2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Terminology on: May 25, 2015, 10:29:38 PM
Thanks everyone for the feedback.

I'm not sure if sure if either 'Shill' or 'MC' [MasterCard] are bitcoin specific enough to warrant inclusion in the list, but am open minded to the suggestion if others disagree.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [announce] Namecoin - a distributed naming system based on Bitcoin on: May 19, 2015, 10:29:10 PM
I'd be interested in working on some of these.
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: One thing I don't understand about pump and dump ... on: April 08, 2015, 04:36:06 PM
The idea is to cause other speculators to panic buy on the pump and panic sell on the dump.

...
The inside job only points at ONE person IMHO. Mark Karpeles.

It seems strange that Mark should come out, before the news story, and suggest that their on the trail of the thief and people may get their bitcoins back, if he's the thief and about to be caught and knows there are no coins to be found. Surely he's not that much of a sociopath?

7  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin vs Belief Systems on: December 14, 2014, 06:57:00 PM
Bitcoin is not a belief system. It's a peer-to-peer electronic cash system.
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do You now something about bitcoin price? on: August 15, 2014, 04:18:49 AM

Looks like the mark that would be made if his chest had been against the hot ring on the hob of the cooker.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone remember when Bitcoin was hard forked? on: July 28, 2014, 03:48:59 PM
I still dont really understand what a fork is  Cheesy

'Hard Fork'
When there are a sufficient number of bitcoin clients on the network that disagree on the rules about how blocks are created and recorded in the blockchain. It leads to a split in the chain, one set of bitcoin clients follow one branch and another set follows the other. To fix hard forks some action must be taken by us.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone remember when Bitcoin was hard forked? on: July 18, 2014, 02:44:34 AM
Bitcoin has hard forked twice. I was not around for the first one, but I panicked during the second.

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Putting a Person on a Block Chain on: July 06, 2014, 05:07:25 PM
One must follow their own intuition and path
to the truth

Just because we believe something that doesn't make it true.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Putting a Person on a Block Chain on: July 06, 2014, 04:42:29 PM
Science and spirituality are two different realms.  You cannot prove love, God, or spirit.
If your intuition doesn't tell you that science is not necessarily the ultimate truth,
then there is little I can do to convince you otherwise, and that is ok.

My intuition tells me that science is the only path to the truth. So where does that get us? Nowhere. Again this demonstrates the importance of evidence.

although for entertainment purposes, I suggest you check out the movie
"what the bleep do we know?"

Yes, I've seen it. A lot of good science interspersed with pseudo-science inorder to mezmorize the gullible.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Putting a Person on a Block Chain on: July 06, 2014, 04:20:18 PM
I say souls do exist and that reality manifests itself on multiple
planes of existence simultaneously.  For example,
love is real, but also may be expressed in the physical
domain by neurons firing in the brain.

Evidence is everything, without evidence all you have is opinion. There will always be someone with an opposite opinion to yours. The sum of all opinions is zero, rendering them utterly worthless.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Putting a Person on a Block Chain on: July 06, 2014, 01:50:01 PM
But I would disagree, as I believe consciousness is primary and
does not originate from the physical domain.

Our 'minds', 'souls', 'spirit' and consciousness are all physical in nature. Thousands of years of research have shown that our brains comprise and produce our true selves. Souls and spirits do not exist. Our bodies run themselves. We know from cases of brain damage and the effects of psychoactive drugs, that our experiences are caused by physical chemistry acting on our physical neurones in our brains.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Putting a Person on a Block Chain on: July 05, 2014, 06:56:48 PM
There will never be "spiritual machines" or true
consciousness/awareness in a computer.

How will physical reality be able to distinguish between machines created by evolution and machines created by man in a lab?
