1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Crypto as job salary - Yay or Nay? on: May 14, 2024, 01:07:33 PM
Let's say you have a job that gives you the option to have your salary paid in BTC, ETC, or any other cryptocurrency, would you prefer that or would you rather still be paid in fiat? If you'd prefer crypto payment, which currency would you choose and why?

This would be your hard-earned money that can either grow on its own or shrink in value within a small time.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: May 07, 2024, 02:15:45 PM
Let see if what adjustments both team will comes up this upcoming game 3, good luck to those who already place their picks either per game or per series.

Jokic has never been swept in the playoffs I guess. But of course, adjustment is necessary but I doubt they'll make the right one now that there's a rumor that Murray might be suspended one game, and if that is game 3 then I guess the Nuggets will struggle due to lack of offense. We all know that the Nuggets are about Murray + Jokic, both should play together so the team will play better, so it's important to know if Murray will play before we place our bets.

Minnesota's defense plus ANT's offense. Can't argue that the Wolves' overachieving postseason is anchored on this young guy who's really proving he's worth the hype and the MJ comparisons. Though I'm sure that not many though they'd take both games in Denver before going home. Mentally, it should put a lot of pressure to the Nuggets but definitely you can't count a team out especially if they have Jokic there. I've seen game clips where the Wolves are making it hard for Murray to even be in a decent position to score. Adjustments will be made but definitely these two wins will be a big morale boost when they start game 3 at home and a bigger challenge to the Nuggets to bounce back.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pi Network. Legitimate or a waste of time? on: May 04, 2024, 02:06:47 PM
I guess it's just not worth the time and space on my device anymore. Reason why I asked is because I've had it running on my phone for quite a long time now and I'm thinking of getting rid of it. Yeah, the fact that it's been too long without being launched should already be enough to make anyone veer away, plus the fact that it seems too easy to mine on a mobile phone. I haven't given them KYC information yet since I've been a bit reserved about giving them any because of the many red flags and the reasons a lot of you guys provided. But you know, I've had it for quite some time now and that's probably why I haven't deleted it yet. Thanks.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Pi Network. Legitimate or a waste of time? on: May 02, 2024, 04:06:38 PM
Hello! Not sure if many of you here have heard or are aware of the Pi Network. It's a project that aims to create a decentralized cryptocurrency network that can be mined using smartphones though it hasn't launched its mainnet yet.

What are your thoughts on this approach? Do you see potential benefits or drawbacks to delaying the mainnet launch, and how might this impact the network's future adoption and development? Do you think it's even legitimate or would you be just wasting time and space getting this on your mobile device?
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you care about what people say about you gambling? on: May 01, 2024, 04:54:54 AM
Yes I do. I even hide my gambling practices from my family and my partner. I had even promised not to gamble again the last time I lost a large amount of money rage betting. I would have hid it but it was too large to go missing. I too have a social life and is considered as a person who don't like to party or gamble. All the gambling I do are online. There are some friends and colleagues who knows I'm active in gambling as we do talk about where the better odds are provided for sports betting and who might win. There's a few friends who are introduced to online games by myself. Except for them, no other would guess the amount of time and money I lose on gambling.

A lot of people are like this. gambling portrays such a negative image that it's easy for most people to judge those who are gambling as addicted, thrown-everything-away gamblers. It's understandable though since this kind of hobby has ruined not a few lives. Rich and poor people alike. So casual gamblers like you and me would just opt to keep what we do to certain people who would understand or share the same interest. But I'm not, nor going, to a point where I'd compromise my daily livelihood or my loved ones just to gamble. To each his own, as they say. It's just that the stigma that gambling ruins lives will always be here and a lot of people will say something about it.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Suddenly I'm curious, do I need to pay taxes on Bitcoin income? on: April 30, 2024, 02:23:44 PM
Probably depends on where you are. Some countries on paper will require you to pay taxes for any income you get regardless of where it's from. But they really won't take the time to look for each and everyone's source of income, so it would be up to you if you'll declare and pay taxes on your own. I know a lot of people who don't pay taxes and they aren't even in the crypto industry. How much more if you're getting paid in crypto. Again it's going to be up to you if you're willing to declare and pay taxes. I personally wouldn't want to considering how taxes are being used by people in power.

And yeah, I also wouldn't trust AI for accuracy when it comes to tax questions.
7  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your view on abortion? on: April 19, 2024, 02:11:33 PM
Well the discuss about abortion is really taking a center stage especially with the freedom enshrined in almost all countries constitution.

Morality was taking a center stage, that it bad to take a life and in some countries, it is a crime to abort but such countries also go to war and bomb even pitals where the sick and helpless is recuperating. It is really a wide topic and I will just say it is a choice.

Some people have purpose to avert a new life to be added to the family, whether health wise or not, whether logical or not is left for couples.

About reducing the number of population like we have some Asian countries having that as policy, I think with the reality of economic hardship, homes in Africa and new couples are already having the mind not to procreate more than what they can take care of.
Abortion is a problem for the mother, and causes extraordinary pain that can cause death. This is controversial in society and is prohibited religiously. Another reason why people are determined to have an abortion is due to promiscuity and the man's irresponsibility, so there are medicines or concoctions such as herbal medicine to dilute the fetus in the womb, there are even massage shamans who want to do things that are prohibited by that religion. What can be prevented is that families continue to monitor their children and also that community leaders must make these regulations stricter so that they can be more controlled when there are people who have bad habits.

The problems you indicated can also be related to abortion being taboo in many countries. These can be avoided if people can go to legitimate clinics with actual doctors to perform the abortion without the risk of the mother being judged. This way, proper tools can be used and proper procedures can be applied to avoid these risks to the mother. I know people would say it's like depriving a human a chance to be born, but it's always a case-to-case basis. Some can be born without any chance of having a decent life. Some can be born to be really sick. I think the mothers should be given a chance to decide on what to do. We can't be in other people's shoes so we can't judge if they somehow decide that their pregnancy is not worth pursuing considering the risks and the possible outcomes. It's not always about one aspect of morality.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold vs bitcoin in a WWIII scenario on: April 16, 2024, 01:04:56 AM
Let's compare it to the situations Ukrainians found themselves in.
They needed to flee the country, but there was a chance border guards would steal their money if they found them carrying a lot. The same would happen if they were found carrying a bag of gold.
If they happened to enter the EU, they wouldn't be able to fly anywhere because you cannot carry a lot of cash and valuables like gold, jewelry, including watches, and cash. AFAIK the legal limit is somewhere around 20k EUR. So, in a situation where you have to migrate with a lot of money, bitcoin is the obvious choice.
If I remember correctly, in the European Union you can travel with up to 10k euro without declaring the money; if you have more than 10k euro with you, you can still travel but you are require to declare the money, if you don't and they discover you, the money will probably be confiscated until when your position is clarified. I think in the USA is pretty much the same but instead of 10k euro is $10k. But as I previously said, we're talking about declaring the money, not as a maximum limit you are allowed to bring with you.

The thing is, a WW3 scenario would bring out desperation and physical assets would likely be overlooked. Aside from Ukraine, try to look back at the wealthy jews during WW2. Not many of them survived as well. Money didn't get them salvation. In case of a nuke warefare, both fiat, gold, and crypto would be less important where you can't exchange them for more essential things. Everyone loses. But fiat and gold did get through two world wars and though it's going to be a lot worse, these assets will also survive a third one. Crypto, which isn't really a physical aspect may or may not.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: April 13, 2024, 03:07:15 PM
Oh well, the argument has turn now into a Jake Paul fanboy or not, Lol. But in any case, it looks like the boxing community here is divided already? Some might not like what Jake Paul is doing and not it drags the name of one of the legend in boxing and we say that it is ok for him to fight and do exhibitions match? And this could be a trend now, I thought that after we go back to the norm, this kind of exhibition match will end as well. However, it looks like they want to continue because they are making a good amount of money out of casual and hard core boxing fans specially if Jake Paul will have a dance partner that is a legend like Mike Tyson in this case.
Actually, the dislike for Paul has been going on for long time and he has received various bad comments among boxing fans because in several fights he chose fighters who old.
But even though he gets various harsh comments, this fight will still continue considering that there is large amount of money being made for their fight.
But I don't care because I want to see Paul beaten by Mike Tyson like when he lost to Tommy Fury or worse by knockout.
That way, I sure Paul won't make another ridiculous fight in the future because a defeat like that would definitely embarrass him and Paul would really lose his name in his debut as boxer.

Fight is still quite long and there is plenty of time to prepare everything, in this fight all I hope is that Mike Tyson can give big surprise by beating Paul.
If it is not possible that in the future there will be another fighter who could be equal to him and make him feel truly bitter defeat, there are several fighters who could be the main options after the fight against Mike Tyson is over.

Boxing is a sport where speed. power, footwork, and reflexes decide whether you win, sleep on the canvas, or lose via the judges. Unfortunately, these are well connected to someone's age. So as much as I'm a Tyson fan and I wanted to see Jake Paul not moving on the canvas, I think the guy will tire out first before landing any significant punches to Paul. Training can only do so much but realistically, the age gap is too far and Tyson is definitely not close to how he was in his prime. These Pauls are really trying to get into the center of fight games with Logan doing professional wrestling. I'd love to see both wipe the ring with their faces. Lol. Just kidding.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Claw Machines: a category of gambling? on: April 13, 2024, 02:42:36 PM
I didn't say it's an actual scam, though. It's a personal point of view, and I'm sure I'm not the only one seeing it that way. Also, being persistent means spending more time and money on something that would probably be cheaper if you buy directly. You'll be spending a lot more trying to get plush toys from claw machines than buying these toys from actual toy stores. There are people who are good in playing claw machines but I'll bet there are a whole lot more who just end up spending on tokens and getting nothing. It's generally a good place to waste time and money. Note the term "waste" Cheesy
Damn right, are they a scam? I am not exactly sure, but the odds are certainly not in your favor. God, these are awful machines. They have a worse grip than a newborn baby, and 9 out of 10 times when you pick something up, it'll fall right next to the exit latch. I've remembered them since childhood, and I don't recall ever winning anything. Can they be considered gambling? Certainly yes. Not all claw machines have stuffed animals inside; there are others that feature expensive devices, watches, electronics, or even cash prizes. There are even found in casinos, while they're spreading like a virus at almost every location.

Well it looks like to win, you'll have to make multiple attempts. I've seen someone on youtube that it takes a few consecutive tries before the clamp becomes stiffer or more rigid. If that's the case, I don't see why it's not a scam. People would be drawn to play amidst multiple losses just to get a prize that's not worth the amount of the tokens you've used. But I understand some people who feel that this needs perseverance. I just don't share their few. It's not something that I would want to persevere for since I see it as a waste of money. The process is even more annoying that enjoying. Again this is my perspective and, of course, there are people who do enjoy this activity despite the disappointments that come with actually getting a prize.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Patterns in Baccarat? on: April 11, 2024, 02:14:19 AM
Odds are very similar to dice, 50/50. I don't think there are patterns in general since it would be easy for long-time players to recognize them and take advantage. But even without a pattern, the chances are still way better than any gambling game. This being said, though, it can get more addicting. And then you'll notice that even if there are good odds, you're more leaning on losing than actually winning with your 50% chance. Added to the fact that, mostly by instinct, people tend to gamble more when they face losses.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: April 10, 2024, 02:20:16 AM
Everyone has their own point of view on the value of money, such as the viewpoint of the rich and the poor on money which for the rich may be the amount of $100 is meaningless but for the poor it is very valuable, but if we talk about gambling then obviously this has nothing to do with rich or poor because it all depends on each person's point of view on the value of money which means that rich or poor they have to take a level of risk that suits their financial situation, or it means putting a budget amount that they can afford to be responsible for if they lose in the end, so of course there is no idea who should take a bigger risk between the rich or the poor, because after all it is best to take the risk that suits your ability.
In gambling, of course, each person has a different way of taking risks when placing bets and this does not affect rich or poor because every gambler who is very confident in the bets they play will of course bet whatever money they have, but for them who can control themselves in betting will of course bet with an amount they can afford if they lose on the bet they play and if we bet with all the money we have of course this will make it difficult for us to meet our needs if Indeed, the bet we place cannot be won, so it would be better for us to bet an amount that we can afford to lose if we lose the bet.
actually what I see mate is that poorer is the most  affected here? because rich can lose this and that amount but the poorer? once they lose a certain amount ? that means either one meal will be out of the table .
the sad truth of gambling life that the poorer will keep being a loser while the rich will become winner.

Being poor and gambling is just not a good combination. I've seen rags to riches stories where someone from a poor family wins a lottery game and entirely change their lives, but I'm not even sure I'd believe it. It wouldn't make sense if you have barely enough to put food on the table and then risk going hungry for a whimsical chance of winning by chance. The problem I'm seeing here is that it's more prevalent in poor people because of desperation. Easy money seems natural for rich people as they know what it's like not to go hungry and have more than enough, hence, gambling isn't the same all or nothing for them. This can't be said for poor people.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Claw Machines: a category of gambling? on: April 10, 2024, 01:23:32 AM
For me claw machines require little skill to play, as everything depends from how owner set claw strength. User can simply randomly move controller and randomly choose item. If claw closing strength is enough, it will hold the prize like close grip. But in most cases we see how claw shakes and drops the prize the next second claw was closed. However that is ok. Low skill requirement is perfect for everyone to try to win the prize.

How does one determine though if the claw strength can be adjusted or controlled? I've tried all those YouTube hacks in claw machines including the ones you've mentioned but I just end up being frustrated with my tokens gone. I do see some people being able to get small prices but the ones that are a bit pricey? Haven't seen any take home a price. I look at it as a scam because I haven't won anything from the time I started playing, lol.

If you havent wont anything that does not mean this is a scam. You have said it yourself - you saw people winning small prizes. Claw machines are sort of gambling, when you know the machine is rigged, you know that owner is going to cheat you, but you still try your luck and try to get the prize with minimum attempts. It is possible to get any prize from that machine, gamblers just need to be more persistent. A lot of people try to get prize with first attempts, with spare change they have, as well as they dont this game serious. That is why they lose and call it scam. I dont use this machines frequent, as I rarely have coins and they dont accept cards. But in a tourist places abroad, I have managed to get plush toys several times.

I didn't say it's an actual scam, though. It's a personal point of view, and I'm sure I'm not the only one seeing it that way. Also, being persistent means spending more time and money on something that would probably be cheaper if you buy directly. 14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Cycling] Tour of the Basque County and the Tour de France on: April 09, 2024, 05:02:17 AM
Cycling is one of those sports that I follow, but not at a fan level, it's like those who find out that football exists every 4 years, FIFA Word Cup, that happens to me with cycling.

Although I can say that I follow it a little more, since I follow the news of the return to Spain, among others, but definitely Tours de France do make me review the information more.

For the injured there is still time to recover, I suppose in those with minor injuries, in any case the World Cup and the Olympics are events that take on relevance this year.

On the other hand, on this board we like to talk about sports but also about betting, perhaps that is why we hope that events are closer or happening to get our "eye" into more detail.

I have seen other threads related to the topic in other years:

The Cycling Thread

Oh sorry, yeah got it. Would probably just post again when it's time for the TdF and the other two grand tours where it's a lot more visible not only to fans Smiley Thanks. We can close this thread now.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Story of my life on: April 09, 2024, 02:15:43 AM
Have you ever noticed or am I the only one?

The more active I become with gambling, the more it drags me back, luckily I keep risking only what I want to lose.

The less active I become with gambling, the more positive it gets for me, not most of the time but my results are simply better than when I was very active.

It's like the casinos are wired to mess with the most active gamblers. I don't know, so far I can only find someone who has seen such before.

A friend who lives far away from me has also said the same, he got tired of gambling because it wasn't going his way but when he started talking it less seriously, that's when he started to get positive results.

Has anyone had the same experience before?

Maybe it's because the less time you spend, the less you lose. I also notice this trend and yeah, it would seem that the more you play, the more chances you lose as you stay longer on the table. And the house definitely knows this. Like trying to lure fish with fish bait lol. They love people who have less self-control where a single loss would mean more drive to stay longer and bet higher. If you think about it, it's a game of luck, mostly but your chances are less than 50-50 the longer time you spend playing. I guess that's where the challenge and excitement comes for many gamblers.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you advise a friend in the same way? on: April 09, 2024, 01:38:10 AM
You actually only need to tell him about another way of investment. But you never advice him or even force him to invest in Bitcoin. Let him decide himself whether he wants to invest or not. It is not easy to handle the financial of a company. We can't compare MicroStrategy and his company. It is probably too much different.

If you advice him, he has the right to blame you when he fails in Bitcoin investment. But if you only tell him a successful company in Bitcoin investment without giving any advice, you have no responsibility even if he fails in the future. TBH, I won't advice him to invest if I were you. I prefer to tell him about some successful companies in Bitcoin industry.

You can always tell your friend how profitable bitcoin investment is, but you can't lead him on his decision where to invest or if he's really interested to invest those money sleeping in the bank. This is to avoid putting you in a dangerous situation because if your friend follows your financial advice, and eventually fail in the long run, then you will be held responsible of his losses, simply because you were the one who introduced him to bitcoin. You can encourage him to research about bitcoin but you can never tell him to forcefully invest on it.

Probably the best is to just give the benefits and downsides of investing in Bitcoin. It's only an advice so it'll be up to them but sometimes, it can be really appealing, especially for first-timers thinking that it's going to be an easy investment. If you look back, people who made money from BTC and Crypto were those who had the capacity to hold on to their assets regardless of the market's extreme movements. Imagine investing a big amount of money that was handed over to you and then seeing your investment plunge deeply below its original value. Panic is sure to follow and losing money would not be far behind. I think its better to have them consider BTC as an option after they're aware of what they can lose.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it right to advice other people against gambling for personal reasons like?? on: April 09, 2024, 01:24:11 AM
.

Do you guys think it's OK to advice other gamblers to quit gambling simply because of your own bad experience, does your bad experience mean that every other gambler out there will also have the same bad experience?
I will like some really useful discussions around this topic.

Well, it's not really bad to give advices to other people because you had a really bad experience about gambling. Though, it may turn out differently for other people who can actually control themselves not to gamble away their life savings or going beyond his budget intended only for gambling, but this kind of advices will somehow serve as reminders that we can get out of control at anytime causing you to lost a lot of money. This story isn't new to any gamblers, we have heard a lot of similar stories about this, but there are still a lot who have lost money excessively.

Hmm, well if you look at the stats, I think it will be obvious that the majority of those that get deeply immersed in gambling had negative effects instead of positive ones. Not all people have strong self-control especially when it comes to the concept of playing with luck. What's really dangerous is that you start small and then you end up spending, or wasting, a big amount in the process. I would advise against excessive gambling but it would still be up to the person I've given advice to if they'll heed. I doubt that my personal losses would be considered as a factor for them to decide not to gamble.

I will exchange any amount completely safely
working 24/7
Contact me on Telegram: https://t.me/vad_chenko1.

This may be a cheating trap, so don't proceed to discuss anyone here. It is better to leave these places to keep yourself safe

Yeah, there are several legitimate exchanges to choose from with actual security protocols for transferring assets, so something here smells fishy. Though, if given the benefit of the doubt, it's still anyone's choice.

But from my past experiences, Telegram transactions mostly are something I'd steer away from.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / [Cycling] Tour of the Basque County and the Tour de France on: April 05, 2024, 02:52:24 PM
The past few days have been a horror for cycling fans as heavy favorites for the coming Tour de France crashed heavily in yesterday's stage.

Jonas Vingegaard, Remco Evenopoel, and Jay Vine had scary injuries that would most likely rule them out of the TdF. Primoz Roglic, who was part of the crash as well, thankfully  came out of it with no serious injury or broken bones. He'll likely be one of the top contenders this July, but without the current Yellow Jersey on the start line, bets understandably would be on UAE's Tadej Pogacar winning his third Yellow.

Any thoughts from cycling fans here?
