Hi berossm,

Might I recommend www.canadianbitcoins.com? I've used them for a number of transactions and had my coins within 3 - 4 hours. (The transactions were by Western Union, and they only pick up W.U. once a day - when I deposited an hour before this pickup time I had the coins within an hour and a half.)

I'm not in any way affiliated with them, I just think their service is excellent! Certainly better than the experiences I've had with get-bitcoin.com in any event.

Just saw your post now, apologies!

Just read through the other thread on Satoshi Nakamoto and clicked the link to the book "Electronic Payment Systems for E-commerce"; if the picture of the author on that page is correct (which from the page here: http://65.54.113.26/Author/1718958/donal-o-mahony, it is) I'm afraid that Donal O' Mahony the author and Donal O' Mahony of Davy are two completely different people, which puts paid to the idea that Donal O' Mahony of Davy is Satoshi.

Hi all,

I happened upon this thread purely by chance (I rarely visit bitcointalk.org much, mainly for Bitcoin exchange reviews the odd time) and was astonished to see Donal O' Mahony's name mentioned! I know Donal through his daughter, and personally I'd be quite surprised if he had anything to do with Bitcoin, although the fact remains that he is incredibly good with numbers, very intelligent, and I reckon he'd have the necessary skills to develop such a crypto-currency from an investment / understanding markets point of view.

I'll see if I can find out anything more and post back know in a couple of days if I come up with anything, or if he's wearing his Satoshi Nakamoto hat and staying silent.  Tongue

Kind regards,

Same here - I emailed them again 2 days ago (after 9 more days of waiting), and no reply as of yet. Selective scamming perhaps? Or maybe just decided to take the Bitcoin for the Christmas orders and run? Who knows.. Notch it up to experience I guess!  Angry

6  Economy / Speculation / Re: 94% correction? on: February 14, 2012, 07:43:26 AM
Interestingly enough, if you compare the magnitudes of each rally and assume that they will drop as much as the first rally as a magnitude of the percentage, you get a "perfect" estimate of a 33% drop from our high of $7.22, bringing us down to $4.81.

...God damn 33% percent retracement rule.
Damn I'm good. Let's see if this holds...

VERY good!  Shocked

Hey everyone. Two big new changes we're making, starting today:

 - As some of you might have noticed, our customer service is slower than it used to be. We are, simply put, victims of our own success, and have had too many customers every day to deal with things as timely as we'd like to. So, we're bringing on two new full-time customer service people to deal with the load. This means that, as soon as we've gotten things up and running this week, emails to customer support, invoices for ACH payments, and confirmation of cash deposits should take minutes rather than hours during the business day. You can contact our new support people at support@get-bitcoin.com.

 - We've re-added Western Union as a form of payment. As this thread testifies, we've had problems with this in the past, so we've taken measures to ensure that payments are processed as soon as possible and within our 24-hour guarantee. Please do let us know if you've had any issues with our Western Union or other services.

Both excellent developments - glad to hear that you'll be increasing your customer service capacity! Although I had a pretty terrible first experience with get-bitcoin.com, I'll support any business that strives to improve itself for the good of their customers. I look forward to making a small order sometime in the near future.

Hmm, perhaps all is not lost then! Will update here when either bitcoincigarettes' order or the cigs.eu order comes through!

I find it rather strange that I only received a reply to my email, sent on 30/01/2012, after I posted here on the forums about my issue.
I'm glad to see I'm not alone, but also unhappy that others are experiencing the same lackluster service.

For those of you interested in trying someone else, I've since ordered from www.cigs.eu and am being updated every step of the way - ordered yesterday and received the following today:

"Dear Customer,

Your order (placed on 08/02/2012) has been updated to the following status:
Awaiting Shipment

The comments for this update are:
Bitcoins received. Order will be dispatched on Friday, Feb 10.

To view your order in detail click on the link below:
http://www.cigs.eu/*************************

Please reply to this email if you have any questions.

Sincerely
Customer Support.
support@cigs.eu
http://www.cigs.eu"

They also accept credit cards along with bitcoin as methods of payment so I'd be more inclined to trust them - especially with the rather significant issues that bitcoincigarettes.com seem to be experiencing.

In light of other posts here, I'm not holding out hope that my order from bitcoincigarettes.com will arrive - I am personally of the opinion that I've been take for a ride by some unscrupulous individuals, but I'm more the fool for trusting them. I will wait another week as mentioned in the email to me before declaring this to be yet another (this time successful) attempt at scamming Bitcoin users out of their coin.

I placed an order with bitcoincigarettes.com on the 23/12/2011 and completed payment the same day, it's now 07/02/2012 and still nothing. I emailed them January 9th as I had still not received the "email notification will be sent to you, once the package is delivered to the mail carrier."

On January 10th I received the following email:

"Hello,

We sorry for the late response.

All these delays are a result of the two weeks winter holidays and the vacation that both our bank and the mail carrier we work with took. They had a very reduced working hours especially for international parcels.

However we managed to get your package to the mail carrier, but we were announced that international packages could be delayed during this time.

As a compensation to all of the delays created during these two weeks, we are offering a 10% off to the orders made until 31 January 2012.

We are again very sorry for all the inconvenience created.

Best regards,

Egor

BitcoinCigarettes.com"

I replied January 11th thanking Egor for his speedy response. Having still not received the item by January 30th I sent another email stating that the item in question had not yet arrived and attached my original order and confirmation of payment, asking what steps would be taken next. I am yet to receive a response to that email, and am posting here as a result of that.

If someone from bitcoincigarettes.com could get in touch with me as soon as possible I'd greatly appreciate it.

Regards,

Graham Greene

No problem! I have to say in the interest of fairness that I only tried to purchase through Western Union, which they advertised, but then had a problem with and pulled without advising me of how they were going to resolve the problem, leaving my money in limbo. Other customers seem to be happy enough with other methods of buying from them.

I bought my BTC instead from a user "yossarian" over at bitcoin-otc.com. If you're buying with Euro, he's incredibly helpful! I bought 710 BTC from him for just under €2,000 and he was excellent at communication, and I had my BTC within 3 days (how long it took for the SEPA transfer to come through.) If you agree a price to buy at, that's the amount of BTC you receive from him regardless of whether it rises or falls in price.

Would definitely recommend buying from him instead of get-bitcoin (who had my money sitting with Western Union for nearly a week before I'd had enough and withdrew the payment!)

Please see the following two threads for my incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience with get-bitcoin.com; in the event of a problem, don't expect any help from them.

Scratch what I said in my last post here. The issue escalated to a point where I just could not continue doing business with get-bitcoin.com.

After hearing nothing but "the boss is working on it" about my Western Union transfer I cancelled it today. 5 days after sending it. I lost out €82.00 in transfer fees, and my margins have been cut right down to the bone because of Bitcoin's increase in price.
Disgraceful service on the part of get-bitcoin.com, and I for one will certainly not use them again.
Atrocious communication, and it would seem they view their customers as a hindrance.

I highly recommend you all learn how to use bitcoin-otc and buy directly from the trusted sellers over there; whatever you do, do NOT use get-bitcoin.com. After reading many good things about them, my €1933.00 was left in limbo for 5 days. They did offer to completely eliminate their 5% fees for that particular trade, but the person sent to pick up the Western Union transfers has been fired, and get-bitcoin.com would not have been able to pick up the transfer without her, as the name on the transfer sheet has to match the identification produced by the receiver.

If it were possible to give them less than a 0/10 I'd do it.

Thanks for your input! I'm not sure I want to cancel myjust yet, I paid €82.00 to send payment so if I cancel it I'll lose out on that, plus anything they charge for cancelled orders.

I sent the payment to them last Wednesday, the day after you, and after a bunch of emails back and forth, finally received this one:

"Dear Customer:

Thanks for using GetBitcoin! We're terribly sorry about the delays in processing your Western Union payment. We know we screwed up, and the person we hired to process them has been fired. To compensate you, we will waive our fee on your Western Union order. If you would like to cancel your order, you can also contact Western Union to get your money back. We'll update you as soon as we have more information. "

That's really not good enough, but I do understand that sometimes people screw up and it's out of the company's hands. They would do well to hire another person immediately, or for Tom to process the payments himself for this (hopefully) once-off scenario and get the issue sorted out as soon as possible.

I'll give them another day, and if it's not resolved by then, I'll pull my payment.

Re: Anyone else having problems with get-bitcoin.com ??

Just an update on the situation:

All my emails have now been answered, and the cause of the delay has been explained. They just hired someone new to pick up the Western Union payments, and if there are any more delays, they say they'll hire someone else instead. They've also offered to halve their fee to 2.5%, which is very helpful, and will offset some of my losses.

Whilst my initial emails were answered by a very helpful "Alicorn", she couldn't sort everything out as my order was a large one, hence being dealt with by somebody else. However, she did help me out as much as she could, and today I received emails from orders@get-bitcoin.com detailing the reason for lack of processing and the reduction of their fee by way of apology.

All in all a rocky start in my dealings with get-bitcoin.com, but whilst I haven't yet received my Bitcoins (and in fairness, this issue HAS been resolved within 2 days), I'll certainly use them again for my large Bitcoin orders in the future.  Smiley

Can I please direct you to my thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=54715.msg651726#msg651726 and ask you to address my issues there-in, and inform me as to why my payment STILL has not been picked up after I sent it to New York at 8.30 EST Wednesday morning???

Yeah I'd heard pretty much all good reviews about them, that's why I've trusted them with such a large amount, and now they're not even picking it up..  Undecided

Have you received any news about your BTC at all??

(Thanks for the suggestion by the way, dunno why I didn't think of doing that!)
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Anyone else having problems with get-bitcoin.com ?? on: December 15, 2011, 09:53:49 PM
Hi all,

I'm just wondering in anybody else has experienced delays with orders / emails with get-bitcoin.com since yesterday?

As things currently stand with me, I transferred quite a substantial amount, with their 5% fee added, to get-bitcoin.com by Western Union transfer yesterday at 08:30 EST. At 08:45, I sent them on the relevant details that they needed in order to actually collect the money. It was sent by instant transfer, so the money would have been available to collect within minutes. They're likely busy people, I understand that, but the delays and the lack of keeping me in the loop would be almost comical if there wasn't so much money caught up in it. At 23:05 EST last night, after a couple of emails wondering what was happening with my order, I received an email saying that they had "received your order information, and are confirming your payment now." 'Excellent', or so I thought.

I heard nothing at all after that, despite numerous emails enquiring as to the status of my order (sent to any and every get-bitcoin email address I could find), until I got a reply at 14:30 EST to say that my correspondence was being forwarded to a supervisor, as the person answering the emails couldn't personally check my order status, and was told to "expect a reply from him soon." I asked for his email address, which the lady answering my email did give me - another get-bitcoin.com email address, which is to be expected so no problem there. I was then told, after asking if orders usually take this long, that they "are experiencing some difficulties with our connection to the Bitcoin network, but they should be fixed soon."

Still haven't heard from the supervisor, and I don't even know if my money has been collected from Western Union by their representative or not as their representative can't check the status of my order.. my money hasn't even been collected from Western Union yet!  Huh I did hope to use get-bitcoin in the future for large BTC buys due to their low fees, and what I thought was their ease of use, but their communication just seems to be dreadful, which is something that would certainly put me off.

TL;dr ??

I haven't a clue what's going on with my get-bitcoin.com payment after 31 hours, nobody from their company seems able to find out, and the supervisor has failed to get in touch to provide me with any answers at all.

Has anybody else had similar experiences with these guys? I'm more than willing to write a favourable review on their thread once I receive a little communication from someone who can actually tell me where my money is, and when I'm going to receive my BTC that I've paid for. I ran my own business up until I sold it recently and this complete lack of customer service would have brought it to its knees very quickly
.
C'mon get-bitcoin.com, you guys have a LOT of potential! What's going on?!

Thanks for reading all, and your comments and thoughts on this would be much appreciated!

- G

(EDIT: Just checked there as per your suggestion psytanium - money still hasn't been picked up by Alisa! Has yours? Don't know WHY I didn't think to check that before! Thanks!)
