361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica - 15169.57 BTC Traded in the last 24 hours on: September 12, 2011, 07:17:24 PM
I'll be watching this, I really want there to be a good alternative to MTGox (Tradehill is not the answer - they won't allow a look inside their transactions to accurately gauge market depth). I just took all of my holding out of Mt.Gox until another suitable spot opens that is more trustworthy, not as shady, and doesn't deal with scammers.
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt Gox Break In Part 2 on: September 12, 2011, 07:08:06 PM
Looks like MagicalTux was lying about the wacky trades then.  When Mtgox got rooted the first time, everyone was forced to change their passwords to new, more complex ones.  Here we've got a prime example of somebody who's got both complex and DIFFERENT passwords on each site, and he still had his mtgox wallet stolen.

  • Bitcointalk had a comedy javascript added to the bottom of the page via unsanitized input because the forums admins refused to use current-versions (SMF 2.x) of their forums software.  So far nobody's posting accounts have been compromised or hijacked apparently.
  • Mtgox had some clearly chaotic trading activity on Sunday 9/11/2011, which was sourced from a ton of accounts that had different/more complex password requirements than bitcointalk forum accounts.

Yeah, those two attacks aren't related.

Magicaltux is lying to you, and he now controls both Bitcointalk and Mtgox.

So... Who said paypal's worse than Bitcoin?

Agreed. I took all of my BTC out of MTGox and moved them elsewhere. I'm not supporting a potential monopoly or their business practices. The fact that they still support Bruce Wagner is enough for me to sour on them.

364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SA Terrorists have taken my bitcoins!!! on: September 09, 2011, 08:34:19 PM
and nobody on this forum will do anything about it! when does it stop! when DOES IT! ??

I AGREE! These terrorists are out of control!

SELL WHILE YOU STILL HAVE SOMETHING TO SELL!
365  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Is my money safe at Mt. Gox on: September 09, 2011, 08:32:23 PM
If you look at teh codez of the hack, it's a pretty sophisticated attack.

If you were still logged onto Gox or if you hadn't cleared your cookies they likely have compromised your Gox account already.

I've put in my sell order, I would advise everyone else to do the same. We can get back in later, but do something while you still have control of your coins and the terrorists haven't taken them yet.
366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Forum hacked? on: September 09, 2011, 08:27:33 PM
Seriously, this forum needs to be upgraded.

Also, it could use a Slashdot-like auto-moderation system, so all the buzz, trolls, spam & some scammers are automatically filtered out.
It's too loud here to even discuss seriously about anything. A bunch of schoolkids, spammers, scammers & other screwed people are making this place miserable. It should be fixed long ago.

I don't know about SMF, but surely there is some plugin like that avaiable for PHPBB.

Would you filter out "some scammers", but leave others behind? Or would you just get rid of them all, especially Bruce Wagner?

1. I haven't investigated Bruce Wagner enough to have a 100% opinion, however after doing some reading i think there is at least 63% probability that he is a scammer. That is my, subjective opinion however.

2. Check out yourself how the slashdot moderation system works. It really nicely mods out any spamming/scamming practices very quickly. I think it is the best on the net.

That's true, I really like Slashdot.

367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcointalk.org Hacked by SomethingAwful??? (PICS) on: September 09, 2011, 08:26:29 PM
...this makes me wonder if there's a "F"'ing admin in this place...

There is only Cosby
368  Other / Off-topic / Re: THIS IS THE 9/11 ANNIVERSARY TERRORIST ATTACK on: September 09, 2011, 08:25:47 PM
It all makes fucking sense now, terrorists are trying to destroy our way of life and we can't do anything about it. fucking terrorists

I know. They'll take our forums, but they'll never take our Bitcoin!

Excellent. They have now committed a crime.

Looks like the bitcointalk.org server is hosted in USA.

What's the US equivalent to the UK's Computer Misuse Act ?

Why would you run to the government to help you out? If you are so dead set on being free of their currency and rule, then you wouldn't want to involve them.

I smell a poser libertarian in our midst. You don't believe in the FREE MARKET, sir!

Call the Cyberpolice, because consequences will never be the same!
371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcointalk.org Hacked by SomethingAwful??? (PICS) on: September 09, 2011, 07:56:26 PM
Bruce told me he did it.

That's strange, I'm sure I read a review from a Ted Williams saying that Bruce was an upstanding gentlemen who would never do anything illegal.

Forums member Rassah will vouch for Bruce being a wholesome and upstanding citizen.
372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcointalk.org Hacked by SomethingAwful??? (PICS) on: September 09, 2011, 07:50:53 PM
Im holding onto my Bitcoins, despite these shenanigans!

Cosby, you'll never take us down!
373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Forum hacked? on: September 09, 2011, 07:45:12 PM
Hahaha this is pretty funny. Nothing about Bitcoin is safe these days.

Holy shit Cosby is everywhere!
374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: September 09, 2011, 04:29:32 PM
And you're still making assumptions based on your own preconcieved opinions of the guy. But you have your set opinion, so whatever.

Pot, kettle...

Exactly! Thank you!

And you're still making assumptions based on your own preconcieved opinions of the guy. But you have your set opinion, so whatever.

The judgements of courts and the statements of prosecutors and judges aren't my own preconceived opinions. Your statements, on the other hand, are coming out of thin air. You had a friend who skipped out on his rathole apartment one time, so Bruce getting sued for half a million in back rent was probably a similar situation when you think about it!

It's like you're convinced that Bruce is a heavenly angel and you can't help but look at everything he does in the absolute best light. You're like Latarian Milton's grandma when it comes to Bruce. It's almost kinda creepy.

Friend didn't skip out, but wanted to. I've repeatedly said that Bruce is an untrustworthy and unscrupulous person. The dead horse I am apparently beating is the statement that "Bruce didn't defend himself because he was obviously at fault" is nothing but speculation, and in my opinion no better or worse than the statement that "Bruce didn't defend himself because the business was such a collosal failure that there was no point in wasting any more lawyer money." The only facts we have are that he didn't perform (nothing about whether he even tried), a claim that all of it was a scam, based on false advertising (we don't actually know his real intent for starting this), and that there is a lot of stuff that we don't know.
Also, half a million in back rent? Are you sure you're not mixing up more numbers? Assuming he stayed at the place for two years before running, that's $42,000 a month in rent... This is also kind of what I'm talking about: unchecked accusations end up mixing up and snowballing into wild ones.

Was he a fox or raccoon by chance?
375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: September 08, 2011, 09:00:46 PM
Why are you and Rassah etc. so obsessed with defending him?  If you don't want to join in any boycott then why keep posting instead of moving on?

You his buddies?

Don't know him personally, no. Don't actually have an opinion of him, since all I know of him is what the court's opinions of his actions are, and the persona he projects on camera. Those do not a person make. From a business sense, I would be very wary of hiring him to do anything or giving him my money. From a personal hanging-out type sense, I don't know, he seems like a fun guy. Do I think he's despicable for what he did? I don't know, because I'm still not convinced of the facts. Thing is, none of you here know all the facts, either. Just court decisions, and a lot of speculation.
Why am I "defending" him? I guess it just bothers me when I see a shit-ton of angry trolls start witch hunts, which quickly go from court decisions based on he-said she-said, to wild accusations about who the hell knows what.
Bottom line is, I can say that the court evidence is damning, but doesn't tell me everything. Can you say that you know for a fact that Bruce does not feel remorse for screwing up the people he did, whether through scam or shit business idea?

Not convinced at the facts? Are you serious? The guy ran a mortgage scam, preying on the desperate, and never had any intention nor did he ever actually help anyone, in any way, aside from relieving them of their money. That's documented fact. I'm not sure what else you would need to determine he's a despicable person.
376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: September 08, 2011, 08:58:04 PM
Difference between Bruce and some certain bitcointalk members:

Bruce
is always optimistic, has positive energy and forward looking
does something by himself, is active - the bitcoin show, bitcoin conference(s)
tries to evangelize bitcoin, convinces shops to accept bitcoins

Certain bitcointalk members
are always destructive, suspects everyone being a scammer
are passive, see everything as bad
 wait until others do something
 badmouth bitcoin

So looking at the above comparison, I say, for the value of my own bitcoins and the whole bitcoin economy, I rather get rid of the BlockHashes, Colargols and wolftaurs (so to speak) than Bruce

You left out the part about Bruce being a known scammer, among other things, and the fact that I have no such stains upon my record. Oh, and I don't badmouth Bitcoins, I'm completely behind it but I dont like the direction it is headed. And passive? You need to check your definitions.

Otherwise, carry on.
377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: September 08, 2011, 08:51:38 PM
Because unpaid parking tickets are exactly like multi-million dollar mortgage scams, among other things.

Multi-million now? I you sure it wasn't billions? It's like the charges against Bruce on this forum are like Bitcoin, going "Up... up... up...!" (wasn't the ruling about amounts ranging from $600 to $3000?)

Read the Illinois State Prosecutors documents. It was well in excess of $1 million all told and he only had to pay a fractional percentage of that value and it still ended up at $500k.  Well, he obviously didn't care enough about the order to pay it back, but the point still stands.
378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: September 08, 2011, 08:31:42 PM

Honestly, I think half the posters on this thread deserve to be ripped off out of every last dime they have. The stupidity is astounding. "Oh, it was years ago." Yes, people. Conveniently forget the CURRENT, ACTIVE case in New York. If I recall right that one is an over half a million dollar judgment.

What the fuck do you think he did to get that, swiped a pack of cigarettes?

Jesus Christ people. Stop apologizing for the criminal. This is what's going to kill bitcoin. How many of you are absolute fucking idiots.

What DID he do to deserve a half million dollar judgement? And did he hurt you, or the bitcoin community, personally for them to be so enraged about it? If not, just consider him a bad and untrustworthy man, and move on. If the trangressions that have nothing to do with Bitcoin, by some guy with an obscure internet TV show, can kill Bitcoin, then Bitcoin has bigger problems than Bruce Wagner!

And yet you are just fine with him leading the gullible and promoting himself as some kind of Bitcoin Messiah?

It's funny, the biggest things that Bitcoin is known for in the public eye is scamming. And you people want a well-known scammer to be the face of the currency? Like it or not, he is the face of the currency as far as the media is concerned and you'll never get people to adopt if their first impression is Bruce fuckin' Wagner.

I concur. For example, everyone that was stupid enough to use mybitcoin. I mean what is the sense of a distributed currency when you store it centrally - plain stupid. And everyone that think that Bruce rapes children because he fucks 20+ year old "boys" in Thailand - plain stupid. And of course, everyone that send bitcoins to Bruce - why should I thrust anyone but me? This list could go on and on.

"Oh, it was years ago." Yes, people. Conveniently forget the CURRENT, ACTIVE case in New York. If I recall right that one is an over half a million dollar judgment.
And why should I care? Would I send him my bitcoins/money. No! So why should I care?
Maybe you have an unpaid speeding ticket - probably we should hang you on the next tree. No? Exactly! Why should we care?

Jesus Christ people. Stop apologizing for the criminal. This is what's going to kill bitcoin. How many of you are absolute fucking idiots.
I am starting to believe you hate him so much, because since we have Bruce you are no longer the only gay in bitcoin town.

Because unpaid parking tickets are exactly like multi-million dollar mortgage scams, among other things.

Could be, but what diffidence does it make for you? Are you going to make some business with Bruce? Are you going to marry him? What else? So why should we care? I mean we "use" him as a sort of bitcoin advertising spokesman. Now, when you saw that tv commercial of that car that you own, did you start caring about the private life of the person in there? Did you try to find out everything about this stranger? No? So why Bruce? Why are you so obsessed with Bruce?

It's been pointed out before - in a market like Bitcoin, trust is the key element in being able to have a strong currency. He's been proven to be anything but trustworthy, therefore the community needs to know so he can be shut down and stop being a drag on Bitcoin as a whole. He associates his name with the currency like he's in charge of it and it wont be long before the media picks it up and goes with it, which will cause even more ridicule and steer people away from investing in it.

As for a commercial on TV when I buy a car, I always look at the company that I'm going to do business with and their reputation. Just because they haven't personally scammed or cheated me, doesn't mean it can't or won't happen and vigilance has kept it from happening to me and my friends. This has nothing to do with his private life and everything to do with his public and business life, period.
