441  Economy / Services / Looking for work on: August 10, 2011, 09:50:08 PM
Anything really, as long as it pays!

I don't really have experience with anything, seeing as I'm 15.

So I hope I can find some work!

I do have some experience with technical analysis however (analyzing price trends of stocks/bitcoins/etc.)

445  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: TRADEHILL BANK ACCOUNTS FROZEN!!!! on: August 09, 2011, 01:02:47 AM
Forex has the advantage of being an established industry. When I talk to banks I'm upfront and clear about what Bitcoin is. I've spoken to more than 20 banks in the last week and 15 said "no" when I explained what we do. I worry that other Bitcoin businesses just open a business account under "online retail" or something like that and are asking for trouble down the road. If you sell Alpaca socks for Bitcoin that's fine, if you're an exchange / e-wallet or something else based on Bitcoin then you're not being 100% honest with the bank and that can easily come back to get you later.

With that being said we've got a few banks that are willing to work with us and one is already up, the others should be very soon. There is a good possibility that as Bitcoin becomes more defined and regulated this will get a lot easier or it may become more difficult. I've spent a lot of time the last two weeks explaining how this works and why it's not just for buying drugs. Paving this road will benefit the businesses that follow but it's not fun.

Updates soon.

Jered

Bitcoin is built to be unregulatable.

I'm glad you're getting this fixed up.
446  Economy / Trading Discussion / How is it even possible to make money as a currency exchanger? on: August 09, 2011, 12:35:38 AM
Let's say I had 100 USD to start a currency exchange. So let's say I make a forum thread exchanging gold, silver, USD, and BTC. But then it hits me! If everyone wants BTC, however how can I get the BTC to give them without buying it from another currency exchange!?

Basically my point is, being a currency exchanger requires using a currency exchanger unless I misunderstand something (I think I do, so I'm curious how this works).

Discuss.

Can I join your team S3052? Remember me? I'd only ask for a very (small) pay.
448  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Beatcoins - Startup album: StrongElectro (Heavy Electronic Dance Music) on: June 11, 2011, 10:49:03 PM
BeatCoins is me and a friend's startup record label.

Selling our first album.

The price for this album is 0.0333 bitcoins.
There is no DRM or license, share with your friends if you please (please don't post it publicly).
These are all remixed or created to have a heavy electronic beat... It's like death metal for geeks :3

It's rare to find all the good DJ Amor mixes on youtube because it was removed like yesterday. (Navi G's channel) But they're in the download so yeah.

Here's a sample song (they're all similar to this.): http://min.us/mvjpHxl

Email me at starquestnerd@gmail.com for more details.

Also, the archive is in 7z format, the song format is mp3, the archive size is 125MB. (sorry for the big size... there also happens to be 18 songs.)

I am selling 24k Australian gold nuggets for 8.75BTC per gram shipped within the USA. Depending on USD/BTC price this is actually under spot value a little

I have the following nuggets available;

1.41 grams
1.67 grams
2.24 grams
2.33 grams

As with the silver thread, I am curious where you get this!

454  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What happened to the adult site listings? on: May 09, 2011, 03:11:05 AM
What happened to the adult site listings on the marketplace page? Why were they deleted?

Because, it gives a bad image for the bitcoin...

+1 internets for whoever deleted them.

I think its only down to make bugfixes and add features on the weekends. I see no reason once the coding is mostly finished that it wont be 24/7.

Why not just write the bugfixes/features whenever and only shut it down while updating?

Don't try and tell me it takes an entire weekend to restart the code Tongue

You don't have multiple wallet back ups?!  Shocked

Why would it be needed? I read about people backuping their wallet after each transaction and I still don't understand why.

Did you even read the first post?

Fail.
458  Other / Off-topic / The non-serious/sarcastic/joking political debate thread! on: May 08, 2011, 09:54:54 PM
Inspired by my political compass thread...

Have fun!

(/me doesn't have any good jokes Sad)

How does it work?

Name a political group and make a joke about them! Cheesy

Oh, and awesome jokers will be featured in the first post (and +reped by me)

Oh and please +rep if you like the thread!

inb4 being awesomely flamed about accusing awesome flamers of being awesomely flaming!

So your point is that we must all remain silent, because otherwise we will find some points we don't agree with each other and that for you is... flaming?!

I just mean that I'm enjoying the educated debate/argument. (and making off topic comments in an attempt to get people to be a little less serious and make some jokes)
