8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Donationcoin (DON) | 0% Mining Pool | Gravity Well | Exchanges | PoW on: March 21, 2015, 05:08:21 PM
As Graham said, this is a p2p community and I think it's on us members of the DON community who think its a project worth keeping to step up and do something about the situation. DON is effectively dead and has been for months. The website has been down for more than a month. The FB tipping app was a small handful of people passing around the same few coins. The whole "donation" aspect of this coin has been forgotten and literally nothing at all has been done since DEV abandoned us for his shiny new project which is also dying.

Even with the massive pre-mine this coin held promise but the lack of support from DEV and community killed it. I would be willing to take over hosting the website and block explorer on my own existing servers. I will also see what can be done about adding new pools and exchanges so we can get something going on here again. I will make contact with Spencer and Steven so we can work out the remaining issues and see if DON can either be revived or properly put to rest.

Is anyone still mining DON somewhere?
9  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: March 16, 2015, 10:22:41 PM
Yay you would be buying my bitcoin if there was no reason for the rise to 1000+ if there was a reason then i would most definitely hold but anything else it is time to unload my holdings until the next drop then i will be back with a bigger stack. Smiley

What would you consider a valid reason for the price to jump to $1000 from the current rate just below $300?

11  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM ALERT]: MICHAEL MORIARTY/moriartybitcoin/BitLaunder.com Stole $80K From Me on: March 09, 2015, 06:57:32 PM

In mid June I concocted a scheme to use sock puppet accounts in obtaining more than the maximum allowed individual allocation of the new FIMK cryptocurrency which launched several weeks ago.  Part of my plan was to use BitLaunder.com to disguise the common pool origin of Bitcoins donated by these sock puppet accounts.  The actions of  Michael Moriarty / moriartybitcoin at BitLaunder.com described below disrupted my plan.  With time running out, I then implemented a second clumsy plan which was easily discovered.  I have apologized to the FIMK developers for my attempt to thwart the terms of their launch.  I have been forgiven by them and granted a stake considerably smaller than what I would have received if I had just followed the rules.   Karma is real.

rickyjames,

Karma is not only real she's a bitch as well! This entire thread is both funny, sad and a waste of time. It's funny because OP admits to running his own scam and then cries about being scammed trying to launder his scammed cash. It's sad because OP thinks he's entitled to his scamming profits and its a waste of time because no one should dedicate this much effort to save a scammer from a bigger and better scammer.
12  Economy / Lending / Re: Need Loan 5 BTC will Provide Collateral on: November 11, 2014, 05:27:50 PM
Dude, transfering your domains, websites and affiliate accounts for a 5BTC loan is more like a sale. Getting those domains back will be no easy task. The new owner may do a horrible job of managing the sites and you'll end up with 50 dead websites. You're better off just selling the sites and moving on. Forget using them as collateral.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - Officially Launched! on: September 22, 2014, 07:19:53 PM
It's good to see the fresh conversation on GUN and the continued support so many have. I bought GUN while it was listed on Bittrex and I got it listed on Bleutrade because I did not want to see my investment die off. I think we are hitting on some important topics. Both liquidity and the exchanges are vital to the long term success of GUN.

I see miners or the rise of powerful asics as less important because those miners will only mine a coin of value and at current prices GUN is not worth mining. I understand there is some concern over nefarious forces out to stop GUN for political reasons and I have even seen some very strange bidding on the exchanges but I dont think Guncoin has made enough noise to be any sort of threat of interest to any organized group. Even 2A opponents have better things to worry themselves than a struggling altcoin.

I believe that Guncoin will need to first be accepted by the crypto marketplace before it gains any value and is of interest to anyone who does not already understand Bitcoin or crypto currencies. I think talking to gun shops and show vendors about Guncoin is a wasted opportunity to talk to them about Bitcoin and crypto currency in general. Having a small local gunshop acccept Guncoin when they have nowhere to convert it to cash easily is a deal killer for a majority of the industry. Margins in the gun business are abysmal and cash flow is inmportatnt to any gun dealer. A gun shop would be better served to accept Bitcoin at this point and there is little incentive or reason to take GUN other than the novelty of its name.

I think we should focus on making Guncoin more accepted and valuable to the crypto marketplace first and foremost so that when we do have the opportunity to speak with new potential vendors there is something there to talk to them about. If changes are going to be made to Guncoin it needs to be changes that the crypto marketplace would want to see. The type of changes that will boost the exchange price and volume, increase liquidity, attract new miners and new exchanges like Cryptsy which offer conversion to USD.

I think without broader support and recognition by the crypto markets it will be far more difficult to attract new vendors willing to accept Guncoin. Volume on all exchanges has been weak and we risk being delisted again which at this point in development could be a fatal blow.

So whats the solution? Well, Guncoin is looked at as an old style coin with Scrypt PoW. It's been suggested we convert to x13/Neoscrypt and I think that is an excellent idea because it is a more efficient algo. PoS or Proof of Stake is very popular as well and would certainly do something for the coins value. I think the biggest thing we could do was adopt some form of coin mixer or anonymity but that would require a dedicated development team which this coin lacks.

Is there a development fund so people can support the coins development?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Donationcoin (DON) | 0% Mining Pool | Gravity Well | Exchanges | PoW on: July 16, 2014, 12:59:07 AM
Not much for updates from the Dev recently. How are things with Donationcoin these days? The price has taken a beating but thats made it easier to grab a lot of cheap coins. Any thoughts on what DON needs to move up?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - Officially Launched! on: June 12, 2014, 04:09:02 PM
I've been buying up as many Guncoin as I can in BTC. I would disregard the DOGE and LTC markets all together as that's where cheap coins are sold. BTC is where all coins hope to trade once they leave the DOGE and LTC markets.

Guncoin is a bit dated with basic Scrypt features and this hurts it in the crypto marketplace where features like PoS and anything related to anonymity are HOT and everything else is not. We could really benefit from some big news and an algo change would be a massive boost.

New coins like Pinkcoin, Cloakcoin and of course Darkcoin are all trading at much higher volumes due to their implementation of anon features. The prices fluctuate as with all other coins but they are growing in size and recognition based on a desirable feature set and not just slick marketing or wishful thinking.

What coin would benefit more from anonymity than Guncoin? The question to ask ourselves is what does Guncoin offer over these other anon coins and what can we do to beat them?

Darkcoin is establishing itself as a legitimate currency and probably the best choice for a currency to be used for firearms purchases.

How can we mimic or improve upon these coins to give Guncoin the recognition AND features it needs to take the lead?

Recognition is awesome but if Guncoin comes across as lackluster or missing something then that recognition is wasted. When they look at Guncoin they should be BLOWN AWAY and they are not. Guncoin is on the watch list and not the buy list.

I think GUN is a long term coin to hold but the crypto markets change by the minute and we have a long way to go before any of us buys a gun with our Guncoin.

I can see why the NRA would have issue with endorsing a decentralized and unorganized group of crypto currency enthusiasts. Maybe we need a Guncoin Foundation to legitimize the effort and provide a focus to our efforts?

Someone is buying up this coin on Bleutrade and I was wondering if there is any news or developments coming out that we should know about.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - Officially Launched! on: June 09, 2014, 11:09:39 PM
I don't post much here on bitcointalk but I have been a fan of Guncoin for awhile now and I monitor the threads and what direction the coin is headed. I think Guncoin has a real chance at success if we can just boost its visibility a little.

Of all the altcoins out there Guncoin has one of the largest and most dedicated user bases in gun owners and a legitimate need in the marketplace for a better currency. Getting gunshops and vendors to accept Guncoin would be awesome but as mentioned this is a digital currency and will need to be marketed first to people with easy access to it.

Trading Guncoin or even Bitcoin at a gunshow is still very impractical even with paper wallets so we'll need online retailers to support the coin. I think contacting online vendors like Cheaperthandirt and asking them to consider accepting Bitcoin and Guncoin is the best way to move forward because most shops will have heard of Bitcoin and are more open to something they already know. Once they take BTC its easy enough to get them to take Guncoin as well.

I think the more important matter is support from within the crypto currency world. It seems like there is a lot of downward sell pressure on Guncoin as if someone wants to hold the price down intentionally. The trades over at https://coin-swap.net/market/GUN/BTC are just silly with what appears to be some form of automated bidding taking place to artificially drive the price down. I suggest we demand they delist the coin because all it does is make us look bad.

The whole Bittrex thing was just odd to me. I was actually online at midnight when the page was deleted. Just prior to Guncoin being delisted there were a bunch of trades at under 20 satoshi and down to 11 satoshi before the page actually disappeared. There was no proper notification by Bittrex on the delisting and they almost went out of their way to conceal the fact the coin was being considered for removal by posting only in a new ANN here in BTCtalk. I sent them a nasty email and proceeded to remove all of my coins from their exchange because of the way they handled that. Lucky enough we were able to get Bleutrade to list the coin but the volume there has been weak as well.

I think there are a lot of coin holders who want to dump their coins because they have lost faith in Guncoin. I think the low prices and volume is not good for a new coin and we should all work together to generate more interest in guncoin and also commit to holding them before selling cheap. Guncoin is a long term play in the crypto world but we need to keep it alive that long to get there.

Someone suggested bad press and its not the worst idea but there are other options. We really need to make a connection with gun rights supporters. I'm not exactly sure how to do so but I think we should consider trying to get a major organization like the NRA or even Wounded Warriors to accept donations or even lend an endorsement. That type of validation will go a long way. A celebrity endorsement might even work if we could get the right person to advocate altcoins. Maybe someone like Ted Nugent or Sarah Palin would lend their name to the coin for a sizable donation.

Of all the altcoins I have reviewed this one has a solid dev team and an excellent foundation to grow from. I think what we lack is that last push to get noticed. If more people were aware of altcoins in general and then better educated on what Guncoin can offer the gun industry it will have a massive future. With the current growth and visibility of Bitcoin its not that hard to make the connection to Guncoin and show more people the awesome potential cyptocurrencies have for gun supporters.

Anyway, I have been voting on Mintpal and doing my best to support the price on the coin in the hopes we can get a boost but I think we'll need some exciting news before we get the boost all of us are waiting for.
19  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] LeaseRig.net Rent & Hire Scrypt(Jane/Nfactor)/SHA3/SHA256/X11 HashPower! on: June 03, 2014, 04:43:05 PM
Does anyone use LeasedRigs.net to solo mine? I was wondering how exactly I would go about setting something like this up. I sent a message to LeasedRigs support and they suggested I ask here for more feedback.

I've done the pool mining and I just wanted to compare the results with solo mining. From what I gather there are two ways I can do this. I can allow access to my local machine which is a security issue or I can somehow host a wallet online.

I guess if I had a VPS with a miner running I could allow access to that but I do not currently have one and adding one just for the wallet access seems redundant and cost prohibitive.

Are there any other options or suggestions, maybe even a free one?

Is anyone solo mining with LeasedRigs and if so can you share how?

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 13 Potential Markets de-listed from Bittrex on Monday, June 2nd on: June 02, 2014, 07:05:28 AM
While I think its a great idea to list this information here on [Suspicious link removed]. You know, you're own website where people are actually managing their investments in your exchange.

Its very frustrating to check a coins page and find a 404 error with no explanation at all. I really do not understand how you can have a News page at https://www.bittrex.com/News and yet there is no news listed there that these Coins were being removed.

Is it unreasonable to think maybe you should care enough to inform your clients of this at the place where they actually conduct business with you and not on some other website with no real affiliation at all to your business?

Is it so much to ask that notification be made on the actual page that will be delisted or must we check in at bitcointalk once per week to receive our news about Bittrex.com? Oh, wait. I have to check in every 3 days because you dont get a week for coins to be delisted.

I think it is ridiculous that we get 72 hours notification posted on a third party website with absolutely ZERO notification made on your own website about the status of these coins. Its as if you cant be bothered to offer more than a new topic on this forum.

Is this the Official Support forum for Bittrex and should we expect that all important announcements will be made here or should we also dig around in your website for random blog postings before we check your social media pages for status updates?

By posting this information only here in Bitcointalk its almost as if you have made the announcement to everyone except your clients and allowed them to take advantage of what amounts to insider information based on its limited release.

GunCoin was only released on May 1st and you did not list it on its first few days so by delisting it on June 2nd you did not even give it a full 30 days before you announced its death. You must realize that by making this announcement you destroy any value that was left in any of these coins and make it more difficult not only for the coin to succeed but also for your clients to properly manage their investments.

Bittrex.com is where I conduct business with your company and Bittrex.com is where I should receive notifications that relate to my investments with your company. Its the fiduciary responsibility of Bittrex to provide vital news and announcements that relate to financial investments where it's clients can easily access them and this posting does not satisfy those requirements.

Now I have to consider whether or not I should continue to invest with a company that does not seem to care about its clients and is only concerned with the volume of trades made and the associated fees they earn. I'm not upset the coin was delisted but rather at the lackadaisical attitude towards client assets and the improper way news announcements are made by Bittrex. Is this what I should expect from this company?
