1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Grin | PoW Mining | Electronic transactions for all. Community driven. on: July 14, 2020, 09:15:24 PM
What efforts have been made to attract more volunteer developers to Grin? was the source of the large BTC donation ever publicly identified? Any estimates about how soon a mimblewimble sidechain can go live for Bitcoin?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [REP] Augur speculation on: July 14, 2020, 09:08:49 PM
Augur V2 launch is coming soon?  Any predictions for V2 market liquidity compared to V1?
https://www.augur.net/blog/v2-launch/

What prediction market if any offers truly decentralized market resolution other than Augur in 2020?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DASH Collapsing Monero UP on: July 14, 2020, 08:39:18 PM
DASH has performed better than most Proof of Stake coins over the years. Is moving slowly in that direction by reducing payments to the miners that secure the DASH network a mistake?  I understand the desire to stop the bleeding in terms of market value, but the truth is many other projects have done worse than DASH. Is making some masternode owners happy with a pay raise really worth the long term risk to network security? Chainlocks are not bulletproof as the recent stress test proved:
https://www.reddit.com/r/DashUncensored/comments/fjugrp/dashs_chainlocks_and_instantsend_were_just_taken/

So far Dash is managing to stay in the proof of work category of coins (although not holding a high enough ranking as it should have), this is quite remarkable considering how economically Dash already has large proof of stake component. We are just about getting away with it at the moment. But if we move further towards proof of stake, how long until we are valued as proof of stake ?

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DASH Collapsing Monero UP on: July 14, 2020, 08:27:05 PM
Do you think a fork would a DASH fork be helpful or harmful in stopping the collapse of DASH relative to its peers?

I would welcome a fork. I don't think the idea deserves the hysterical response given by some on here. The days of fork fear meaning doomsday for a project should be past us now. Bitcoin hasn't suffered as many feared, it has had numerous forks by now.

Everyone must acknowledge Ryan's proposal has a real (not imagined) risk that it could be wrong. I am sure Ryan himself would admit this possibility even if he thinks it remote

In the event of a fork

Ryans idea of altering block rewards can be tested in BOTH directions, sliding the scale towards more proof of work and in the 'main' fork more proof of stake as per the current proposal
ALL dash investors would receive both types of Dash. You lose nothing.
ALL masternode owners get to run masternodes on both forks. You gain masternodes
ALL dash investors get a chance to 'vote' by exchanging  one type for the other if they wish
THE market can decide where the value flows
Valuable information learned about crypto/masternode economics
Lots of publicity.

Enjoy this DASH/XMR pair while it last, Poloniex is delisting it because of low volume. Truth is this pair died ages ago, i'm not sure why people
keep referring to it.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/crypto-exchange-poloniex-to-delist-23-trading-pairs-due-to-low-volume

Must feel like taking away a toy from a baby for all these Monero trolls in here, i just hope they dont end up all crying  Roll Eyes

By the way, the uncensored Dash Reddit thread is not actually a Dash thread at all, its just a fud thread created by
a fanatic Monero troll named dnale0r.

dnale0r is the one and only real life troll i actually know (he tried to disrupt a Dash presentation once in The Netherlands in 2015 which i attended, we all got a pretty good laugh out of it Grin).
dnale0r is the sole reason why you never want to become a full troll, everrr.

iCEBREAKER (OP of this thread) : i hope you are not still mad on rango for delisting all your Dash masternodes on Dash Central ? All that manual voting on all your Dash masternodes must have sucked.
Also i assume you are over that polling proposal about having Ryan Taylor step down in his role of CEO over Dash Core Group ? Miscalculated the Dash masternode support for your polling proposal
there slightly huh  Roll Eyes

As they say : Carry on

The "trolls" you mention are actually some of the most important people that DASH community members should be listening to. Escape your echo chamber and you will realize that the people most harmful to DASH are actually "leaders" such as Basilpop
on r/dashpay that regularly ban topics with constructive criticism that has the potential to make DASH stronger. r/dashuncensored mods dnale0r and dashcrypto are saints in comparison and welcome free speech.

DASH is not perfect. Neither is XMR.  The difference is that Monero welcomes constructive criticism (see skepticism Sunday topic on r/Monero. The DASH commmunity instead stunts its growth with labeling tough questions as trolling and uses heavy censorship. You just provided an example of this censorship (of ICEBREAKER. someone vastly more knowledgeable than you)
>iCEBREAKER (OP of this thread) : i hope you are not still mad on rango for delisting all your Dash masternodes on Dash Central

You can continue to call people trolls and see Monero become more valuable compared to DASH.  Eventually you will run out of uneducated users to scam with exaggerated claims about the DASH network and HYIP masternode potential (without giving credit to the project from which DASH and most of its features were forked).

Or you can learn from those you call "trolls" and make an effort to improve DASH with regard to existing privacy, centralization and security weaknesses.

Based on the last 5 years, Im guessing that DASH "community members" (largely directed by masternode owners and moderation of dissenting opinion on key communication platforms) will continue to lose ground to competitors with communities that are more humble. selfless, educated and hard working.

Just wondering why xmr never copied bbr's way of reducing blockchain bloat.

A Monero fork called Aeon has pruning implemented by a Monero developer (smooth). If and when Monero wants to do something similar it can.

What hash functions AEON has ? BBR's wildkeccak is ca.3000 times faster than cryptonight, this is why pruning the key images is safer, when pruning implemented on cryptonight, the double spent attack would likely cause to stop or halt the network.

Both Boolberry and Aeon questions are allowed on Monero Stack Exchange. If the answers you are looking for are not there yet, just ask!

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: December 28, 2016, 11:45:42 PM
I cannot believe monero is going so high this is beyond crazines and alphabay fraud and money laundering...what dash is doing here? I need to see some development around and exept this i need to see dash to seperate its price as monero is doing.. So when btc goes up dash should go up aswell not get dumped to adapt btc price this is not competition with btc this is following btc .

I wouldn't worry about what monero is doing... 95% of trades are through polo and it's a really easily manipulated market. Dash is doing just fine and has diversity in terms of its distribution across markets and mining rewards. Add to that the healthy development path and funding and I think we're looking sweet for 2017. Once bitcoin levels off then Dash will rise as the new capital flows into alts.

Walter

This sums it up pretty good.

Sorry for long silence,  it is not very good,  will try to post regulary. I hope,  ziodberg will find some time to write something about current status too.

First: the coin is not abandoned, for sure. I can promise that if I'll decide to quit this project,  I'll declare it in public. I can't promise for zoidberg,  but I'm sure he will do the same in such situation.

Second: current status. It is not changed very much for last month: main part of the gui client is ready and is in the main repo. But it contains many issues,  it requires testing and fixes for this issues. It is not C++ development,  it is html+js coding now. Why is development so slow? I'm new in html+js coding, and I have a full-time job,  so I can spend only about a 10-20 hours a week on the bbr development. If somebody can help in testing or html coding,  I'll be glad.)

About the bbr-economy: it is really cool.) I have several projects in my head too.) But I think it is important to implement multi-sig for such kind of projects before. If you can implement it without multi-sig,  I'll be glad to help you if you need it,  my skype is jahrsg, my email is scruffy@nakamoto.pw.

If you have any quesations,  fill free to ask me.

I also have more experience with C++ than java and html but would be willing to help with testing at the very least. What are some of the issues that you need help with exactly?

Any more updates on the new GUI scruffy? I have been studying js more recently and am willing to try to help if I can.

I think over the next 12 months we need to make a move to divorce the primary Monero rate from BTC/XMR to USD/XMR.

In time the goal is for Monero movements to be independent of bitcoin's, so we need to slowly adopt the mindset of Monero not being tied to Bitcoin price.

Why USD, not euro or GBP or yuan or yen or...BTC? Why does it need to be tied to anything?

I see Monero buy and sell offers in MANY currencies today:

What is your commission structure? Is it like betfair in that commission is only charge on the end market result, not on each trade on a market?
Do you have in-play betting, if so, what delay do you have on the bets being accepted?

Sorry if these are dumb questions but I am at work at the moment but would like to try out your website tonight.  I didn't know there was a bitcoin betting exchange, I used to work for betfair and think bitcoin is perfect for a p2p betting exchange.

Hello

Our commissions are charged exactly like on betfair.
You pay nothing more than a commission on your gross winnings on a market.

This means that if the global trading activity on a market for a user is negative, that user won't be charged anything even if he/she had one on more positive bets on that market.

InPlay betting is allowed and welcome. There is no delay for inplay bets, exactly the same as other bets.

If you have additional questions let me know.

Your answer was not clear. I think we can assume "market" means sport but I think you should define that better as well (in case you actually count different soccer leagues (for example) as different markets.

You also need to define the period over which gross winnings are calculated and commissions are charged. Is this weekly? Monthly? Or is some other time period used.

For example if I win 2btc the first week of April but lose 3btc the 2nd week of April (and dont bet for the rest of the month) and I charged commissions for the first week? Or am I not charged at all since my gross profit/loss for the month is actually a 1btc loss

This page needs a lot more detail:
