201  Economy / Economics / Re: Do your work. on: March 29, 2023, 06:32:29 PM
Not everyone will run a personal business and I beg to disagree that you are only making someone else richer without increasing your own wealth. You can earn more as you work as well. Everyone has a part to play in the smooth running of a business (both the emploer and the employee). If everyone runs a business who then would we employ to work on our businesses.
indeed not everyone can be a boss but at least we must have the intention and desire for something we can raise our standard of living from employees to company owners. but it is also important at this time that we really have to focus on the work that we are currently doing. work hard and be consistent. and while planning and raising capital to then build our own business.

every day the wheel of life always turns and I believe every day there will always be new rich people born and vice versa there will always be people who fall poor every day. this cycle continues. and we also have to think that we cannot as long as we are in a position as an employee. one day we must be able to change our condition for the better. well all oranf would want the same thing. but the results will probably always vary. sometimes people who work hard don't always meet success. but at least if you have tried then there will be no regrets in the future.
Bruh, why the hell we gotta be slaves to the system?! Why can't we just say "fuck it" and start our own thing?! I'm tired of working for the man and barely making ends meet. We gotta rise up and overthrow the capitalist pigs who are keeping us down! We gotta start our own businesses, work for ourselves, and stick it to the man! And hey, even if we fail, at least we can say we tried, right? So let's grab life by the balls, take a risk, and start our own damn thing! Who's with me?!
You can't be poor by being an employee as long as you get paid what you're worth but you can certainly go poor if you failed at running a successful business. A failed business can't put food in your table but your paycheck can feed you at the end of the month.
Note: you need to be getting paid for what you're worth but otherwise you're free to say "fuck it"

Working as an employee doesn't necessarily make one poor. There are wealthy people who works under an organisation as an employee even though they may not be super wealthy like Jeff Bezoz or Elon musk but they're doing very well for themselves.

To run your own business, first of all, you need to have a certain frame of mind. If a person is a doer, it will be very difficult for him to readjust. Not everyone can be a boss. Of course, it is possible to work on yourself psychologically, but to do this you must often overstep yourself.
More than a frame of mind is needed to run a business successfully. You need employees who are dedicated to seeing the business a success and if those employees also decide to be their own boss can you alone face the workload needed to keep the business in operation.
204  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: 2023 Gubernatorial Elections Discussion Thread {Focus on Lagos & Rivers States} on: March 28, 2023, 08:30:52 PM

Why we dey deceive ourselves, na only presidential campaign wey people vote individual wey be Peter Obi, the rest na party wey people vote, even where Labour party win as in positions no body sabi those wey dey there na just say dem be Labour party members so people begin vote them. Oya make we look Otti wey win for Abia state as governor under Labour party, that man was a APC member just few months back wey he last year but as him move go Labour party na so him begin gather followers and many people wey vite am just do so to pay back as dem wan both APC and PDP to commot for their state.

Typical no major new politicians was produced in this election which means we just recycle the old fools no matter the party then dey and we dey think say them go do better. The only politicians wey I know wey new na those labour party candidates wey win for north wey dem be nobody (dat story been trend for twitter wey him be taxi driver abi wetin self, I dun forget). Among everybody wey we vote for fir this election, abeg who be the youths abi we dun forget say na youthful leaders we been dey fight for.
The earlier we choose competence over party politics the better Nigeria politics will be. Most of those that came into power during this election running on the hype of labour party might be the flag bearer for APC or PDP in the next election.
These politicians rarely care about us the citizens like they care for the position they hold. And we should still choose competence over young leaders as well, Desmond Elliot is a a good example of young and incompetent leader we have in this country based on how much the people of his constituency hates him

206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will the altcoin go up in price if the bitcoin price goes up? on: March 28, 2023, 08:00:38 PM
The price action of altcoins isn't 100% dependent on that of Bitcoin. Although, altcoins are heavily dependent on bitcoin but they can still make individual without the influence of bitcoin to some extent. So it's absolutely normal for a 7% rise in bitcoin price to cause altcoins to increase by 3% and it is also normal for a 3% increase in price of bitcoin to cause 7% increase in the price of altcoins.

208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What could have happened to all meme coins on: March 26, 2023, 05:59:23 PM
~
They're simply just bad. We all know memes are just part of internet culture and not something to be taken too seriously especially with money. I would not truly categorize it as a purely shitcoin, since somehow it still has that value from being popular internet culture but still my point stands.

And yes, I wouldn't even recommend others even my friends to just hop in straight to the hype of meme coins. It ain't risking your sanity over short-term pumps.
Exactly. Anyone with investment in mind should not put money into meme tokens. Meme tokens are for gamblers, they can go to zero any moment and yes, they're not different from shitcoins
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Meme coins still a good invest? on: March 25, 2023, 03:03:53 PM
I believe investing and meme tokens should not go in the same sentence. Meme tokens are for pump and dump which is mostly a gamble to when the bull run comes a significant number of them will see an increase in price but they will end up dumping massively as well
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What could have happened to all meme coins on: March 25, 2023, 02:55:46 PM
The answer to that is what will see everyday. There are thousands of meme tokens created everyday and they all end up dead, now that Elon support for meme tokens has dwindled we can see the effect it has on meme tokens.
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's your opinion on the future of Decentralised exchanges on: March 25, 2023, 02:46:18 PM
The FTX saga only gave cex a dent in trust. Even if a lot of liquidity moved to Dex platform the big chunk of day-to-day trading volume still happen on Cex. People are now more wary and aware of the dangers associated with having asset in a cex wallet but it doesn't stop them from trading there.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Staking advice needed on: March 25, 2023, 02:39:30 PM
Staking for long term gain is a whole lot of risk compared to just holding. Most staking platform promise insane APY that sounds to good to be true and they mostly end up becoming scam at the long run. So if long term is your plan, I'd advise you to just hold it for as long as tou want.
213  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor and Rich on: March 24, 2023, 11:10:48 AM
There are only about 1% of the entire world's population in the rich zone and no one outside of the rich 1% can overtake another person. That leaves us with 99% in the mid-class and extremely poor people in the world. The take away from here is that the 1% knows how to take money away from the larger population of the poor. A close friend of mine will say, 'all the money you want is in the hands of total stranger and you have to give value to take it from them'. So long the rich can provide values that answers the need of the common man, they will continue to be richer.
214  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoin can end poverty? In a nation today on: March 24, 2023, 11:03:03 AM
For me proverty is not the problem of a person but of the whole nation in my country the eradication of poverty has becomes necessary for the sustainable and inclusive growth of the let state the fate here Bitcoin has helps the poor by Increasin their savings and access to capital also it has help around 1.7million people in my country and also it has also impoverished people to control their investment.

Bitcoin will not be able to eradicate the problem of poverty but it will be able to help those who live in poor or developing countries to get out of poverty. There have been many examples in this forum that have been able to get out of poverty with the help of Bitcoin. In fact most of them eventually teach bitcoin adoption back to their society, because they know it will help their friends and will grow their economy.
One has to take charge of their life to leave the poverty zone and not expect bitcoin to fly into their wallet and make them rich overnight. There are several opportunities bitcoin provides for one to make steady income but the problem is how knowledgeable you're to take those opportunities and turn them into money.

Including live facial scan that far worse for something higher than the current DEX P2P Naira /dollar black market rate, its a good development but its not worth it if they aint going to charge the official CBN rate. nobody they will take them serious.

PS. please guys beware of the email scam going on, MM do not have access to you private contact information and will never PM first- so many accounts were wiped recently.

The development comes with every shades of wrong. From KYC to high processing fees to higher rate than even the black market rate. They ought to have that thought at the back of their minds before partnering with a 'DECENTRALIZED' platform.
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many BTC needed for retirement in 10 years? on: March 22, 2023, 09:13:05 PM
How much money is enough money to you? 100k$? 1m$? 10m? You probably won't be able to come up with a decisive answer to that because human wants are insatiable. If you're sure having 100BTC will be enough for you to retire, given the knowledge you have about potential buying opportunities when you were stacking up on BTC, the natural greed instinct in you will not make you overlook a very big buying opportunity. Hence, you may really not be able to retire. You'd always come back.

Let's say your average price of getting 100BTC is 40,000 and the price goes as high as 70000. You might be satisfied at that point but would you be able to overlook if Bitcoin goes back to 20k? Knowing that the last time you you bought at that price, you're in massive profits now.
218  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: MetaMask enables direct crypto purchases in Nigeria on: March 22, 2023, 08:33:51 AM
Saw it today and I must confess say it's good development but the only issue I have with it is the high service fee on the transactions compared to when you make the same transaction on standard P2P platform like binance and bybit. Another thing is the issue with the BVN, that will comprise the principle of decentralization if one's identity is linked to a 'decentralized' wallet.
Can you brief us more about the fee deduction? Is it deducted in percentage? If compared to centralized exchanges like Binance, ether and ERC20 token withdrawal fees are high, but those of other altcoins are usually low.

If BVN is required, no privacy. Just like I thought.

But one thing wey I no like na the high transaction fee. If person want buy 0.0362 ETH at N48464.73, dem go charge you N1090.46 for processing fee and N444.81 for network fees, i.e about N1500 for the transaction which is equivalent to $2, and for me e dey high.
Is the few in percentage of the amount that you want to buy? If so, it is very expensive, even than using those centralized exchanges and withdraw to noncustodial wallet.
This is a pictorial proof of difference between the moonpay processing fees and other conventional P2P platform like binance and the likes.

219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Arb token incoming on: March 21, 2023, 05:23:26 PM
The price speculation has no real effect on what will actually happen. We can only wait and see but if you're looking to buy at a good price point, i will advise you wait 2 to 3 days for paperhands to dump enough of their allocation then keep stacking up on ARB as much as you can.
Disclaimer: This should not in any way be taken as a financial advice.
