I'm having problems with my miners (hardware issues), so I asked for an early payment from monerohash (wrote to admin@monerohash.com) without any answer... can you help me? I don't always reply instantly to emails. Some times I may reply pretty quick, some other times I may take up to 48 hours, but I think I usually do within 24 hours. Just wanted to mention that https://monerohash.com/ now supports SSL/TLS connections on port 9999. With Claymore's GPU v9.7 miner using an encrypted connection reduces the dev fee from 2.5% to 2%. Feel free to give it a try. |

Sorry guys, I'm don't frequent this forum as much as I used to in the past, and never realized someone had posted in this old thread. As you may already know we went through the fork with no problem. Regarding luck... yes, we have ups and downs like every one  . Some times we may be extremely lucky, and some other times extremely unlucky. I've just enabled support for SSL/TLS for miners connections. In the case of Claymore's GPU miner you get a discount on the dev fee from 2.5% to 2% if you use SSL. |

I'd like that to happen the reason minergate has so much hash is because they have a browser miner.... which, you know, is just weird.
Mining in the browser is actually extremely slow. Most probably the reason they have so much hash is because their GUI miner has a "Smart Mining" feature (enabled by default) that mines the most profitable coin, which right now happens to be Monero. And that's probably why Minergate's XMR hash has gone up a lot from what they used to have. |

Payments are run twice per day. EDIT: To clarify, the mininum of 7 XMR and the frequency of 2 payments per day is for exchanges addresses. Normal minimum payout is 0.3 XMR. |

The specs are: KVM virtualization, 512MB RAM (490 actually), 20GB SSD, 1 vCPU (3.3ghz). I thought I would give it a try, so far is good, the SSD performance is below what I was expecting but for that price I think it's still a good deal. I'll see how it goes, maybe I'll use another provider in the future for a slightly higher cost ($3.60-$4.50) |

Am I missing something? How is cash digital?
Wire transfer, interact transfer, visa, etc. You can transfer fiat electronically in many ways however none of them are decentralized. Nor private. IMO that diagram is confusing: Fiat money can't be digital and private at the same time, it can be private only in the form of cash, which is not digital. |

The 1 TB version i built comes to ~$300 with a 750 ti, so you could get 250 h/s. And these are all retail component costs. Perhaps someday I'd be able to get scale prices somehow. Proper cooling has proven to be a pain - its difficult to find high quality small form factor fans - fans that could last 5 years of constant runtime. And then the question of how loud the fans can be.
The best solution for a 10 year low- or no-maintenance device is to go completely fanless. Forget the GPU unless you can find something decent that is fanless and can be mounted in a fanless chassis (which requires very low thermal output) and instead use a high efficiency CPU with good hash rate like the one we talked about on IRC (hash rate is roughly 120 for 15 watts, possibly less) with a brick PSU. It might require maintenance if the HD dies, but that's about it. Switching to SSD would reduce that. Even with with HD you can't do it $300 though. Not quite yet, but maybe next year. Unfortunately what kills the price here is that the really cheap CPUs (Celeron, Atom, etc.) can't mine XMR well, but many of them can mine AEON. If you accept a much lower hash rate and efficiency you can still do it, and probably come in below $300 for the whole system. There's this Tronsmart Ara x5 for $150 which is fanless, has an Intel Atom x5-Z8300 CPU (2MB cache and supports AES-NI!), 2GB of RAM, and 32GB eMMC. I wonder how much H/s it could pull, given its 2MB cache and AES-NI support. Only downside (for me) is that it doesn't support Linux yet. Also there's this Kickstarter campaign for a Raspberry-Pi style board with an Atom x5-Z8300 CPU for ~$100. This one will support Linux. that and its a ~5 year box at current network usage... perhaps 2 year box at real usage. 32 gb? how does it not support linux? for 150$ this could be a fun experiment. If block time is modified to 2 minutes then it should last longer. Also, you can always add an external storage. Regarding Linux... I don't know, maybe it's not that hard to make it work but it doesn't support it officially, and I haven't found any guide on the net, though this device is pretty new so it may take some time for some guide to appear. I'm not sure how accurate that map is. I have been running a full node in Italy now for a little more than a month and it has yet to show on the map. (yes, it's working, > 30 INC connections) Could you check your node's IP on this site https://www.iplocation.net/ and tell me which country it reports for "Geolocation data from MaxMind" (the last one from the list) ? Thanks! Italy Hmmm... weird, maybe the DB has no coordinates for it and that's why it's not showing up. If you would like, please PM me your IP and I'll check what's going on (I'm the one running monerohash.com). I'll probably do that tomorrow as I'm goind to bed right now. |

Regarding running bitmonerod through Tor, I can run it just fine with torsocks. When launching bitmonerod I get a bunch of libtorsocks(6718): WARNING: The symbol res_query() was not found in any shared library with the reported error: Not Found!
Also, we failed to find the symbol __res_query() with the reported error: Not Found and a bunch of libtorsocks(6716): sendto: Connection is a UDP or ICMP stream, may be a DNS request or other form of leak: rejecting. but it runs well and syncs properly after that. All connected peers are reported as 127.0.0.1:9050. |

LMDB still won't work because the LMDB design requires 64 bit. There is an experimental branch of LMDB called VL32 but that is likely never going to be a great option because the developer says "I am philosophically opposed to supporting 32 bit architectures in LMDB." and "Due to the added system calls involved, it is significantly slower" and "Fundamentally, supporting this feature in LMDB is the wrong thing to do." Quotes from http://www.openldap.org/lists/openldap-technical/201501/msg00127.htmlAt this point the best approach for 32 bit embedded is going to be BDB, although in the future there might be an even better option (BDB has some issues, but at least the implementation exists). On RPi2 it serves as a nice (successful!) functional test is still likely too slow to ever actually use. Some work has been done to optimize it, mostly by NoodleDoodle. For those interested in running bitmonerod on a Raspberry Pi 2, it seems to work now with LMDB.
I don't know why, all I did was sudo apt-get update && upgrade after a period of not using the rpi.
Sync time is still slow, but it seems faster than BDB.
When I tried with LMDB approx two months ago, sync time was >10 days. (I shut down my RPi2 after 10 days.) Has the ARM code base been updated, so that things are faster now? I think I spoke too soon because the daemon froze at block 345, now I seem to be having input/output problems with the SD card. Going to try it later with the blockchain stored on a USB drive. Mine also gets stuck at 345. Setting log level to 1 shows that block f75483b9941492ed9b4e23a90143da59002647232310230b17baeebe4f97c3d5, which happens to be block #346 ( http://moneroblocks.eu/block/f75483b9941492ed9b4e23a90143da59002647232310230b17baeebe4f97c3d5), is being recognized as orphan and is rejected. On the other hand, trying to use an up-to-date data.mdb from my Linux Intel 64 bit build, results in the following error: Failed to open lmdb environment: Value too large for defined data type |

Yesterday was a really good day of mining for you. Congrats.
But, you really must provide more data points to be able to average it.
Also, since you said that some days the pool doesn't find a block, it seems that the more correct estimate would be 0 to 7.9 XMR per day.
That averages to 3.95 XMR per day, roughly what I would expect for 3.5khash/sec total hashing power.
Yeah good point. Most days we get a block at least one anyway. But about once every 10 days or so we will have a dry spell and no blocks. Didn't put all the math together as I'm sitting on lunch break and didn't have time to do a daily average calculation. I will say Monerohash.com has been solid and the operator which is osensei is on point. Code patches and updates mostly applied same day issues are reported by dev's and others. I am now syncing to the network on a Raspberry Pi 2, using Berkeley DB. LMDB does not work at this time for RPI but I understand it will be addressed in the future.
