Nope, I can't access it either, DNS lookup wont resolve.
122  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New BFL update. 25 February 2013. on: February 28, 2013, 11:53:43 AM
Colour me confused. I am not sure either of the pictures are actually from BFL ASICs. I think the CAD printouts that BFL posted earlier showed their die a little bit but noticeably rectangular. Not as square as the dies on the wafer picture but neither as heavily rectangular as the wirebond picture does. Also the CAD die pictures I think showed the pads for connections to be alongside the edges of the die as I think is the common way of doing things. The wirebond picture shows the bonding pads on the "die" to seem quite strange. I am not sure the wirebonding picture contains any die at all. Maybe it is just some practicing bed for the wiring or something else. If I make a google image search for ASIC wirebonding I get a ton of pictures and none of those I have any doubt at all that they contain a die like the BFL picture I find myself doubting. weird.

I think that was first design for QFN which they said it failed because of thermal issues. I think Josh said they managed to make the impossible and somehow convert old design to a flip chip (check wikipedia).
123  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New BFL update. 25 February 2013. on: February 28, 2013, 08:47:28 AM
While not diced, the picture of the full wafer does show the separation of the individual dice.. They look awfully 'square' to me.. This single die looks rectangular.  Optical dillusion, perhaps?

Enigma

Strange indeed. I count about 35 by 35.
Maybe that“s why the image appeared split in the post?
No EXIF data again.

If you look carefully you'll notice that image is composed from several pictures. That's because they were shot under microscope (maybe bonding machine optics).

So I really dont see what the big advantage is of destroying 5000+ chips to be able to test, what exactly ?

If they can perform a SHA256 transform?
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Litecoin really really cheap right now? Or is it dying? on: February 26, 2013, 10:46:03 AM

Let's rephrase your question: "If Bitcoin provides all the functionality that people need right now, how can another currency provide usefulness?"

There is one function which Bitcoin will provide less after ASICs mass deployed - decentralization - which LTC is still able to provide.

Checked too, horizontal tabs are definitely better than old left hand hrefs..
127  Economy / Speculation / Re: $30 on: February 22, 2013, 12:03:08 AM
I sold on Bitstamp this evening at $30 bucks.. D
Game Over..
BTC may fall down, but the feeling is there, I know it may be sold for USD 30..

I'm using some Android phone, 400 x 800 pixels, to check pool status. Pls, if possible, take in account mobile browsers.. As it is, is great for mobile.
129  Economy / Speculation / Re: But I Feel Good... But I feel high ... :) on: February 21, 2013, 08:46:47 PM
You can buy a used game with that kind of cash

Da hell, there are people in this world their one month salary is worth this..

As for the time out problem, is this a frequent problem?  I've not had any issues with my miners, and have not seen any pool wide problems.

Not sure if anybody noticed, but OVH (quite a big european provider) has network issues today, which affected half of the european internet, because OVH's internal traffic is re-routed over other companies.

Lol, I was about to say I noticed something like this yesterday, but then I saw you posted on 20..

The botnet detection would cause you to see constant disconnects whenever you authorized a banned worker.  It is quite obvious if it's affecting you.  I'd try reconnecting and seeing if you're still noticing any kind of drop.  The only reason I can see for a drop is if your miner didn't reconnect promptly (since hash rates displayed are an hour long average, it takes a while for the ESTIMATED HASH RATE to become accurate again).

Not sure about that side of interface, I was using slush proxy since it is handy, but I think it was behaving somehow like that, multiple disconnections/re-connections. Again, maybe it is a coincidence, but I thought is worth to ask.. I have proxy logs saved for just in case.

There was a brief restart to some of the Stratum servers.  Each server had about 2-3 seconds of downtime to deploy a patch that aims at helping detect and remove botnet miners from the Stratum interface.  I've recently discovered two accounts that appear to have been spreading a cgminer/bfgminer bot using the Stratum servers.

I don't know if it was coincidence or not, but soon after that I lost again percent of hashing speed and had to move on 50btc and getwork.
You sure you botnet detector is behaving? I'm also fan of paranoid security, btw..
134  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Lets put bitcoin in space. A mining satellite for $8000 on: February 13, 2013, 01:07:43 PM

Speaking of the latter,  since the sat wont have attitude control, how do you keep the radiator pointed away from the sun? Or for that matter, the solar panel pointed to the sun?

I came across this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field-emission_electric_propulsion

Is that at all feasible yet for a "farmshed built" satellite ? (Im guessing not, but hey, wikipedia article claims small and cheap, so who knows Smiley ).
I saw last week discussions around this:
http://www.emdrive.com/
http://www.emdrive.com/yang-juan-paper-2012.pdf

Pretty unbelievable, but will change everything if indeed it works.
135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and the After Life on: February 12, 2013, 10:47:31 PM
For people that believe in an after life maybe you could think of carrying your bitcoins to another life if you could remember the codes.
Maybe encoding the private keys with mantras... Cool

Or maybe do nothing, we are anyway information and keys are enconded into us.. Smiley
136  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Lets put bitcoin in space. A mining satellite for $8000 on: February 12, 2013, 10:05:33 PM
Anything you put in space need to be cooled.
There is no air flow in vacuum, so the only way to cool stuff is by radiation emission. Also, inside the satellite, I assume there is less or no convection since there is no gravitation, so hot air will stick near hot elements, so, unless you design some sort of internal cooling, you will easy experience points with temperature high over 100C. Also, when anything is exposed to Sun, in space, it will heat pretty fast (200 -300C I think, near Earth).
137  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Lets put bitcoin in space. A mining satellite for $8000 on: February 12, 2013, 09:32:05 PM
Msp430 with ferroelectric RAM, an array of it. That radiation resistat, but needs to be cooled under 430C.
Ofc, wont do much MHs, but it can hash, I offer the code if it is needed.

Just warning:  User 67117 is NOT 3 TH/s right now.  I'm helping the user with some internal setup and reset their cached speed calculations, which caused a huge spike in hash rate to show up.  Do not panic Smiley.

For a second I thought someone from BFL is mining at your pool.

You're not too far off.

Could you confirm if it is Asic, Fpga (or gpu) Huh

Its still showing ~800GH/s

It could be Inaba.

@9:47PM   67117 had   4,132,730 shares
@10:34PM   67117 had   4,637,050 shares
47 min, 2820s and 504320 shares -> 178.83 shares/s (diff1) -> 768GH/s
No idea who they are..
