Wallet not syncin? At block 386797 there is connection but it stopped counting down the blocks at this point. Do I need addnodes?

sounds like maybe your connection to the internet dropped. try restarting it.
maybe there is other problem, my wallet often does the same but stuck at random block and stay there for hours. I use 1Gbps connection with public static IP and have more than enough connections. The only version which was able to sync really fast was the first 4 version for me. Others are really really slow and it takes days to fully sync after 5-10 days of being offline. That is the reason why I finally gave it up with this wallet and transfered all my XVG to exchanges. XVG is the worst wallet I have ever used.

Is there any plan how to improve this? Electrum is not the solution, especially when I sometimes read about problems with tis kind of wallet. The only way how to safely hold is full chain wallet with wallet.dat for me.

our entire source code (which the wallet is build from) is being completely rewritten.

Well, its all over Social Media now that XVG's code is flawed, Sunerok doesnt have the capability to fix the code on his own so he needs to copy Shields code. Then blatantly lie about it in public.

iquidus has alot of bugs. prohashing and other yiimp based explorers are far more accurate.

Just out of curiousity in case your statement here is indeed the case (and i have some doubts about it), but just in case.

- So why is Verge using the most bugged explorer for its own currency?
- What's the prupose of having an official explorer nobody can rely on?
- What explorer do you use than while doing your own research/investigation if the official Verge Explorer can't be trusted due it's bugs?
- Was the possibility that the explorer shows the correct value actually investigated or you just think it's a bug?
- Any reference or example where this bug elsewhere happened and shows negative balance?

And there is still no answer to a whole lot of valid questions, maybe you won't to take a look into them as well.

P.S.: IF this guy here posting and offending people en mass here with lowest street language is really your moderator on the telegram channel
and representing Verges views/spirit/interest, than you should think about what bad taste such behavour leaves associated with Verge.
Just as a thought and side note.

Lolololol. Offending normal people ( which i dont ) or FUDDers ( which i will always) like you? I give FUDders extra treatment. Get used to my offensive behaviour until you keep spreading fake shit and asking vague question again and again to prove your shitty thing.

What has boxalex said that is fake or FUD? Nothing that I see.

all of those questions have easy answers that anyone can check for themselves. the fact that someone that doesn't even like verge wants to have them handed to him says it all.

Why XVG used XSH code for their fix patch and didnt mentioned copyrights?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3256693.msg38893408#msg38893408

Furthermore XVG dev claimed its his code and he wrote it by himself lol.

shieldcoin actually cloned our entire source code, before we added tor and stealth ;]

This message was deleted by Verge moderatos so im repeating it.

And XSH not hiding that fact and it was known from the start and all the copyrights have been sustained.

I dont see any comments regarding XSH code that were used for XVG project. In fact XVG dev saying he didnt used any second party code and it was written by him.

Thats the difference here. I wonder what could be the reason here why Verge dev cant admit the fact he was using others people work for project updates. Also im wondering how many times Verge dev was using not his code and didnt gave credits to real authors? Is this how Verge handle things all the time?

https://github.com/vergecurrency/VERGE/commit/ce9211e0686a4b45245a33a14ec9084a8705e793

https://git.shieldx.sh/SHIELD-team/Core-Projects/SHIELD/commit/266a270e5bef8cf932422ee101aafcff66cb1277

you realize they have used all of our commits right?

we changed the drift time a month before they did, but it was accidentally reverted in the first patch we posted. read the code and learn for yourself. you should learn how the code and github work before regurgitating information you read elsewhere, or it will make you look foolish
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Network Attack on XVG / VERGE on: May 30, 2018, 02:33:14 PM
Would any verge supporter like to explain this? Negative balance: https://verge-blockchain.info/address/D7sbycsrSQpj6AjfjsHPb54fvEzN6JH3fp

this thread gets too much watered with intention by the XVG fanboyz. Putting all important unanswered questions at the end of the topic until it's answered .....

what are you? 10yr old?Did you even know how to read. It seems so much hard for yaall to comprehend simple info.
NEGATIVE BALANCE IS AN EXPLORER BUG !!
go to prohashing explorer instead of official vergeexplorer.

How does this explorer bug work when it's supposed to just directly read off the blockchain? So the blockchain is bugged, not the explorer. The other explorer probably deals with negative values as 0.
the question then is y prohash explorer is more accurate than OFFICIAL xvg explorer.
has any got answer does prohash treat negative balance as zero?

iquidus has alot of bugs. prohashing and other yiimp based explorers are far more accurate.

>>now that we fixed the drift again,

Fixed the drift again? When was the first time? Because the 1st patch had nothing to do with drift time IIRC

you do realize instead of posting that, you could have just checked. this commit should have stayed, it would have prevented the last attack, which was 1 week ago today.

https://github.com/vergecurrency/VERGE/commit/b6c380727ebe285538b9e5ac330176d9e8983f87

450 seconds would have worked in preventing timestamp spoofed blocks.

89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Network Attack on XVG / VERGE on: May 29, 2018, 09:01:28 PM

Those unusual jumps are actually one part of the attack, the other part is tx spam which slows down most of tthe daemons and the third part is replacing parts of the blockchain with own blocks and thus causing orphans on most pools.

It's okay currently.

Does the transaction spam explain the sort of "phantom transactions" seen that appear on some copies of the chain (and confirmed as valid!), but are discarded as bad on other copies of the chain?

some block explorers databases dont account for orphans. the most reliable are the yiimp based ones, like http://poolovich.pro/explorer/XVG or https://umine.org/explorer/XVG

we've also made a site for tracking the blockchain status and difficulties here: https://vergecurrency.network
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Network Attack on XVG / VERGE on: May 29, 2018, 08:59:17 PM
Since the chain trust is only based on the length of the chain and not cumulated work, wouldn't it be quite easy to perform a double spend with much less than 51% hashrate?

On the original chain, send e.g. 10M XVG to an exchange.

While you wait for confirmations, start mining an alternative chain where you step down the difficulty by fakeing the timestamps. This should still be possible even though the maximum drift is changed to 10 minutes, it will just be somewhat slower. In this chain you include a transaction which invalidates your original transaction. Even if you only have e.g. 5% hashpower, your chain should eventually get longer than the original chain as it has much lower difficulty.

After you have converted the XVG to BTC on the exchange, you submit your privately mined chain to the network, and as it is longer than the original chain, it will cause the nodes to reorganize to your chain. Am I missing anything or would this be completly possible?
This would also make it possible to perform the attack with extremly limited ressources as you don't really have to compete with the honest miners.

that wouldn't work because the invalidation would also be accepted.

I never said that Denarius came up with stealth addresses, I am just showing that your code is a copy/paste from their Github. We all know Wraith is promoted as something it is not. Care to explain the other commits?

verge is a fork of peercoin, obviously. (was, after the new rebase to bitcoin we've been working on)

and the stealth.cpp file came from shadowcoin, not denarius. denarius removed the SDC copyright from their header in that file. ours retains the shadowcoin copyright.

You're avoiding what I addressed. During the first hack you claimed that you were working on a patch and yet you just copied it from a different coin (which didn't work). The second patch is a copy from the Shield Github and you're slandering them by saying that they copied it.

our first patch did work: https://github.com/vergecurrency/VERGE/commit/80c81aef63272231fc39c2af4b8db9f3f2e9d328

the attack then changed. since they were using blocks from ~2 hours previous (on a different chain) now that we fixed the drift again, which we meant to do previously, obviously, it seems to be preventing the attack from occurring, as we havent seen any successful attacks of the last 24 hours. we've been working on a whole new rebase for a few weeks now, and im confident it will be far more hardened against any mining exploitation.

You're still avoiding the fact that you simply copied it from a different project without admitting it. The comment section says enough: https://github.com/vergecurrency/VERGE/commit/a3dd53f40aaedd28bd4d0fc720f034492f7ded81

Instead of admitting that you're copy/pasting code you are giving Verge supporters the impression that you actually know what you're doing and acting cocky:

Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to see you fail. All I am saying is that it is extremely disrespectful to accuse other projects of copying your code and/or not giving other projects credit when you're using their fixes. Looking forward to seeing the new XVG codebase!

that patch did take 3 days and did not come from another coin. it was from over a month ago.

You are ignorant, stubborn and will probably never be reasonable, no matter how wrong you are. I'm done wasting my time trying to help you guys. Just remember that we warned you, so don't come crying later on.

It doesn't make sense to argue with them, just leave them and they will go back to their original sunshine XVG reddit channel, lol.

I even understand them to be honest, i mean how would you feel?

- 75M Crowdfund gone for .... nothing, no exclusivity, no gain, no nothing, just gone
- 1 attack, 2 attack, mostly 3rd attack, (placeholder for further attacks)
- copy/pasted code from a direct competitor, lol, that one makes me even laugh  Cheesy
- you believe it will rocket to moon (1USD -100USD) and a sudden you are back on earth at the roots ....
- the XVG hardliners didn't sell their bags on pornhub pike (believing in previous point) like every smart trader and .... regret it now.

Come on. It's understandable that it can be only FUD that causes this all. Impossible Saint Verge did something wrong......
Let's have some understanding for that.....

1. we do have exclusivity. no other coin is being integrated as payment into mindgeek.

2. there is no third attack, as far as we can tell.

3. we dont need to copy paste code from a competitor. if you are referring to shield coin, they copied our entire codebase to create their coin, they just forgot to add the privacy features.

Maybe Shield forked from Verge but that does not give you the right to copy their code and claim that they copied you. These commit are identical:

Shield commit from a month ago: https://git.shieldx.sh/SHIELD-team/Core-Projects/SHIELD/commit/c9da6eb64f670a6e0336ceb10332b2bd94498eba
Verge commit from a few days ago: https://github.com/vergecurrency/VERGE/commit/f8ca082646f9d98f5856e341097807ba06268464

Same thing with your commit during the previous attack: https://github.com/vergecurrency/VERGE/commit/a3dd53f40aaedd28bd4d0fc720f034492f7ded81
It is an exact copy of a Peercoin commit from 2015: https://talk.peercoin.net/t/timedrift-exploit-on-pos-coins-to-increase-minting-probability/3338/17

Same thing with Wraith, copied from Denarius.
Denarius commit (June 2017): https://github.com/carsenk/denarius/blob/a1ae9639e640e6ee0ffca7b8f7a2c73446849132/src/stealth.cpp
Wraith commit (December 2017): https://github.com/vergecurrency/VERGE/blob/master/src/stealth.cpp

There is nothing wrong with forking code from other coins but give them credit for it and don't claim that they stole it from you.

jesus, for all  your bitcointalk activity, you'd think you would understand what you are posting.

https://github.com/vergecurrency/VERGE/blob/master/src/stealth.cpp#L1

stealth was created by sdc. denarius actually removed their copyright, which is pretty fucked up. we left the shadowcoin copyright in it.

To me this is some nonsense spreading clickbaiters that are happy to see a crypto failing.

Does someone has a factual/scientific explanation to this picture ?

difficulty goes up and down. could have been an attempted attack, but it was not successful. so far, no malicious blocks have occurred in the last 24 hours.

we are rebasing our entire code however.

Correct about the hashes due to a copy pasta link issue, but the hashes are correct in the data.

and? continue explaining what i am seeing here, that is an attack.. because i must be missing it...

but no blocks got inserted, and we are still producing less blocks than allowed. (right now 103/120 per hour)
