I'll bite - what kind of liquor do they have down there that would be considered illegal here?

Bump for BTC rally pricing.
325  Economy / Speculation / Re: I just don't get it. on: March 04, 2013, 10:54:25 PM
1) Either Bitcoin goes to $0 in a few years or to very high levels like $10,000/$100,000+.

Orrrrrr, it could be somewhere in between.  I'll wager that BTC will not be $0 and it will not be $10k/$100k within your estimates.  To make a statement like that is foolish.

To the OP, sorry you took everything off the table.  In my experience, unless you have the foresight like ZB that your investment may be 0, sell off a little and take some profits.  I started this experiment when BTC=4$, sold a little, bought a little, and never looked back.   Best you could hope for now is maybe a correction like 10-20% and get back in the game.
326  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Easy Way to get Free Electricity for mining on: March 04, 2013, 06:44:20 PM
Yes there is the upfront cost of the hybrid or electric car.

Also if you're rural, you could load a flatbed with a bunch of deepcycle marine or heavy equipment batteries install a few small windmills and gen packs then you'll be charging on your way into town to get groceries.

Both ides are fool proof.  Plus you could charge your battery loaded flatbed at a charging station.  Call it an experimental vehicle.

Of you disagree you have a better idear?

So you get free electricity by spending $20k on an electric car, or probably 3x that amount spent on a flatbed of batteries? (that will need replacing in less than three years).  This is one of most bone-headed ideas I've heard in a long time.  Wait, i take that back.  Buying a 20k car just to have a battery on wheels that, in your scheme, would require a tow every day once it got a full "free" charge.

Oy vey.

Is this thing still for sale for a reasonable price?

That'll get some attention at the bumping facility!   Wink
328  Other / Archival / Re: [BRAND NEW!] ++++++++++ Bitcoin Megastore ++++++++++ [BRAND NEW!] on: March 03, 2013, 03:25:27 AM
Shoulda called it the "B with two lines through it" megastore.  Not to sound harsh, but... it's just stuff with a BTC on it.  Could you put "Bitcoin" or "Bought with Bitcoin" on them?

And everything's in $ only?  I guess you can't put "Bought with Bitcoin" on them...

Friedcat, see what you're forcing people to do? Why?

I'd rather see the ASICMINER people work on hashing equipment than trading platforms.

I didnt read "Test Payment" at first and thought "THAT'S IT?!?!".  Good method of confirming shares - and causing a short panic attack.  Thanks, Friedcat.

Up for sale!  Fully-custom, self-inking stamps.  These stamps feature a logo with the quote "Bitcoin Is Better" in bright red ink.  They work great on all kinds of paper.  The ink is refillable.

Here is an example, shown for size comparison purposes.

334  Economy / Marketplace / Re: House for sale - lake anna, mineral VA on: February 20, 2013, 01:56:57 AM
Hopefully for your dads sake 10kBTC won't go back down to the value of a pizza, once the house is sold.  That would require a trip out to the woodshed..
335  Economy / Speculation / Re: Silver oz price dipping to $29.70 and Bitcoin hitting $27.50, gap closing fast on: February 19, 2013, 08:56:25 PM
Good time to diversify a little bit and buy some metal.

friedcat is really working hard; the power continues to grow.  It's up to a high of 2112 GH/s now.

Oh, they need to hang out at 2112 Gh/s for a little while...

We've taken care of everything
The words you read, the songs you sing
The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes
It's one for all and all for one
We work together, common sons
Never need to wonder how or why

We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls

Look around at this world we've made
Equality our stock in trade
Come and join the Brotherhood of Man
Oh, what a nice, contented world
Let the banners be unfurled
Hold the Red Star proudly high in hand

We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls

Call me crazy... but if I ran a mining/hardware company with shareholders I would let them know when the 1st ASIC came online, and then again when surpassing the 1 TH/s mark.... tell the shareholders where they can see speed and earnings.....and not wait till the next weekly update.....  Huh

I'm pretty sure Friedcat would do the same...

I don't think it's ASICminer....

edit: it looks more like 16 Avalons coming online

I'll call ya crazy.   Wink
If I had a car company that promised 300 miles per gallon?  Before the public announcement, I'd have people make sure the thing doesn't catch fire while driving it.  Don't make any kind of announcements until it's solid.  I can wait.
340  Economy / Auctions / Re: 696 ASICMINER shares for auction on: February 10, 2013, 12:56:17 AM
$6,500 for 21 GH/s

un be leivable.

It's insanity.  Once Avalon batch 1 capacity is added the ROI on the .1, which is paid first 1/200000, is about 16 days.

After that, and once BFL has clobbered the network, and the dividend is back to 1/400000, the ROI on the remaining .2 is 277 days.

Bidding .5?  Ooooookkkk.....

....if BFL has clobbered the network....
