201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Fundamental flaw on: August 17, 2014, 09:09:34 AM
Those few thousand darkcoins dumped so far out of the 2 million instamined coins to get to this price is only a drop in the ocean. Those pump and dump operations can be very profitable as long as you not miss the exit train.

Darkcoins biggest problem however is that it is fundamentally flawed similarly to Auroracoin (13.8 mBTC to 0.098 mBTC). You have to be the dumbest bloke in the block to spend money on something, someone else produces for free. No, the free coins reference it does not include you if you bought the 1000 coins expensively to set-up a gold laying egg (masternote) only the initiator profits massively, as with every scam. No price will ever be "cheap" as the free produced coins will keep coming. Eventually it will enter into a dead spiral because the more masternotes you have running the faster you have another one and get even more coins. 1 or 2 notes gets you nowhere in this race.

The other fundamental flaw is the fact that out of the thousand or so active coins out there no other coin is easier to take down by the authorities as every masternote operator is a sit′ting duck′. Central connection is utter failure, you take em' down one after the other.

Fundamentally flawed is also the mining reward. 500 to start with then 150 for a few months and now a whopping 5 of which the miner gets 80% and not 100% like at the start or with the 150 reward.

Thats what people have been saying since .02. I could have cut my losses had I not listened to this fucking idiocy. God dammit....

Sorry to hear about your loss. Did you take any time to learn about trading and the risks involved before investing a lot of your net worth in to DRK? I spent 3 months reading books and trading forums before ever making my first alt coin trade which helped me to avoid a lot of amateur mistakes. If you plan to trade anymore in the future, educate yourself some. It may be time consuming, but if you really want to make money in this game, knowledge is power.

.

lol
I took the advice of some of the posters in this thread (not sure of their usernames) and traded some btc in for altcoins yesterday (after doing my own research on it too of course). Thanks for the advice!! DRK and LTC are the two I chose and they are doing quite well.

lets see June 2
Litecoin closed at: 0.017 today 0.011  - 35.29%
and Darkcoin at: 0.022 today 0.0092  - 58.18%
and x11coin at: 0.0016 today 0.0019 + 18.75%
lets not even talk about cloakcoin up gazillions
Someone read the wrong books and did not educate themselves

Why did you pick June 2nd? Oh I see why. That gives Drk a big loss if you start there.

Why not choose July 6th?  That would make x11coin at: .0031 today .0016

That makes xc worse than drk. See I can fudge numbers too.
because: "Quote from: +EV on June 02, 2014, 03:51:13 AM" actually correct would have been June 1st

207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM Darkcoin instamine 2 millions DRKs (50% of darkcoin in circulation) on: August 04, 2014, 05:32:28 PM
Looking at the Darkcoin's dev, when people in Bitcointalk talk about the dev's instamine, and it is able to check via Abe explorer.
Today, he decided to do "Airdrop" 2,000,000 DRK ( are you kidding me ?, he instamine 2 millions darkcoins or almost 18 million USD)
Such a good dev, if people cannot catch his trick, he will definitely go with his instamine.

The first 24 hours of the coins existence keep causing us problems, an "airdrop" could be a solution to this. We could airdrop all holders (uniquely verified) with a equal portion of coin. This coin would come from a block in the future that paid 2 million+ coins to a specific address that I hold. We could use some kind of verification system like mastercoin (http://mastercoin-faucet.com/github-intro)
The airdrop would be a month or so into the future, so it would give users time to buy coins and become holders creating some demand. Also, we'd have a much larger market cap and the argument about the first 24 hours would become invalid.

How would you get a part of the airdrop?

- You must own 100DRK ( if you're new to Darkcoin but want to be part of the drop, you would need to purchase 100DRK ).

One of the following:
- Github: To redeem this reward, you need either at least three public repositories and your account must be older than August 1, 2013
- Reddit: To redeem this reward, you need a Reddit account with more than 100 karma.
- Bitcointalk: To redeem this reward you need an activity score above 10 as well as at least 10 posts

Any of these accounts would need to be created before April 1, 2014.

Let's take a look at the first 5 h of Darkcoin (XCoin at that time)...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4589219#msg4589219
Edufield said (after failed launch) that he will wait the next day to launch DRK (XCoin at that time) it is 11 pm.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4591407#msg4591407
Edufield disregard windows wallet and daemon and hurry up his launch, presumably to not have windows miners on board.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4592827#msg4592827
Edufield say he added four nodes for the launch at 4 am (5 hours later, despite his promise to wait). The 4 nodes from Edufield are 3 amazons AWS + another unknown (whois IP). Launch started at 3h54 am.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4593601#msg4593601
Edufield said the github version was not updated, nobody could compile and only Edufield was able to mine until that time. It is 5.09 am and Edufield instamined alone 1153 block at 500 DRK + 60 block at reward 277 = 593120 DRK for him alone in about 1 hour.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4593987#msg4593987
No windows wallet confirmed at 5h47 am, despite a user attempt to make one avaiable, that Edufield dismissed quickly.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4594096#msg4594096
Illodin, understand dev has instamined alot of coin.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4595573#msg4595573
From this list of nodes, at 8h34 am (4h40 after launch) there were 50 Amazon AWS node and 50 microsoft cloud computing instamining DRK (checked using IP whois service). This is 100/124 nodes using cloud computing to instamine DRK. We are at block 2870 and block reward is 500. From block 1153-1729 block reward is 277. After that it is 500 again hence 2294 block at 500 + 576 at 277 = 1306552 DRK (worth about 13M$ now) were instamined in less than 5 hour by Edufield and coworkers using about 100 cloud mining instances. Edufield himself instamined in not even 5 h from 600K to 1169K DRK ((1306K-600K)*100/124 + 600K) depending how many of the 100 cloud mining instance were its own. All this while having purposefully set the difficult ridiculously low and block reward 100 times what it is now.

From 6M$ - 13M$ in 5 h, Edufield did some lucrative work here!

Edufield is nominee for the Master Scammer 2014 award!

THE FACTS ABOUT DARK COIN

1. released without windows QT so that only dev and pals could mine it.

2. Instamined harder than any other coin out there  12.5% of the current minting was mined in the first day

3. Later they decided to cut the minting by 75% to turn their 12.5% instamine with no windows QT into 50% instamine in 24hours - nice hey

yes that is correct they mined 50% of all the coins available at this time by themselves in the first 24 hours whilst windows users could not mine.

That is the facts.... doesn't matter what else they say... nothing can change what they have done.

Once zero coin, or bytecoin with a decent wallet it released or another darkcoin clone is released.... dark coin will sink like a stone.

Every time they try to spam their coin just post this to remind them of the facts about their coin.

hehe they will accuse anyone to hide their scam...

LET THEM ARGUE WITH THESE FACTS

1.  The block reward was 500 every couple seconds at launch!  Not 20 or 50 coins every 2.5 minutes as listed.  There was also no windows wallet so only linux users could mine.  This allowed about 1.7-2 million Darkcoins to be instamined in the first 24hours.  Representing about 50% OF ALL DARKCOINS CURRENTLY IN EXISTENCE!!!  All mined in the first 24hours by just a few wallets.  Then the rules were changed increasing the block time to 2.5 minutes and eliminating the 500 block reward, (but only after the instaminers had claimed 2 million or so coins first.)

2.  Today many of those day 1 instamined coins have already been sold and right now approx 24% of all Darkcoins are held in just 10 wallets.  This could be 10 people or it could be simply Evan with 10 different wallets.

3.  My opinion is that it is unfair and unfortunate that this occurred and IMO it represents a very real risk to Darkcoin in that there is an opening for a good dev to make an Identical X11 coin that has all the attributes of Darkcoin, plus a few more features, and have a truly fair and equitable launch.  The instamining will continue to be brought up as it currently represents about a 10% premine given the Dev recently reduced the total coins that will ever be in existence to around 22million!

noob fools saying i think it is nice people mining early get more coins...lol you silly noobs.

you would all be crying when a coin comes out with no wallet and a HUGE HUGE HUGE % of minting is mined in 24hours that you will never have a chance at you silly people.

keep quiet over thing you don't understand.

Just print this to anything they say!!!!!!

the more they try to justify or excuse it the more people get to read about the scam..............

in the end they will accept it is best to shut up about it and hope people forget.
So true, I used to have more than a Masternote and could not figure out why the price keeps falling. Then i realized that the mining is totally flawed. What a shame the greed of the dev kills this coin.

The issue with Darkcoin is the release at the most  inconvenient time, Sunday 4 AM and then instamining the shit out of it with 50 Amazon AWS nodes and 50 microsoft cloud computing, no windows wallet is just another minor fact.

Sucks to be on the wrong side of history.
Well XMR outperformed bitcoin and is up 8 % last month and dark is down 42 % how is he on the wrong side?
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Darkcoin main issue: 20% value taken on each block on: July 26, 2014, 06:50:23 PM
I have exited this game a while back because the system is just flawed.
Its no secret that some guys have 50+ or in the case of the dev hundreds of masternodes. The more nodes you have the faster you can set up another one for free. As you get more and more notes, time needed to get another note gets shorter with every masternote, this only accelerates until totally centralized. Why would you spent 6K USD when some other guy puts his feet up and does nothing for a little while and gets his note for free while i have to sent fresh fiat.
Having 1 or 2 notes gets you nowhere, so i got.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | RC4 Testing on: July 26, 2014, 06:12:16 PM
.......

Anyone can set up a masternode. All you need is 1,000 DRK which is currently only about $5,940.00 USD. That's a very LOW entry cost that a lot of individuals can easily afford.

Wrong, all you need is a lot of notes. Its no secret that some guys have 50+ or in the case of the dev hundreds of masternodes. The more nodes you have the faster you can set up another one. As you get more and more notes time needed to get another note gets shorter with every masternote, this only accelerates until totally centralized.

Last night i decided to exit this game as the coin has no future, because the only possible outcome is complete centralization. Some one with 50 masternotes will accumulate the free given coins at a much faster rate and have 51 notes running long before someone going from 2 masternotes to 3. No new investment money is needed it is just a case of lean back put the feet up and wait for the coins rolling in. As time goes on this process of the mastenotes heavy having more and more notes running only accelerates. There is no way knowing how many notes one entity controls.
To buy in now and set-up a new masternote with new fiat is insane.

Please repost ! (as long as it takes) ….>>

Are you serious?  Did you even stop and think about what you were doing before you made this post?  A picture of a terrorist with a gun?  Really?  Do you think this is funny?  You ass wipes have been threatening people and now you post this shit?   I have buddies that died on foreign soil fighting scumbag terrorists like this guy.  You make me sick.

First a cop now a terrorist.  Well we finally see what the Darkcoin community is all about.  Your true colors are in full display.

I'm going to mine on the non-compliant pools and feel good about not letting you extortionists steal 20% of my mining proceeds.  Then I'm going to sell it and use the proceeds to buy cryptonote coins that offer anonymity without this bullshit masternode network that taxes the poor and gives to the rich.

Some guy posted some pages back about making 1 btc a week running his masternodes.  How many miners even get a fraction of 1 btc a week mining darkcoin?  Yet these same miners are now being forced to give up 20% of what they mine so some guy with 50,000 DRK can make a btc a week while they likely don't even break even.  This entire masternode tax is nothing more than a scheme that allows the rich to get richer while the miners get screwed.  And don't give me that argument about the price increasing and it will help the miners.  Guys are making btc running masternodes and the price of Darkcoin keeps going down.  What a joke.

I would have left this thread alone but when some jackass posts a picture of a terrorist  with the words "Do it now or we have to come over there" there is no way I'm going to just sit back.  I saw the rubble of the Twin Towers in Manhattan a month after they came over here.

Anyone wanting to boycott the 20% tax taken from the poor and given to the rich please use the following pools listed below.

Last EDIT: July 12th

These are the major pools that pay 20% more DRK

nicehash.com
