So, Tone called the top, sorta...

Believe the hype?

The slower it goes up right now, the more bullish it will be later.

Exactly, even if we drop to $5k now it's still bullish as fuck because we're establishing support for extra fuel on the next rise  Cool

It's almost as if we're just building another rocket platform...

Side note: Anyone else remember when a 10K walls were normal?

Congratulations to all the long term believers! Breaking 100 USD might be just another arbitrary number, but it feels good man.

Years ago I did some calculation/estimate - something about capturing some percentage of black and grey markets.  I can't remember the details, but the result was 500 USD. Seemed crazy at the time, now it just feels inevitable.  Smiley

What's up everyone? You guys still observing walls around here?

165 btc buy wall on Quadrigacx right now! https://twitter.com/theshmadz/status/873688936912109568  (please excuse the shameless plug, but it's easier to post pictures on twitter)

Does anyone know how to figure out what that would do to the price if he got tired of waiting and did a market buy?

25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 06, 2017, 12:25:57 AM
I knew it, whenever brainless Monero FUD peaks, the price ultimately rises.

I would think that polo limiting (prohibiting) withdrawals would act as price suppressing. The only way you can get your value out is to sell your Monero for something else and then withdraw that...

Hard to say if this is a real effect, I don't know if the exchange rate of money is consistent across exchanges or not. If it is having some kind of effect, I would expect a little pop once they re enable withdrawals - maybe around 0.02-0.022 range.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 05, 2017, 05:07:51 PM
Yes Monero is listed on Poloniex, but currently in maintenance mode.
Bittrex accepting deposits/ withdraws so I'm not sure whats going on with Polo.

Withdrawals have been disabled since what??? Like a week now?

Anyone have any good info on this? (Trollbox told me polo got hacked and all the Monero is gone, but I'm assuming that is just FUD)
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 02, 2017, 07:58:40 AM
So, did some people from here earn big money with Monero?

I used to have some Moneros, but the Russians hacked them all in an unfortunate boating accident and now I have none.  Tongue

Happy 2017 to everyone, I think the next step is the 1050$ if it breaks i don't have any idea what would be the next stop of this rally, maybe some old bitcoiners have an idea Cheesy ?
No one can know for certain, but if the price holds above 1K for at least a month, I get the feeling that the blow-off top will be over 10K .

LOL - he's short at 167 and we're all the way up to? 170 right now? 2% is a rounding error in these markets.

We should reserve epic pics for epic fails, schadenfreude is bad karma dude.

(Edit: not that I'm saying you should hold your short and pray for profits. I'm just saying if you cut your losers quick and ride your winners you'll probably have more fun.)

What do you think? Is this finally it guys. Have we finally found support? This pattern doesn't quite match anything we have seen yet in this down trend.

We've now broken the pattern... But is it just one big buyer and then we resume the float towards or actual trend reversal.  Our volume will help tell that story I think.

But with folks Max Kaiser waking up to monero is just a matter of time before...

... China

Lets get fluffy pony on the keiser report Cheesy. Really I bet it wouldn't be that hard at all to make it happen. Or maybe there is more value in keeping a low profile.

If this were a poker hand it would be the kind that is a mistake to slow play.

If FP reached out to him in my estimation there is a 90% chance max would be into it.

Yeah, probably, max is pretty open to anything outrageous and anti-establishment-banking-system.

I'd advise against it, and not just because I'd still like to continue accumulating.

Similar to the way Satoshi reacted when the silk road news broke, I think it's still too soon. I guess it's always too soon, but in a perfect world, I'd have a well tested GUI in place and also a trusted fiat exchange lined up before I went around actively seeking attention... If ever.

I'm not sure Monero would actually benefit from mainstream attention at all , actually. If word spreads naturally through black markets that Monero can actually act the same as cash, i think that's preferable. I mean, I've seen news that "criminals" are using briefcases full of gift cards and other nonsense to avoid seizure and forfeiture. I can only imagine what they might do if they ever catch on to the benefits of truly anonymous digital cash.

Edit: I'd like to address my short-sighted use of the term "trusted fiat exchange" - given the nature of Monero and the nature of most centralized exchanges (hello KYC) I think an announcement of a distributed version of "local bitcoins" would be a better answer for the fiat-digital exchange. Given that such an exchange or "meet up" would probably end up being accessed by the same methods as people access the dark net markets, I think that necessity will indeed become the mother of invention in this case.

I don't know anymore. I've given up trying to predict. I think I'm gonna move to full BTFD mode, or maybe just dollar cost averaging. I sold a nice chunk on the way up and I think I'd like to get it back now. Was hoping for a better price, but my patience is wearing thin and I'll start taking whatever I can get.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 17, 2016, 10:43:19 PM
Are there just no sellers left?
As usual my bids are left gasping for air, drowning as the tidal wave of support washes over and buries them.

It appears as though I might have to make do with a lower percentage of the total than I was hoping for,
C'est la vie.

Edit: I mean, I can see the sellers walls, their asks just sitting there, tempting... But there seems no selling pressure. seems like no one willing to let go...

Edit 2: ah, here it comes?
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 17, 2016, 03:03:04 AM
I've been buying since 0188 and will continue.  There's about 150k XMR available cheap now.  That won't last long.  This is the biggest shake-out in history.  Since 1/2015 any how.

In other speculations, who do you think will be the next U.S. president, Kaine or Pence?

I'm still hopeful/delusional that the price will come back to me near the 130 level, so far it looks like I may have missed the bus,

In the speculators side show of the US election, my money is on trump, in a landslide.

Your point is taken however, pence will be like the chief of operations. Trump might be the face of the organization, but pence will be behind the wheel.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 13, 2016, 02:52:32 AM
Is the current pump over and is it time for the next accumulation phase to begin? I speculate that this will go sideways in the current level now and an opportunity to buy more is coming. But the there is another argument that it could also go down and that it would be safer to wait and buy at lower prices.

The comments I have seen lately are mixed and cautious. So it might be better to be cautious too and place your bids maybe at 100k satoshis.

LOL 100,000 Satoshi? When price is now over 1.5 million Satoshi?

You're a bot, aren't you?

Some modest but timely green shoots. A bottom @~0.016 would make a lot of sense considering the history on the chart and its starting to look like that's maybe what we saw @~0.0162. Cautiously optimistic.

Kudos. This is looking quite accurate., I'm still hopeful to grab a nice chunk at a lower level but it's looking less likely that I'll get that chance.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 13, 2016, 01:58:36 AM
@Blazed if you want to earn a lot or lose a lot there are many coins on Poloniex daily being pumped. You can get x3 or more a day. Or lose.

As a gambler you don't need to wait for ETH and Monero to play.

The majority of gamblers on Poloniex are in the loss camp. They chase one pump 'n dump to the next and get steamrolled by whales and con artists.

The majority of gamblers in any casino are losers. I was probably in that camp for a time as well. I used to dabble in more than ten different cryptos, trying to buy low and sell high... Once I started actively tracking how I was doing, I liquidated everything except the glorious 4: BTC XMR XCP and BCY (BCY only cuz I thought the game concept was cool so I helped fund their startup campaign) ... But enough off topic.

Moral of the story is that I now find that I am much more profitable if I simply try to identify projects that I think are a good idea and stick with those. It's not as exciting (or gut-wrenching) as the daily roller-coaster of gambling on random alts, but I've never had such a nice feeling as when Monero finally started to rise after a year or more of the market telling me I was wrong. It wasn't euphoria, or elation, but more like relief. Such a feeling of calm and confidence that I never got from short-term gambling, even after a big win.

YMMV  Wink

No i didnt mean it mean...i just meant that related to " phenomenal break out potential. " it doesnt matter if its 13 or 10 dollars atm. Just invest cause later WHEN the price it at 90 it doesnt really matter if you made 80 or 77

OK, gotcha, these are the same friends and acquaintances that would not buy bitcoin when it was 2 dollars because they thought it was going to zero, would not buy at 10 dollars because it was going back to 2 dollars.  Now that I think about it that way, I'm starting to think that if it (Monero) were to drop back to ten bucks they would probably be saying "I'll wait till it gets back to 50 cents"...

keeping this in mind I have to accept the fact that Mainstream acceptance will always be a lagging indicator, perhaps even a solid sell signal?

It's all good.  They'll FOMO later on, or buy some future dip.

Point taken, I'm sure when the price is 25 dollars they will be clamoring to get in at 20.  Wink
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 12, 2016, 05:49:09 PM
Pullback was not unexpected, was hoping for more actually. Targeting the 0.013 range. I have many friends that are newly interested in Monero and that $10 CAD / Monero seems to be a psychological "sweet spot" for them. They are less interested above that level.

Long term outlook has not changed, Monero still has phenomenal break out potential.

Thats kinda stupid. Expecting monero at least above 90$ soon and than argue with 50 cent from 10,50 to 10 xD

I think perhaps there is a communication breakdown here. At no time did I say I'm "Expecting monero at least above 90$ soon"

Currently Monero is above 13 dollars Canadian, all I'm saying is that I know people; living, breathing, actual people in the real world who are willing to put money in if the price drops back to ten bucks...

I'm extrapolating their enthusiasm to speculate that there may be others who feel the same way, and expanding on that, i am expecting some strong support at the 0.013 BTC level, which just happens to coincide with a CAD price of roughly ten dollars...

Hope that clears it up somewhat.
