81  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is self-meriting possible? on: May 04, 2023, 01:43:35 AM
May sound silly but has anyone tried meriting themselves on a discussion they start. I noticed that the option to merit a post is still available on a post we make, I wanted to try it out, but I do not want to default, so I decided to come ask first.

Is it possible to merit yourself?
Meriting your own posts is not possible. I believe if possible, that will negate the core value of creating the merits in the first place. People merit your post based on the ways they feel about the positivity it portrays in the forum and encourage you to keep doing that or do more
82  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Darknet hackers are selling crypto accounts for as low as $30 a pop on: May 03, 2023, 07:06:01 AM
People might be using a bought verified account as a result of cryptocurrency law in the country of origin or residence. Just that most of the people using it are using it for fraud. And i still wonder why someone will place his identity on an account and sell it. If such account is traced to involving in fraud, i doubt the seller that whose identity is on the account can prove his own innocence.
83  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The two ways to invest in bitcoins. on: May 03, 2023, 07:00:46 AM
Making huge profits from whichever of the two methods above here depends your luck except you're buying to hold for a very long period of time. You might buy big at once and then see the price down. See the case of those that onboarded Bitcoin investment at $69,000. And you can plan to be buying in bits as price moves all for you to see the price boom to a higher height. See the case of those thinking Bitcoin might go below $15,000 and just bought a little at $16,000. The Bitcoin from the eventually went above $30,000.

What I see as the best method of investing in Bitcoin is buy buying with the funds you can afford to keep away for a very long time as money invested in Bitcoin can't be regarded as loss. It will sure be profitable inasmuch you hold for a very long time.
84  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are Promo offers from Twitter Influencers Scam ore serious offers? on: May 03, 2023, 06:08:54 AM
hello together, i have a question about Twitter and its promo influencers. I recently finished my first NFT collection its all new my twitter account has just 20 followers, but since i started listing my NFTs to opensea and added a post with explains about the added value of my NFT collection i instantly start getting rows of promo offers from diffrent Twitter NFT influencers. I checked the profiles but they seem more like professional promoters than scammers, but still i dont know what to think about it. they have between 100k and 1 million followers and the accounts are from 2009-2019 so they are doing this for quite a while. Since these people follow me, my impressions rised from 6 to 80 in more ore less 2 days so...what am i dealing with here right now? should i take them serious ore better just ignore them ?

Those falling victims of these scammers also see what the scammers want them to see. You see them as being legit and professional at what they do. But be rest assured that no legit person will ask you of your wallet balance, Private keys or recovery phrases before dealing with you. Once the conversation is heading that way, that makes the person a scammer. Scammers also look professional at what they claim to do. That why they keep having victims to scam.
85  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where should I start ? Bitcoin & Coding/programming on: May 03, 2023, 05:52:11 AM
If it's all about Bitcoin development then we already have many guides here on the forum you just need to learn how to use the search button or the magnifying glass to find the right guide but if you are lazy then check this link below and you can start reading DIY guides and books under that link.

- https://github.com/yjjnls/awesome-blockchain

Those two should be enough to learn about Bitcoin coding and developments and all you need is already there including the book that you mentioned above.

These are detailed guides but I doubt anyone can understand all these without having the basic skills or knowledge of programming coding languages. He needs to learn and perfect his basic before even thinking of going into Blockchain coding which are more cumbersome.

Now I can guess right about where the emails containing the series of malicious links come from. They always ask to update my metamask wallet with links to follow. This is really helpful for us as newbies.
87  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What d fxxk...my money is hooked mehn on: May 03, 2023, 04:52:35 AM
One of the disadvantages I see in cryptocurrency most especially the Bitcoin and Ethereum transactions is the huge transaction fees in the time huge transactions are taking place. The transactions with high fees are given priority to be processed over the low one.
If you sent the fund from your custodial wallet, you should be able to speed up the transaction by increasing the gas fee. Just that you will be more than you planned as transaction fees. Always check the fee suggestions before you send or approve a transaction next time
88  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: knowing the basic concept is enough for a beginner on: May 03, 2023, 04:43:32 AM
You mostly don't need be a guru in tech or trading to post here. Just make sure your posts are sensibly cool, you're good to go. In addition, there are several other boards where you can put up a post in relation to their headings. You can post about Politics, Economy and many more.
Bitcointalk forum is a community where all or most can be learnt.
89  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fast transaction speed is not a real world problem in crypto space on: April 26, 2023, 11:17:45 AM
Transactions in cryptocurrency Blockchains  are fast and still being worked upon to be faster. There is even one to be launched chain called SUI which is said to be capable of executing 1200 transactions in just a second.
90  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will you sell because of situations? on: April 26, 2023, 11:13:07 AM
This story is pathetic, the man who introduce me to bitcoin, his kid sis was knapped 2 weeks now and the kidnappers are asking for a huge ransom of  N10 Million Nigeria currency but the whole thing looks like a plan work from some people close to him because many people know him to be crypto dealer. Now this money is never available anywhere, the man's only option is to sell his bitcoin and even if he does is not up to the amount. Do you advise he sells and bail his kid sister?  Everybody is confuse.

Many things happens this days, putting you on a test! At what situations did you think you can sell your bitcoin and forget about bitcoin like it has never exist in your life. Knowing well the situation you're into many must have passed it and scale through without selling. What then will make you to sell even if the price is against you?

Such a situation is a matter of life and death. And the reasons for going into investments is to be able to cater for certain situations when they arise of which safety of her sister is one of.

Inasmuch the security personnels are yet to be able to rescue his sister, his only hope still remains selling of his Bitcoin.
91  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's a crypto/bitcoin scam that most people and newbies simply don't notice? on: April 13, 2023, 01:32:12 PM
There are so many crypto/bitcoin scams that have been discussed on this forum. As a matter of fact there is a whole thread dedicated to it but then again we still see people falling for new, sophisticated scams which at first may not look like the regular scams we all have become used to.
My question is - What's a crypto scam that most people and newbies simply don't notice?

The floor is opened for discussion.
Wallet phishing is one of the most methods used in scamming people and newbies mostly fall victims. The scammers make a scam contract address in the name of airdrop requesting the airdrop participants to approve the contract on the wallet address Dapp and thereby compromise their wallets security and steal their funds.  Some come as disguise for a project team to help correct some things on their wallets or to claim a free fund. Most of such people coming into your DMs to offer help involving your wallets are mostly scammers. Newbies should beware.

94  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance - a new problem on the horizon? on: April 03, 2023, 01:31:09 PM
The largest crypto exchange in the world, Binance, is going through hard times. The American regulator sued her, management was caught lying about working in China, and analysts found out that the exchange was donating to the Russian army.

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) filed a lawsuit on March 27 against Binance Holdings Ltd and its CEO Changpeng Zhao. The lawsuit alleges that the exchange violated the rules for trading derivatives, writes Bloomberg.

The regulator said that Binance was required to register properly many years ago, but did not do so. The lawsuit alleges that the crypto exchange “disregarded applicable federal laws by facilitating the expansion of Binance’s U.S. customer base because it was beneficial to it.”

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-03-27/crypto-exchange-binance-sued-by-us-cftc-for-alleged-derivatives-rule-lapses

This time, the accusations look more severe, plus the "darling" of previously unresolved problems. What is your opinion - what are the prospects for the development of the conflict and the impact on the crypto market?

I used to believe the US government agencies don't go to court except they have the facts holding the defendants at jugular. But seeing the direction the SEC VS XRP is heading, I believe the Binance will survive this. Although their might be some fears in the cryptocurrency community base on the pillar the Binance is as far as cryptocurrency is concerned. But I'm sure we will be fine.

The maximum or worse the Binance can get is being hugely fined but it will be fine in the end.
95  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you tell me which one you will choose and why? on: April 01, 2023, 01:33:20 PM
Almost every cryptocurrency investors will choose Binance over a commercial bank account because of the nature of their investments. Binance makes converting your cryptocurrencies into fiat currencies with ease even in the cryptocurrency banned countries through the use of peer to peer trading.

On the other hand, the country you're from and the banking service and insurance in your country matters. In some African countries, scammers can do some manipulation to compromise your banking security and steal your fund. Inasmuch you're unable to prove that the fault of losing your fund is from the bank, it means your funds are gone. But in binance, ones your account security is carefully taken care of by you, your funds will be safe from the scammers
96  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I hope newbies learn something from this on: March 13, 2023, 08:39:21 AM

-Avoid any project presales doing uncapped token sales.

I don't see this as a rule.

For example, ethereum doesn't have a maximum supply and it is still one of the best altcoins projects around.

Ethereum has unlimited supply but with recent PoS Ethereum operates on, I believe there will be burning which comes up from time to time to be of protection to the investors or user. I'm able to employ right terms to be used as newbie in above context.

I also found out there are more projects with unlimited supply. Take pancakeswap native token for instance, $CAKE has unlimited supply but the team has stated in their whitepaper that their will always be buybacks of the $CAKE from the swap charges and profits which helps holding the price to a certain extent.

Inasmuch a project in the IDO or presale is having a hard cap target and later removes the cap to raise beyond the cap is a red cap and no platform should allow that to protect their own image. Like the OP said, I prefer Seedify as they work professionally and have their own guidelines which can not be broken for any investors or fundraisers.

98  Other / Beginners & Help / DETERMINATION OF A SAFE STABLE COIN: What should newbies do? on: March 12, 2023, 04:33:49 AM
Stable coins have been the saviour and one of the banes upon which trust in cryptocurrencies mostly the altcoins rely on over a long period of time. A stable coin enables crypto investors to convert their coins into dollars without the bothering of withdrawing in FIAT currency form. This singular act has helped to increase the number of investors into cryptocurrency and also encouraged huge funds to flow into cryptocurrency investments.

Now that these major stable coins are losing their pegs to one dollar value, what should is the hope of the newbies in knowing the right stable to convert his funds to in the time  price falling in cryptocurrency to stop loss?
99  Other / Beginners & Help / STABLE COINS DEPEGGING: Warning for the Newbies on: March 11, 2023, 02:19:53 PM
The happening in the current cryptocurrency market situation calls diligent caution for the Newbies. I have seen series of people calling for LONGING and SHORTING of coins or tokens in relation to the depegged coins. Do not fall for such call as newbies in order not to get liquidated of your hard earned funds.

Be warned,
Take caution, and
Trade responsibly.
100  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The big banks influence on: March 05, 2023, 02:30:41 PM
Some countries where is a ban on crypto the banks and government work hand in hand to block any account related to cryptosystem transactions.
These countries are relatively better conditions with bitcoin transactions compared to other countries if you are from one of these countries you can avoid banks for large withdrawals of amounts. By avoiding linking your bank to cryptocurrency you can prevent that for sure.

But think about people from these countries where involvement with bitcoin/cryptocurrency can throw you into jail.  Grin

Whether in a country indirectly supporting cryptocurrency investments or the ones not, Banks as financial institutions are just tools in the hands of the government to control individuals financial activities. And these government all over the world will keep using all their mights to fight cryptocurrency because it brings decentralization to the world of finance.
