Looks like a scam if i ever saw one.

I can only agree.. I checked google streetview at the address they give, doesn't seem like there is any IntraTech there.

Heh, weird. The board and the coolers seem like BFL.
243  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3800 GH] BTC Guild - PPS, PPLNS with TxFees+Orphans, Stratum+Vardiff ASIC Ready on: December 08, 2012, 12:00:34 PM
I'm talking short period, ofc on infinite things converges to same point, but on short term, shouldn't pplns get more reward becouse +10% of miners left (not taking in account pool luck which I understand it is crap and not doing any attempt to calculate myself..)?
244  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3800 GH] BTC Guild - PPS, PPLNS with TxFees+Orphans, Stratum+Vardiff ASIC Ready on: December 08, 2012, 11:19:24 AM
Are we having a really bad string of luck the last couple of days?  I was averaging over 3.54 BTC/day before the split, figure I should be making at least 1.7/day now even with the 5% PPS figured in.  I switched over to PPLNS and calculated I should be making roughly .07 BTC per shift x 24 to make 1.7 BTC/day, but I barely see a couple shifts where this has happened.  In the past I have been very unlucky (I was on BTCG for 2 months of the bad luck spell and the second I switch to try other guilds lady luck rewarded BTCG).

I also show me as being the #5 user/share contributor on PPLNS with a hash rate of 12.5GH/s roughly - that can't be right can it?   Everybody else is on PPS?

Good point, shouldn't pplns get better income than pps because of GPU users who left? I'm trying to decide if to switch to pplns.. Smiley

Not wanting to spread FUD or start a war with Inaba, but "clock buffers" + "fab" = February. If they get chips in December they most likely wont contain those extra clock buffers.

Hurray for a lull in trolling.

I was mulling through the post by BitSyncom from Avalon posted regarding their process, and essentially the purchase order they submitted. I noticed that they're using CMOS logic-- makes sense, but I was curious if there was any thought put into using ECL instead or is that just too complicated of a design or impractical?

Not really familiar with ECL, but I think you would need a small nuclear reactor to power a decent mining farm.

Yeah, it seems its 50mm^2 packed:
Quote
Package Type: QFN48 -0.5 Pitch
Packaged Chip Size: 7 mm x 7 mm
So chip price will be something like 1usd and some pennies.
250  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASIC where are they? on: December 03, 2012, 09:17:18 PM
Filtering through the Inaba speak this is probably how it's gonna go:
 - Finally understanding how Asian fabs work, BFL raises their order from 20000 chips to 100000 to bump up their place in the production queue.
 - Fab decides they finally have time for that weirdo BFL company to do their miniscule run on the 11th. This is under provision no big orders from LG come in in the mean time because boy that Nexus 4 is selling like hotcakes. If that happens BFLs run is gonna be pushed back to "whenever".
 - Assuming the 11th happens and the run actually starts, you can add about 4-5 weeks for production of these things.
 - On 21st of December the world ends
 - In the middle of January the chips are finished. Inaba decides to hop in a plane and fly over to the fab to hand receive the chips. Turns out, all planes crashed during the end of the world. Instead the chips are shipped over to 'merica by boat.
 - Middle of March the chips finally arrive in what is now called the Independent State of California. Customs officials hold what they assume to be weapons grade military devices until the end of the war with Texas finally ends in a stalemate.
- 2015: ASICs arrive at BFL studios (a subsidiary of bAvalon International). No one knows what to do with them because all bitcoins were wiped out by the EMP pulse from Planet Rth'Nag'Ar.
- 2016: bAvalon strings the chips up on metal bars to produce a first-of-its-kind mathematics device they call The Abacus.

 Cheesy
251  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASIC Certification Requirements? on: December 03, 2012, 11:43:50 AM
Clock buffers will rather increase than decrease electromagnetic emissions. What BFL engineer said was that by adding those buffers they will increase chip stability vs noise not that they will produce less EM noise (at least so I remember).
252  Other / Off-topic / Re: Just what is a clock buffer anyway? on: December 02, 2012, 02:21:10 AM
Hence, this is why the framing of the information....seems a bit off.

Be careful.  If you point out inconsistencies and ambiguities in BFL's announcements Josh will start rageflaming you.  Spoken from experience.
hahaha I love your new Avatar  Smiley

Little I know about designing chips but wouldn't a real, and most effective Bitcoin chip be better done without a clock or clockless? Units waiting for Data could so automatically be suspended and resume work just in time when they are needed.
Imagine your city without traffic lights. That will be your clockless chip. Not counting that you will need to feed nonces from outside.
253  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Who is quitting mining due to block halving? on: December 01, 2012, 04:50:03 PM
I don't understand the economic side of LTC right now.  How would switching to ltc be profitable at the moment with such a low price compared to one btc?   Is it based on the speculation that one day LTC will also be worth about the same as BTC?

Anything gets traded as long as it gets attention.
254  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: bad news for bASIC - not shipping til mid Jan at best on: December 01, 2012, 03:24:44 AM
I still don't know wtf a meme is.  Huh

A self replicating idea, a small demon jumping from one brain to another.
255  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [4100 GH] BTC Guild - Pure PPS Mining Pool - Stratum+Variable Diff ASIC Ready on: November 30, 2012, 10:30:26 PM
thanks for the clarification. appears my answer was wrong.

It was a good answer, except those shifts were still receiving payment, so it was far too early to say they had bad luck.  However, you were right in that it's possible for a shift to receive no payments.  It's just the odds of it happening are *extremely* low, due to the values I've picked for the implementation of PPLNS.

I do remember why I shifted to PPS for good. It was a weekend when BTC kept gaining and gaining and gaining, and I was doing DGM, I did a block for like more than half a day.. When it turned lucky, BTC was already inflating.
PS: I dont want to be in any big pool doing PPS owner shoes..  Grin

Another LM4F120 died several days ago without a reason.. Chips are not even available in EU, cant even repair the boards.

Without a reason or because you overvolted it (again) ? ;-)

They are made from marmalade..  Grin

I'm making 900 gh with 600 watt at the wall ... sadly is europe ..that means BTC = 9.5 euros and power 0.12 ...(more or less heating the room for free)... I hope BTC price goes up soon ...
Nice that you got ASICs already..

I hereby acknowledge that you are funny.  Smiley

What's funny is this clock buffer business.  The clock tree is the most fragile and delicate part of a synchronous chip, and the hardest to troubleshoot.

I know very well, I do this for a living.
