the current market conditions, it sounds like a possible opportunity to be buying, or at least buying if the price drops more, especially if you really believe in this coin. buy. The price is cheaper now which is good because it cost less for you to buy and will enable to mint more in the future for a less cost now. And still the minting rate is still at 10% which is sort of a lot, and so from now until December when the rate halves, more and more coins will be minted so maybe even the price will drop even more until then. But come December the rate goes to 5% so not as many new coins to be created so when people buy and save, there will be less other people with coins to sell, so eventually things will come to balance. I have some buy orders in for if it drops even lower, because you never know what people will do. But am also tempted to buy since Mint may never be this cheap again. But hopefully we can have all of the weak hands flush out and completely abandon it, because after that, then we will be poised for the greatest rebound/rise ever. Some trades that look like selling really are buys, and this is important to understand. I am not an expert though, just another fellow person that likes mintcoin. The world is a wicked and deceptive place and it pours into everyplace, even the cryptoworld. There are a lot of things going on in the world right now and IMO we all need to be careful to take care of ourselves, our families, and not be deceived. I think mintcoin is a great coin and has the possibility to still a great store of valued for a long time, and for generations. It is about commitment. I believe Mintcoin is a way to protect against inflation in fiat money etc. This is the kind of shit we are up against...

You also can buy Mintcoin at:
-CRYPTOPIA         (there's actually like 7 trading pairs there)
-SOUTHXCHANGE

Maybe the front announcement page should be updated to include a direct link to every possible exchange and every possible trading pair. something straightforward for users to click on directly what they want or are looking for to trade.

Is BTCpool still an exchange that works? They have several trading pairs for MINT on there but the whole site looks pretty dead.

Hi. I'm still learning about these. What exactly is the difference between a Bootstrap vs a Snapshot? What are the pros and cons of each? Sorry if this is explained already. BTW thanks for doing this.

I made a countdown for the final annual reward halving to 5% for Mintcoin here: http://www.arewethere.yt/MINTCOIN-HALVING/46815.htm#.V3YKwDHLf_o

I noticed that some of the information on the front page of this thread needs to be updated.
On the Announcement Page under the "Mintcoin: Year 1 Minting Statistics"... a lot of that is outdated now. Do you think we should put up more relevant info?

For example maybe it should say should say "Mintcoin: Recent Minting Statistics" and use some of the more updated info like For example (some of the stats from coolbeans' a few posts back)

How do we get the block explorer turned on again?
Is there another block explorer service we could get?

Been rather quite here lately. What's going on and happening with this coin? I really like this coin, and want to see it flourish. Glad to see we got a dice game. How are developments coming along? Anything new and exciting?

I'm finally starting to mint some value where it looks like this could really pay off better than mining! Nice to see! This coin has promise. Keep up the good work

Be patient guys  Cheesy

Yeah. I think it is better to slowly buy coins. If you buy too many too fast, it draws too much attention by day-traders that aren't even interested in MINT long-term... and then creates a pump and dump. If you actually care about MINT, maybe better to keep the volume per day down lower, and under the radar, then all the coins will actually be kept in ownership with people who actually care and not just speculators who don't care. Then it makes them have to pay more to play later their game if they do eventually try to pump it.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT] Mintcoin - New Wallet v2.0.1.0 - CPU & Bandwidth Optimization on: February 03, 2016, 05:03:41 AM
Good to see the price going up, anyone got any idea why?

If you pay close attention to historical charts, you can see and possibly remember, MINT when up 10x around this time last year. So maybe it is an annual cycle sort of thing. Looks like it is on a longer-term growth trajectory overall. Also keep in mind the minting reduction that is probably going to have an effect on price as people can't get new coins as easily as before. And there the minting rate is halving again at the end of the year. This quite possibly could be the end of cheap mints.

There is only so much MINT in existence and you can't just print it out of this air like fiat money, so it is bound to rise with time. Time is definitely on MINT's side. MINT is almost 2 years old, and pretty established so why not. It's obviously here to stay, and IMO think it is a possible contender to rise in market cap higher than DOGE or even LTC someday.

Just keep minting and watch the value of your mintings grow! It is sort of like growing a tree farm, it takes time for the tree to grow, but eventually you have a forest full of valuable wood. keeping minting is like consistently watering your trees. Stay fresh!

What is your processor speed capacity?

BTW, when I am running Mintcoin it uses 810MB RAM. I am still on build 2.0.0.1 though.

Did some calculating again with these numbers.
We approached around 2900 blocks per day average since this post.
So i think the date will be 30 Nov or 1 Dec this year.

It is not super consistent, some days it is faster and other times it is slower. The target is roughly a block every 30 seconds though and is pretty accurate over long period of time.

I created a Countdown Timer here...
http://www.arewethere.yt/MINTCOIN/30183.htm

I have been updating it every few days, and it seems like the blocks are going a little slower than 30 seconds. 6 days ago I updated it within a 5 minute window estimated upon 30 seconds, and today when i check the calculation it is about 3 hours behind schedule, so not much.  I just updated it again, now, to within an hour or so of accuracy based on 30 second blocks.. (added about 2 hours and 45 minutes to the countdown).

The time before, the blocks were going faster than 30 seconds, so I had sped up the timer.

All in all, I agree that it looks pretty consistent and reliable that it will be November 30th or December 1st when the increase in the money supply will be slowed down to about 7%... basically we are minting coins at about 70% of the minting rate ...so roughly 70% of 10% is roughly 7%  we can expect as far as the increase in the money supply over the coming year.

Hello MINT community,

We have been hard at work doing research on your coin and have have the following plan in place to support MINT and its community.
First off we noticed that you guys have a large number of coins sitting on Exchanges, being a POS coin MINT should move at least 50% of the coins currently sitting on Exchanges to staking and not giving exchanges the ability to stake large volumes of coin or pulling the value down with such large volumes up for sale.

Here is what we would like to propose in order to get MINT listed as a payout option while at the same time really make the most of the listing on Steak Cloud and not let it simply turn into "Just another service" for MINT. At Steak Cloud our main aim is to increase altcoin value on exchanges, we have a proven track record of making this happen, so here is our plan of action for MINT.

Steak Cloud is launching its cloud staking service "Steak Cloud" this will run alongside our current POS mining operation but at the same time we would like to offer MINT the opportunity to be used as the altcoin we launch out service with, giving MINT even more exposure and the chance of a maximum value increase, If you are able to see the value in what we are proposing for mint please read further if not read further anyway you might start to piece it together better.

Why should I use Steak Cloud to stake my coins in the cloud?
This will help remove excess POS coins from exchanges and in turn raise the value of those coins in two ways.
  • Removing low value sell orders will help increase value
  • Stake these coins in the cloud with Steak Cloud and grow your investment

Most people do not stake their coins as they are not able to run a wallet 24/7 - Steak Cloud is the solution to this your problem.

To do this "Stakers" (Those who stake with Steak Cloud) will need to stake their coins for a minimum term of 1 month at a 10% staking fee. (remember you are not removing all your coins, just 50% of them.
Stakers will have the option of withdrawing earlier although this will result in an early withdraw cancellation fee of 20% rather than the standard 10% fee, this will help maintain value as most Stakers will not want to pull out early based on the difference in the fee.
Stakers will have the option to Stake for longer periods with less fees incurred, a bit like a bank only 1000% better and without the low rates of interest.

On top of this we add MINT as a payout option on Steak Cloud to miners, driving the price even higher with the daily buy orders we will put through on exchanges in order to pay our POS miners.

In order for this to work we will need the support of a good share of the MINT community. Let this all sync in, excuse the pun, and feel free to ask any questions.

Regards

Improving altcoin value
http://steakcloud.com

Wow. So this is basically, like pooled minting? Do I understand that right? Sort of like pooled mining for PoW coins this is pooled staking for proof of stake? Sounds awesome! Would love to know more! Sounds exciting!! Shocked

Yeah this would essentially be "Pooled Minting" so Steak Cloud will be launching a Minting pool very soon. We will keep this process as simple as mining POS currently is with Steak Cloud pool mining.

If there is anything specific you would like to know please so not hesitate to ask.

Regards

Steak Cloud Support

Can you make an instructional video on how to use Mintcoins with the Minting pool?

Can you implement some features that allow us to estimate how many new coins will be minted? (for example if you pledge 300,000 mintcoins for 6 months, will it show a calculation showing estimated mintings at the end of the period? Also a progress bar, showing % until complete.

I think these would be nice features to have. Thanks

Three questions:

1.  Is the latest version downloadable from mintcoinofficial.com yet?

2.  How long until the next wallet release?

3. Is there a 2.0.1 release for windows 64 bit operating system?
