101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Has Gavin Wood defected to Ethereum Classic? on: July 24, 2016, 01:17:26 PM
Creator of Ethereum defected to Ethereum classic?  Huh

Very interesting, and had not seen it in awhile, but the whole CMC is bleeding red.  Poloniex is bleeding red all over.  What will happen when the dust settles?  Maybe a new ATH for NEM?  NEM shot up to $120 million when the DAO was having problems.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has Any Altcoin Ever Really Gone to the Moon? on: July 24, 2016, 01:09:51 PM
but what were the volumes? in most cases this 'moon' is nothing but paper profits. you need something that goes up and stays up to really cash in. either way it must be a great feeling to count your imaginary millions.

The Doge millions seemed pretty real, at least for the one guy who bought a Lambo and put a Doge vanity plate on it.  Also the infamous God PDF with luring in gullible people to buy Doge.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has Any Altcoin Ever Really Gone to the Moon? on: July 24, 2016, 01:04:45 PM
What means "moon"  ? At least 100x price rise? Isnt ethereum like 90 times higher than in the beginning? Lisk will go 100 fold.

The first time I heard the moon stuff was with Doge.  Early adopters of Doge essentially acquired their coins for free or essentially free, minus a few bucks in electricity, and during the ATH there were millionaires.

100 fold is actually on the lower side of returns.  The lucky 8 in NXT put in like $200 each and received $5 million ATH each.  For NEM, some people acquired their stakes for as little as $1 and could had unloaded it for 30,000x (300,000%) during the ATH a few weeks ago.

For Ethereum to see a 30,000% ROI for the ICO crowd, you'ld need a market cap of $600 billion.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETC on Polo on: July 24, 2016, 08:48:36 AM
Looks like it has already been dumped a lot on Poloniex.  Imagine the irony if the classic chain somehow became more popular?  Cheesy Cheesy
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 24, 2016, 08:45:42 AM
Ethereum and NEM down 5.4%.  NEM is Ethereum's silver?  Huh  Cheesy

More probable and non-coincidental explanation is Poloniex is just seeing red everywhere.  Large whales or everyone just chickening out?

107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [2016-07-22] Ethereum Price Skyrockets After Hardfork And Coinbase Integration on: July 24, 2016, 08:38:33 AM
Wake me up when Ethereum goes higher than its' old ATH..  Roll Eyes

DAO = MtGox, you'll never see Ethereum return to $19+ (or Bitcoin to $1250+) because it's been heavily discredited in the eyes of the world.  Until the market allows a better alternative to succeed, what we're going to see is more stagnation just like the past 3 years.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 22, 2016, 03:02:52 PM
Hey, you guys should realize that Alexa stats are not very accurate, right? Check out the geo stats from a professional research tool (SimilarWeb Pro):

As you can see, it's actually the US and China that seem to be sending the most traffic to nem.io Smiley

i'm from brazil, and i'm suprised to see my country listed there  Grin
never saw nothing related to XEM around here(web pages, friends etc etc)

China, United States and Brazil are such big populations.  I think most people in the world had heard of Bitcoin, especially from infamous news like the Silkroad or MtGox, but most people on the street in those countries wouldn't know any alternatives.

When various agencies claim only 100,000 to millions of people are using crypto world wide - I'm pretty excited whenever you see a crypto thriving in a smaller population like Malaysia.  Malaysia is going to be NEM's Tiger.

Not familiar with this website and, when I load it up, it claims China is the main source of traffic.

Nevertheless, what both websites agree on, is Malaysia probably has the most NEM users per capita.

110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 22, 2016, 12:25:53 PM
Is this possible?

Nope. It's had one awesome pump. Lots of other coins have had awesome pumps too and are no closer to getting listed in such places. It is on some decent exchanges already and how many other alts have fiat trading pairs? Not many.

For the big Western exchanges it's going to need sustained and enormous volume and evidence of mass interest. Look how dead the official nem forum and subreddit are. There's virtually no one there. It might get there in a couple of years.

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/nem.io
The Reddit idea is not NEM's demographic or target audience.  Reddit is more for Americans and Western Europeans and, the few which are in crypto, already got their attention fixed on Ethereum and spam trash like Monero / Doge.  Who really thinks NEM can sneak in?  It seems a better strategy is to buildup a name in the east and then go global.

Most NEM users seem to be coming from Japan and, per capita, Malaysia.  Maybe if we go back in time most NEMbers were European and North American but, since January 2014, no one has really lifted a finger to make a presence on Reddit or to get us on more exchanges.  Hell for some 1500+ stakeholders, today only a few are active on Bitcointalk... useless...  So let's just focus on Asia, mmmmkay..

If you want to get NEM on any exchanges - stop bothering with western exchanges.  Hit up the Japanese exchanges, telling them how NEM is becoming popular there, and you might just get the 1 or 2 to add NEM.

Look up the Japanese exchanges and send them messages asking to add XEM and point out how popular it is in Japan.

https://coincheck.com/
($1 million volume)

https://www.quoine.com/
($17+ million volume and has other alternates)

https://www.btcbox.co.jp/
($10+ million volume)

($15+ million volume)

That's just the ones on coinmarketcap.  If you know any Malaysian exchanges then ask them too.  Cheesy

XEM back to 500 sats soon  Wink

Far too optimistic.  This crap is going to tanker down to 100 satoshi and then 20 satoshi, unless developers wake up from their coma and do something.  Angry

Multiple alternates are on MicroSoft Azure..

Only thing I'm seeing is they allow torrents on blockchain and kickass torrents just got raided..

Activity from Japan and Malaysia is increasing rapidly.  NEM IO is almost a top 20,000 website in Japan.  In past days NEM became a top 10,000 website in Malaysia.

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/nem.io

Anyone who is selling their NEM right now will regret it shortly.   Grin  Who's selling when adoption is taking off in Japan and Malaysia?  Shocked

116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How are some people making $11k on steem? on: July 19, 2016, 10:46:41 PM
Just out of curiosity, where is steemit userbase coming from since their original thread has only 31 pages, twitter has only 1000 followers and facebook has less than 1000 followers?

 Huh

things aren't adding up for me here. More I dive in, more complicated it gets.

The people falling for the Steem trap aren't crypto people. They are normal people who hear from word of mouth that "This girl just got paid $11,000 for having tits on this site called Steemit!" Then they say wow! and they make a few posts. Then they realize they don't have tits and, as such, don't get any money. However, every now and then one of them does have tits, and they tell their friends about their success.

At this point Steem is basically the titcoin meme that Pornhub made a video about. I'd be absolutely embarrassed if I were an investor of this fraud.

So does that mean Steemit is breaking through the mainstream?  Some of you may frown upon it but by hook and by crook Steemit looks to achieve what other altcoins have failed in.  Maybe they're finally on to something here.

Absolutely not. I remember reading that someone said there are about 13,000 accounts on Steemit. That is absolutely nothing compared to Tumblr, which essentially achieves the same task as Steemit but with a much higher magnitude of quality. Once morons realized they are too late to hop on the train and their investments are only lining the pockets of the whales on top the money will dry up. Once the money dries up the platform is dead because that is literally the only draw to it as of now.

I had already pointed it out 5 times but let's do it again.  If we use Alexa Ranking, Steemit is nowhere as popular as Reddit clones like Voat.  How could anyone say Steemit is mainstream when it has less users than Voat and other Reddit knockoffs?  As well Steemit has not been providing information like user retention, user attrition, et al.  I imagine thousands of users have already left the website, realizing they can't make $10,000 a post like a hot chick.     Never mind this is a coin where less than 5% of the total supply is available for trading.    There's red flags everywhere for me.
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 19, 2016, 10:06:07 PM
Not interested in the daytrader's price - they don't operate on fundamentals of any sort ~ they're just there for a 2x-10x ROI.  Next time NEM rallies, a lot of those daytraders will whine about missing out and will call it a "pump".  I know because I saw it on the rise from $3 million XEM.

NEM has very strong fundamentals and they are improving.

If you had been following Google Trends and Alexa Ranking like I have, NEM is currently at the all-time high popularity, gaining in website popularity and soon it will be a top 10,000 website in Malaysia.  I have seen the share of visitors for Japan go from 26% to 31% in the past weeks.  Malaysia wasn't even in the top 5 but, thanks to the work of Rockethead and other NEMbers in Malaysia, Malaysia overtook Russia and Germany and now has the highest per capita traffic of NEMbers.

To me this indicative that NEM is gaining ground and has a bright future in Japan and South East Asia.  If NEM continues to gain adoption in Asia like right now, the current price and capitalization today in a year's time will be viewed as a "give away" / "free" / "cheap"

118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 18, 2016, 12:25:43 PM
Thanks.  So, it's better to accumulate as many as possible now while they're still cheap, and then think about becoming a supernode when the price rises in the long term.  "If" it rose to a dollar per XEM, that would be paying out around circa $50,000 a month as a supernode.

I think it would be considered one of the best passive investments.  A lot of funds can average return 2%-7% since inception (averaged per year) but this is for an inflationary and skyrocketing cost of living US dollar.  Your fund might go up 5% but did you know "food inflation" (increasing prices at grocery stores) can be between 3%-9% in a given year?  Your fund might be gaining money but you may net lose purchasing power.

I did some calculations and, as long as SuperNODE payouts remain above 150 XEM a day forever, then you can get 2.5% return on a non-inflationary platform.
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Cashout $53 with one post on Steemit on: July 18, 2016, 09:24:00 AM
All the voting power is concentrated by a few early adopters / developers.  This produces bizarre cases where threads have less than 20 comments but are making $1000s - but vice versa, with a popular thread making little money for the producer.

The rhetoric they'll tell you is it is all about the producer but it's really about producing the content the whales want.  Bitshares circle jerk?  Attractive woman?  Then you'll get $1000s without effort.  Everybody else is a peasant content producer with peasant votes.

120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How are some people making $11k on steem? on: July 16, 2016, 10:17:36 PM
If someone likes your posts with a new account, it will not even earn you one cent, but when a big account with alot of STEEM power likes your post, it might be even 10,20 or even 50$ for a single like. That is why I think it is a crazy shit forum. If girls post a stupid introduction with a sexy picture they get much likes and earn thousands of dollars with one post, unbelievable.

I thought about that too.  But here's the counter argument.  What can you post that you think will get you likes that will be worth and make you earn thousands of USD?  It's not that the whole system is stupid, it's the ones doing the upvotes.  It's kinda like the real world actually.  Would you rather be with a nerd cryptotard talking about the future of money or would you rather be talking to a beautiful, sexy woman?

ROFLMAO AT DUMBwEED

You go to Reddit's trending page and you don't see women dominating the first 5 / 10 trends.  Son, you gotta sit down and re-evaluate your life!  Owned!!
