Dogie, take the blade out of the box.  The chips on the opposite side of the board need air circulation.  I would try to set the blade on its edge, heat-sink on the bottom.  Get two 120mm case fans and park them in front of the heat-sink with air going away from the sink.  I added a third fan today and have it pointed across the power supply module, it was getting a little too hot for comfort.  The third fan blows air across the length of the module, not directly on it.

The blades aren't meant to be resting on anything that would stifle air flow across it.

For the owners with overheating problems. Don't concentrate your fans directly on the heatsink of each blade. Try to create an "air channel" placing fans in push and pull configuration. in my experience it's a lot better.

It's easy to mount the blades vertically using the method shown by lightbox.

I'm cooling 4 blades with 1x180mm fan and 2x120mm, without heat problems. It's important to have the hot air removed from the room as well.

Yes.  Don't blow air onto the heat sink, draw air through the fins and out through the fan.  The fan should be positioned directly next to the sink and you should feel slightly warm air on your hand.

Wow that failed, sorry. Also one of the fans provided is leaking fluid and now growling away. What is this tiny 2 pin connector called, might get some more.

You can cut the connector off the cheapo fan and splice the red and black wires to a case fan.  Works much better and two cover the whole heat sink.

I have 2x120mm on the fat at the back and its still very hot to the touch. I kind of feel like its way more than 80W of heat should be. I'll take the power meter from my comp to this when I next turn of.

The 2x120mm one is actually way hotter than my 1x120mm one.

I'm using these

http://www.avadirect.com/product_print.asp?PRID=17206

No extra heat on the wires.  .38 amp on the thermaltake versus  .12 amp on the cheapos.  It shouldn't be running hot.

+1 to all the Blade Runners that re-used their packaging foam as mounting.  Well played, sirs, well played.  Those fans they shipped don't cut it.  I'm using two case fans side-by-side across the heatsink and we're all good.  Tried Bitminter and failed horribly (12% efficient).  Used Slush with a separate stratum proxy and I'm at 96%.
208  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Wafer Broke? on: May 01, 2013, 08:01:48 PM
Agreed to a certain extent. But still, common sense if nothing else tells you to treat people who have given you, or may give you money, with some respect.

Respect is earned and not bought, if someone behaves like an idiot I expect them to be treated like an idiot independent of the size of their wallet.

This is pretty much the long and short of it.  If you actually go back in my post history and look at the people who approach me in a rational, honest way, they get the same in response.  Approach with an irrational, trollish way, spouting lies and BS... well, you get what you deserve.  Take k9quaint and PL as prime examples.  Every post they make for the most part contains at least one lie or falsehood, doctored up to support their flawed positions and irrational hatered of BFL, so they get the same in return.  In contrast, take any post that has a mature tone and rational content, and you'll see my responses are equally rational and helpful.  The problem is, Bitcointalk has very little of the latter and is comprised almost entirely of the former.

Is it true that the wafer is broken and that we (customers) are back to square one?
209  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICMINER Auction: 50 Block Erupter Blades AUCTION OVER!!! on: April 30, 2013, 04:53:51 PM
why not run next auction in little bit more professional way. let say use some auction script, when everybody will see bids in real time as well as counts. In present situation people staring posting their bids in last minutes because nobody can scroll trough 5 pages in one minute and get a picture of what is going on.

I'm lost and sad about it, same as many others. I really hope something can be done for next rounds.
I absolutely agree. I lost since the list was not updated regularly. I had no idea how much to offer.

Just offer whatever price you want next time, then back out because you didn't get the payment address within five minutes.

I made it very clear I wanted to pay immediately, and was not provided that option.

I see that now, but the point is that information needs to be provided immediately.

Why?  I don't get that, which seems now to be the crux of your argument.  What difference does it make if the payment address is provided within 8 minutes or 8 hours?  In fact, the opposite makes more sense.  If you backed out because the auctioneer wanted payment immediately and didn't have BTC to cover, it would make sense.

I'm still sticking with my original accusation: you wanted to turn a quick buck.  When things went south on your auction, you rescinded.  Easy as that.  You had no intention to actually purchase and use the equipment.  In fact, you offered to sell the "shipping" for 179BTC (77BTC profit) exactly one hour and twenty minutes after the AM auction ended.

Quote
I'll await a pm and will pay them tonight, however I'll sell the shipping for 179BTC if anyone wants them.  All the same to me.

Your auction starts two hours, twenty-seven minutes after the AM auction ends.  When it was clear that you weren't going to get "paid" for the two blades, you write :

Quote
You just may get your wish Caesium.

Referring to Caesium getting your two units by backing out - less than seven hours after the AM auction ended.

So your argument that "couldn't pay immediately" doesn't hold water.  You started looking for an out one hour and twenty five minutes after the AM auction ended.

It's scum bag behavior.  You run a gambling website.  If I was outbid by your hijinks, I'd not only pursue the scammer tag, but also make sure everyone knows that WinVery.com is run by a scum bag and not to be trusted.
211  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICMINER Auction: 50 Block Erupter Blades CHECK OP FOR PAYMENT on: April 30, 2013, 03:18:35 PM
So let's open a scam accusation for winvery? Could a participant to this auction do it, as offended part?

I think we should wait until John comes online.

Unfortunately there was no rule stopping people from buying and immediately reselling, so if winvery pays in 24 hours then he shouldn't get a scammer tag.

winvery still has 4 hours left to pay his amount.

I don't have as much of a problem if he paid and immediately resold.  Dick move, but it's his right as a winning bidder.  He flat out refused to pay after winning two units.
212  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICMINER Auction: 50 Block Erupter Blades CHECK OP FOR PAYMENT on: April 30, 2013, 03:14:02 PM
if someone can't pay within 24 hours just have a look who is next beyond the cutoff and sell it them if they are still interested.

Here's the problem with that.   I see the lowest set of bids going for 50.  I bid for X number of units at say, 60.  This pushes some of the low bidders out, forcing them to either quit or place a new higher bid.  Now the auction is over, I win with my 60 but quit without paying.  Those X number of units are now awarded to the bidder that was at the bottom of the winners list at the low bid price.

All kinds of shenanigans when you play that game.

Really?  Where?  Certainly not on the wait list, no one there claiming to have a < 1600 order number.  Nowhere else on this forum, either.  GigaVPS even has a 16XX minirig upgrade order.  Seems like you're the only one with either a non-BitPay order or you didn't put enough effort to research your scam.
214  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICMINER Auction: 50 Block Erupter Blades AUCTION OVER!!! on: April 30, 2013, 01:50:19 PM
He should be blacklisted as a hardware day trader, he had NO intention of completing and was looking for another buyer to pawn them off immediately afterwards. I don't believe he had any funds, or access to funds to complete without an immediate sale and I was forced to cock block to prevent this atrocious behaviour.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=191149.0;all

I had the full intention but was not given the means to pay immediately.

WinVery should be blacklisted for this comment, and for bidding for something he had no funds to cover.  It's pretty obvious that he bid knowing that he could run up the price later.  The problem was he was an ass about it.  Boycott his gambling site too.  Screw him.

I bid with the intention to immediately pay.

I'll bite.  Signed wallet address showing an amount of 105BTC or greater please.

Here's what happened - you placed a bid with the only way you could pay is if someone bought immediately  from you.  When that fell through, you backed out.  I would hope anyone reading this would think twice about going to your gambling site.  I'm sure that's legit too.  Roll Eyes

If thats what he did, he needs to be scammer tagged immediately.

That's what he did. There's proof on the forum. We need to apply the rules or otherwise auctions will become a joke on these forums. We need the scammer tag for this guy, and for him to be blacklisted to future auctions. He will create another account, but at least is a start to avoid misuse of these subforums.

He can create another forum account, but WinVery.com as a gambling site would be sunk.  Scammer tag.

I agree.  If this is tolerated, what's to stop me as a shareholder from intentionally ramping up the bid price to get higher dividends?  Then I could just say "oops, my bad - I'm out".  I think he should be forced to pay and then he can sell them as he wishes.  The winning bid is a contract to pay - anything else is a scam.

Should anyone want to pick up 2 blades: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=191149.msg1979280 I plan to be the first winner paid.  Grin

Yeah.. go fuck yourself. I understand what you are doing is fair and legal but the sentiment stands.

They broke a cardinal rule of auctioneering; Not immediately allowing a buyer to pay.
Your sediment notwithstanding,  I'll manage to stay afoot.

I have 2 pre-orders with order number 12xx.

The reason I am selling them so high is because they should make ~$3,000-$4,000 the first week. More in First month of receiving them.

http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator

Why are my pre-orders so valuable?

1. I am in the first 1200 orders
2. 120Gh/s total
3. July 15th Pre-Order date

As many of you know, at this point, it is now how many GH/s you pre-ordered, but how early you pre-ordered. A mini-rig ordered 1 week ago might as well be 2 SC singles compared to a mini-rig pre-ordered in July.

Proof:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-A_NlkGvbM

Video was made in October. I state that I have 2 pre-orders for ASIC SC Singles.

Just testing out the waters here hehe.

How were you able to score order #12XX when BitPay started at #16XX?
