101  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Misinformation about crypto (bitcoin). on: March 05, 2023, 02:15:52 PM
While growing up in the cryptocurrency industry I have had my own fair share of losses while engaging in ponzy scheme believing that they were legit, not knowing that they were all fraud.
So since then, I believed that anything virtual currency online are fraudulent.
In 2021 a friend of mine introduced bitcoin to me, but base on my fear for online business, I wasn't even interested even when he broke every details down too me on how it works, but I refuse to even give it a try.
In 2022 I decided to do my own research about it, which i discovered so many positive things about it, and what gives me more confidence about it is that I found out that most establishment and government are into it, an it's been blend into their financial system.
When I started my bitcoin journey is when I knew how ignorant and misinformed I have been all this while.

It's good though that at least you did your part and try to investigate it by your own and see what and how bitcoin can help you it. Don't blame your self though, everyone has gone to that same painful start and think that bitcoin is a scam.

And what makes it hard like in my case I fell on a bitcoin doubler scam in 2017. But still though I remain very positive and keep pushing and truly understand how bitcoin can be very positive as you can gave financial freedom.

Just like you mentioned being victim of Bitcoin doubler scam, it reminds me of my own personal experience too which set me back in edging forward in my cryptocurrency journey until lately. I believe learning and going into Bitcoin investment isn't as important as understanding what general cryptocurrency stands for in our daily financial life and what it can become in the future.

I'm learning a lot in this forum now. What I'm hoping to learn now is what to research before investing into any Altcoin project now so as not to fall victim of what hindered my journey in the cryptocurrency world in the start.
102  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My father thinks I'm working in a shop,he didn't know I'm bitcointalking. on: March 02, 2023, 12:38:11 PM
Technology has made life somehow easy for us today. In the days of our father, they had no idea about working online, all their work to make money were done physically, and with strength, either they engaged in mini or mega business that will provide money for them.We thank God for bitcoin, that came as a messiah,to enrich the hopeful. Now my father asks me about my shop, and where it's located,I told him I'm bitcointalking, and he doesn't know what I'm talking. What do yours tell you?
Theres no need to emphasize that their era isnt comparable today that are digital. Yes not much on their time but you must remember that your parents bled for you to be able to study and attain something in life. Yes bitcoin is now on hit globally but it doesnt mean our parents are stupid enough not to notice that world is changing. Lets not brag that we can do bitcoin talk or any money making online cause traditional business always work best in their own interest.
One really has to understand that the sacrifice made by the olden days people is responsible for the ease of doing various of things we enjoy today. Not only the aspect of cryptocurrency but the entire aspect of life.
103  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginner Necroposting and Bumping Question on: March 01, 2023, 07:50:54 PM
This is the beginners and help board of the forum. So as a beginner, I am here to get some help. I therefore appeal to you to kindly forgive my ignorance, but I need to ask these questions so that I can get a clearer understanding and not break the forum's rules.

1. If necroposting isn't allowed to prevent spamming why aren't very old threads lock?

2. If I come across an old thread from 2021 and I think I have new input to contribute, would do you advice me to start a new thread instead of bumping the old one?
I have not read in any rule and regulations on this forum where it is written that long inactive posts cannot be replied to. Once the reply to a topic is not closed, replying to such topic should not be seen as a foul or breaking a guideline.

And on the other hand, irrespective of the time a post is last replied to, contributing to it in relation to current situation can still be done.
104  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Confirmations... Why they keep coming? on: February 28, 2023, 12:09:02 PM
The 6 confirmations thingy (on some platforms 2 or 3 is enough) is just an industry standard on where you could say with very high certainty that the transaction has enough confirmations. But the more confirmations, the better.

I believe the confirmations keeps coming to complete the standard required even after it seems completed. And the funds get released once it has been confirmed that the sender of the fund has the minimum amount required to execute and transfer a certain amount to the receiver.

106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin gaining this much fame despite it's restrictions? on: January 25, 2023, 05:25:26 AM
No matter the restrictions, the Bitcoin will keep getting popular as those who love decentralization when it comes to carrying out transactions will always choose bitcoin over every other form of payment. Bitcoin is also seen as a great means of investment which is superior to the trading of stocks. Bitcoin can make you huge profit with short period but can also mar your financial strength when it falls.

109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should your wife or husband know your seed phrase? on: January 09, 2023, 06:14:03 AM
When a man gets married to a woman to become husband and wife, they become one and everyone expects that they can get to share everything with each other. I know of women who have the passwords to their husbands bank cards and they can make withdrawals on his behalf. I will like to ask the Men here if they have shared their seed phrase with their wife's? I will like to ask the women here how they will feel if their husbands refuse telling them their seed phrase?

If couples can share bank's password with each other, I will say nothing is wrong in sharing wallet's recovery phrase too. One of the risks attached to such is if the spouse will not be careless to get the recovery phrase exposed to a third party which might be dubious.
Another is that the real owner might no longer be careful about losing the recovery phrase like when he was the only one having it.

The only advantage I see in sharing the recovery phrase with one's spouse is that the fund in the wallet will no go to waste in the case of the one's unexpected death like we've seen many who died with their wallet recovery phrase not known by anybody.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I will support Elon Musk if he creates a stablecoin for Twitter on: January 08, 2023, 05:40:43 PM
You want Elon Musk to create a stable coin, while you did not support Mark Zuckerberg to create one. What makes Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg to be different?

Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are just business minded people and they do not concern about others getting rich at all, you can see what Elon Musk did when he bought Twitter, he reduced the workers.

Also know that no one will create coin and distribute it like common water to people, even water is hard to distribute not to talk of money.
Most newbies don't understand that all the cryptocurrency projects developers don't create just to solve a problem but to make huge profits for themselves. Just like you said, the motive that will push Elon Musk to create any cryptocurrency project (Stable or non-stable coin) won't be different from that of Zuckerberg. It will be personal profit motive.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto payments for online purchases: Trends in 2022 on: January 07, 2023, 01:52:55 PM
Here is a report from CoinGate
https://coingate.com/blog/post/crypto-payments-overview-2022

I found the report very interesting. We all thought that 2022 was very bad for crypto as bear market continued for most part of the year. But so far as crypto payments for online payments is concerned, the data suggests otherwise. There is increase in total number as well as volume of crypto transactions. Another interesting data in this report is that bitcoin topped the total share of all payments. 48% of the transactions happened with bitcoin which proves that bitcoin is still the King of crypto even after we have thousands of alt coins.
It is really a plus for cryptocurrency world if cryptocurrency is accepted for payments, whether online or offline transactions as it expands the uses and utilities that drive the price of the coins concerned. Where challenges just occur is most of these stores may choose to accept a certain coin which one has not invested in. It means one will have to invest in or hold a whole lot of coin to trade on different stores online.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stay away from BONK on: January 06, 2023, 04:03:41 PM
If you follow crypto news, you might be aware about solana dog shitcoin called "BONK" is up 900% the past week . If you are thinking to invest in this coin, let me share an important fact regarding this coin. The top 20 holders 50% of the coin.

You can yourself check this here
https://solscan.io/token/DezXAZ8z7PnrnRJjz3wXBoRgixCa6xjnB7YaB1pPB263#holders

So, it is obvious that they will eventually dump it. Those who are investing seeing the dramtic increase in prices will loose all their investment when it dumps.
This confirms my suspicion about the project when i checked it on DEXTOOL.  The ratio score still remains zero  despite the huge pump. That pose a red flag. Newbies who don't know how to check the credibility, how much held by owners wallets, duration of which the liquidity is locked can search for the project on dextool to check the rating score and liquidity info to check if it is safe to invest into.
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Are You Preparing For 2023? on: January 06, 2023, 02:14:48 AM
We all know that 2022 has not been friendly to the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin, being the top ranked lost over 60 percent from its all time high value.
Many altcoins have also lost more than half the value they had in 2021, the several occurrences in the cryptocurrency industry caused several bloodbath we experienced in most parts of the year 2022.

But I am optimistic concerning 2023, I foresee a major breakout for Bitcoin and several other top altcoins, and some new altcoins that are really promising..

And speaking of new altcoins, ive been investing in Renec in preparation for 2023, Renec blockchain is one of the best projects I've found so far, the project was fully launched in October 2022, since then, usage and activities on the Renec blockchain has been increasing day after after, it's one project I wouldn't want any body to miss, so I urge you all to check it, you can start your research by joining their community on discord - https://discord.gg/Vw9ykjAWGh

So, how are you preparing for 2023, what or which altcoin are you buying in preparation for 2023?
2022 had been a great year for the crypto world but those who fall victims of seemingly great projects crash wouldn't see it that way. The victims of Terra UST and LUNA crash, series of DeFi hacks, FTX crash and those holding a significant sum of Solana coin will see 2022 as not being a blessed year for them.
Despite all that, 2023 will be great as bitcoin has since the final week of 2022 being stable at about $16,500. And 2023 is the year preceding the year of the next Bitcoin halving, the time to fill up our bags is now in anticipation for a great time that has nearly arrived.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The market will come back bigger again on: January 05, 2023, 07:25:29 PM
Hello guys,
With this ordeal going on it seems much-lost faith and bailed as if the whole market is going to vanish. This kind of thing happens more often in the stock market with inside trading, embezzlement, etc. In reality, it’s a perfect time to get in with everything dropping so low. It will come back and come back bigger than ever after this dies down and there will be improvements to hopefully prevent this from happening again. So do not lose hope and know that the bad time will inevitably pass, and you may not be able to make up for this opportunity again. Just my opinion.
The happenings in the crypto world in the recent time shows the market will recover in anticipation for the upcoming Bitcoin halving. Bitcoin has been staying above 16000 dollars for the past few weeks. That shows the support at 16,500 dollars is very strong. And we might never see bitcoin below 16000 dollars anymore. We all expect the next bull run to start after the Bitcoin halving. And the next bull run will be the hugest ever..

This by this identity in the cryptocurrency market recovery, it is still not advisable for anyone to go all in as it is always advised that crypto investors should invest only what they can afford to lose.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Do you know one can make millions with Launchpads? on: January 05, 2023, 06:09:01 PM
As much as launchpads help investors to fine projects to invest into from scratch, conducting a successful launchpad doesn't guarantee the success of the launched projects. That is why the general caution in the cryptocurrency investments are always attached. Do Your Own Research.
Your research should include the launchpad platform itself. How many project's launchpad has it conducted; the state of the projects launched on it; the percentage of success and failure and so on.
Ensure the project's aims and objectives are attainable. And invest only what you can afford to lose.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Polygon (MATIC) to $20? on: January 05, 2023, 02:23:21 PM
Polygon is so cheap and fast to use for "De-Fi". The sidechain has so much potential to take the world by storm. By taking the security of the main ETH blockchain, Polygon becomes a better choice than competing platforms like Binance Chain and Solana. Yet, the coin (MATIC) is trading below the double-digits. That's surprising to me, considering that the sidechain is quite convenient for day-to-day payments. If you compare fees on Polygon vs Binance Chain, you'll notice the former has the lowest gas fees. All Polygon needs is hype (mainstream demand) and it could soar all the way to the moon.

Do you think Polygon (MATIC) will reach $20 within a year from now? If not, why? What are your predictions for this cryptocurrency? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Smiley
If the price is going as it was in early 2021, we would say $20 price per matic is possible. But now, people looking into certain factors such as current market cap, current circulating supply and fully diluted market cap at the present and the projected price before investing on a coin or token. Matic at $20/matic means the fully diluted market cap will run into $200B. I doubt that is attainable with the team buying back and born a very huge percentage of the total supply of which over 87% is now in circulation. I doubt any double digits price is attainable by matic in the next 2 years.
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Doge can it go 1$ on: January 05, 2023, 01:41:00 PM
Without any real utilities and real time development, there's no way DOGE will hit a dollar. The major things that drove the price as it did the last time was the influences of Elon Musk. It ended up being used to manipulate traders which ended up being dumped on. No many will fall for that anymore. Not even the newbies.
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin investments have become risky this day. on: January 05, 2023, 12:42:05 PM
While the market is on a downward trend, Bitcoin the giant of the crypto market has seen a drastic drop, and other altcoins followed the same trend, will we be able to recover, another coin like Luna did a total crash which is so bad for investors. In this scenario, can we still trust a high and unpredictable volatile I investment such as altcoin in this bear season?

The market is currently stable with Bitcoin at $16,000 support. With that price situation, if Bitcoin should break $17,000 and rise up to $20,000 before the next Bitcoin halving, we might see the bull market beyond what we saw in 2021.
119  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people always speak good about the dead? on: January 05, 2023, 12:30:36 PM
I attended a burial of a well known criminal in my hometown because he was a relation. He was involved in kidnapping, armed robbery and all sorts of criminal activities. When it was time for the funeral eulogy, many people came up and spoke about their relationship with the deceased. All of them spoke of his kindheartedness, generosity, love, kindness, etc. Nobody ever mentioned about his bad character or criminal activities.

This funeral made me recall that I have never attended any burial where people speak about the true character of the dead. They only speak good things about the deceased. Are they scared to speak evil about the dead or is there a tradition that forbids people from speaking bad against the dead?

I wouldn't say people are saying good thing about the dead at funeral. Funerals are attended by the the close relatives, friends and allies who loved the dead while alive. The dead person might one way or the be other be bounded to be good to these people. You will see that those called to read parting notes about the dead are mostly family or friends which he will mostly be good to. So, what else will they say if not his good.

And also from the religious and moral point of view, there is a general warning of Not speaking I'll of the Dead.
