464  Other / Obsolete (buying) / Re: [BUYING]Need a tutorial writer, and trainer for GLBSE stock exchange, paid work. on: May 08, 2011, 04:39:00 PM
This is for the GLobal Bitcoin Stock Exchange (GLBSE) glbse.com

I'm finding a lot of my time is taken up showing people how to list on the exchange and how to use the exchange, as well as writing tutorials on how to do the above.

What this will involve is me spending some time training you on how to use the exchange as it currently is, to the extent that you can walk users through any of the processes. And teaching you all the concepts involved so you can teach others.

Helping issuers list on the exchange by helping them write contracts.

Helping users buy (or sell) what they've bought on the exchange.

Documentation and tutorials

Writing tutorials on how to do all of the above.

Writing... essays(is this the right word?) explaining the concept of the exchange as a whole, and how contracts work, and also how the exchange is different from other exchanges such as NYSE or FTSE.

Write up the FAQ.

Rate is 10btc per week(paid only if work is actually done) and 0.8btc per new listing.

Post below with questions or pm me if interested.

Training starts Monday morning (Beijing time).

You would probably have to help 2-3 people list per week, and we're talking about 4-5 tutorial documents in total, written and improved over a period of a few weeks.

I actually thought about helping people list as a service before you made this thread. I will help people list, but on one condition - you make the market 24/7... (I HATE 24/5 markets, I'm most available on the weekends). Also, I would like to help people list only and be paid per helped listing.

Also, I'd be happy to write some more example contracts (and be paid per example contract).

Furthermore, I think I'll boycott the GLBSE until it's 24/7, like a true market should be. (McDonalds aren't shut down over the weekend, are they?)

Other than the whole arbitrary not-24/7 market thing, GLBSE is a GREAT idea. I'm glad you beat me to it Smiley.

Some of my contract ideas are:

Contract-For-Differences (eg. US companies), but with capped up and down sides (and a fixed exchange rate for the duration of the contract) so you don't need margin!

Sophisticated price range contracts, and binary options: Is the specified condition of the price of some stock or something true or false? If true, buyer gets X money, if false seller gets X money (and so on.)

...the withdrawal limit of 1000$ per day is a joke for investors...
MagicalTux, the owner of MtGox, has repeatedly made it clear that serious traders can make arrangements with him for a higher limit.

From #bitcoin-otc on 2011-05-08:

(10:18:45 PM) MagicalTux: btw, people who live in europe and have nationality of a country located in europe can have their daily withdrawal limit (both in EUR and BTC) increased up to 50k$ by providing the required proofs, more infos at info@mtgox.com

I don't live in Europe, and I would never send the "required proofs"... How many people would?

That's the question.
466  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading bitcoin in person. on: May 08, 2011, 04:34:33 AM
If I SEE someone click "send", I don't think there would be need to wait for verification really

There's ways to fake it... But I agree completely.

Just gave my three votes! Bump!!!
468  Other / Politics & Society / Re: a question for left-liberals on: May 08, 2011, 04:01:13 AM
You folks are big on sexual freedom, be it homosexuals, deviants or whatever. I hear the phrase "between two consenting adults" all the time. My question is, why do you people disable your logic circuits as soon as these two consenting adults leave the bedroom? If two consenting adults agree that one will work for the other for less than minimum wage, what business is it of yours? Why is it only sexual acts that get this special treatment?

I can already hear the word "exploitation" ringing in my ears but who are you to decide what counts as exploitation? If someone desperately wants to work for $3 an hour then obviously they prefer that situation over the alternative, doing nothing and getting nothing (or getting an equivalent $3 an hour welfare check). Why are you willing to override personal freedom when it comes to work but not sex? Someone please make sense of this for me because all I see is hypocrisy right now.

I'm an anarchist, voluntaryist, agorist, whatever term is fashionable these days. I think personal liberty should apply to all spheres of interaction, bedroom, workplace, front lawn, whatever. If you want to run around nude or work for next to nothing then I think you should be free to do so, even though I wouldn't do either of those things personally.

+1 internets for you sir!

470  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HyperPool - The pool that pays you to mine! (Idea, with server available) on: May 08, 2011, 02:48:28 AM
I'm not trying to be a dick, but coding a pool isn't a trivial process.  It's not a Herculean task by any means but it's not something you just whip out in a couple hours of coding if you want anything even marginally secure and usable.

You could always start with an open source pool:  https://github.com/jgarzik/pushpool

Thanks Smiley I think I can at least read C Tongue.
471  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HyperPool - The pool that pays you to mine! (Idea, with server available) on: May 08, 2011, 02:16:47 AM
umm what?

Really dude?

I thought it was pretty clear...

The pool profits by selling mining contracts, you get a cut of said profits. (based on how much you mine, of course!)
472  Bitcoin / Mining / HyperPool - The pool that pays you to mine! (Idea, with server available) on: May 08, 2011, 02:13:32 AM
OK, here's my idea.

1. You setup the pool as usual... (poclbm, etc.)
2. You are paid based on what returns you generate.
3. The pool sells some collective mining contracts, I might allow a vote to be placed for the larger contract deals!
4. You're paid a little cut of the contract profits (proportionate to how much you mine) AND how much you mine!
5. Epic win Smiley

I have a nice VPS available, 2GB ram, etc.

Can someone explain exactly how a pool works in plain english? (Which maybe I can then convert to Python or something).

Furthermore, I might release the code open source... But only after a certain amount of donations have been recieved. (This is long term, after I actually have something)
473  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: May 07, 2011, 10:04:19 PM
Of course, if the exchange does not work, price does not work (change..)

Overall, the current situation of the exchanges including MtGox as the biggest, is far from working properly.

This can be one fundamental reason why BTC prices may go down significantly. Confidence into the exchanges must be high to attract new funds from investors.

Confidence is shaken now with all the DDOS.

Secondly, the withdrawal limit of 1000$ per day is a joke for investors. No serious investor will put hundreds of thousands of funds into an exchange if he can not take out funds within hours (max 1-3 days) to shift asset allocation quickly.

(This is no blame to people operating the exchanges. They are great entrepreneurs, do this often for free and doing a great job, but this is not enough, given the fact that 11,000 new coins are generated daily, 77,000 weekly, 335,000 monthly = 1.2 million $ at current BTC/USD rate)

I agree, these limits will cause a major drop on liquidity, and a decline in prices. (in addition to the already-insane bubble! Tongue)
474  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: May 06, 2011, 07:13:38 PM
Happy to run an Elliott Wave analysis, but as said, I need some support donations because that will take a couple of hours of in depth work, starting from May 2010, the start of trading and running many charts.

I wish I had any bitcoins... I would happily donate them to ya :/
475  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: May 06, 2011, 06:04:40 PM

About the whole elliott wave thing... Maybe it would be helpful for the community if you'd do an in depth analysis of the bitcoin using that. Maybe you should put it on the poll?

477  Other / Off-topic / Re: Political compass! (who believes what?) on: May 04, 2011, 02:08:58 AM
We started off with right libertarian people (like me and a few others), but the thread quickly shifted to left libertarian people!!!

What is happening to our awesomeness!? Cry

Let's just rejoice in our (so-far seemingly) universally-shared anti-authoritarian beliefs. We don't really conflict, anyways, since in a post-State world each community will choose how it operates, so there will undoubtedly be anarchic communities of all persuasions, and each person will be free to choose a community that best reflects their own values.

Fair enough. But being anti-authoritarian doesn't imply you want anarchy - there are varying degrees of it. For example, I still support a government run military, police force, and a few other essentials... But with very very low taxes and spending.

Sorry guys.  No more from me.

Crap! I was starting to have fun there for a minute!

On the other hand that means you forfeit and I win Tongue

UMAD!?
