1  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Madness! The Iranians Get to Self Inspect in Secret Side Deal on: August 20, 2015, 04:47:27 PM
If this isn't part of the deal they made with us and our allies then how would voting against it make a difference?
Remind us again what the negotiations were supposed to do. Why did we bother to negotiate at all?

3  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Depraved ISIS fighters throw man from a building in Iraq for being gay.......... on: August 06, 2015, 04:37:53 AM
Firstly, the link states a crowd of laughing and baying men yet the picture shows that is a lie.

Now, what is really happening. People are being thrown off buildings for disobeying ISIS, whether gay or not. Anyone who threatens their power is being murdered, and the rest of the population who are in the area are coerced to watch. Those thrown off are used as examples to show what will happen to the next person.

What more do you want Obama to do?

I'd pretty much agree with this. However listening to one gay who escaped they apparently are systematically looking and finding gays and even they do not know how they are dong it - of course others will do just a well too and it is mainly to create terror but they also do seem to be trying to do a 'genocide' on gays.

5  Other / Politics & Society / Re: After Criticism, Obama Finally Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Tenn. Victims on: July 22, 2015, 05:42:23 PM
Oh yeah. Obama should go full Bush on these Islams. Cause that worked out soooooo well for us.

Or he could ...ya know ...show the customary level of respect by hoisting our flag to half mast in a timely manner.

Took them all of 5 and a half hours to setup a homo-rainbow colored light show.

Was the flag too much to ask of this Muslim terrorist loving President?

Obviously, yes, it was ...and apparently you agree or did I get that wrong?

Ok, this is going to get interesting. Obama & Co. don't want people to have guns, but now that a gun dealer won't sell guns to people he feels would create a threat will Obama make this into a deal similar to not selling someone a wedding cake? Does Obama defend gun ownership? I'm saying he does.

So the gun shop owner won't sell guns to those who might do harm to fellow patriots.

7  Other / Politics & Society / Unarmed Mississippi man died after 20-minute police chokehold, witnesses say on: July 16, 2015, 05:09:33 PM

Witnesses have told Mississippi state investigators that an unarmed black man died after being kept in a chokehold by a police officer for more than 20 minutes and denied CPR, according to his family’s attorneys, who said an autopsy confirmed he was fatally strangled.

Did you notice that cops are too aggressive today?
Damn this is kept pretty quiet cause I live in Mississippi and this is the first I've heard of it. Hope it don't get swept under the rug.
Is this police brutality problem really not systemic?

10  Economy / Economics / Re: Iceland Recovering Fast in Europe After Jailing Bankers Instead of Bailing Them on: July 08, 2015, 07:54:08 PM
I don't think it was as simple as that. Because the banks were not bailed out, many people lost their savings. The majority of the savers were not living in Iceland. So in effect, the money that the banks owed (to those savers) was already invested in Icelandic properties and Icelandic companies but those investments were paid for by other non-Icelandic Europeans.

13  Other / Politics & Society / Secular vs religious marriage and other rights, Poly etc. on: July 06, 2015, 07:24:40 AM
I live in a community where there are several "poly" communes- several sets of adults that are "religiously" married. They have several "legal" married couples within the group. They have children between them. often not between the legal married couples. Also- there are several BDSM "poly" farms here in Hawaii, that have some sort of hierarchy that only they themselves can really define.

What is interesting to me living here and seeing this is this- they are having a hard time negotiating the financial and legal obligations of their relationships. Some also have some kinds of religious beliefs that holds their communities together. I seem to see that most of the communities are no more or less successful than one man one woman marriages. They live on farms and co-own, well, the farm. Sometimes these communes break up and it is not healthy for the children or the adults regarding what happens next in courts.

Secular marriage as it is practiced in America, for about 100 years now, has nothing to do with procreation or religion- but rather, the rights the married has when a spouse becomes ill and can not make decisions for themselves, or the marriage has ended. The actual day to day living of marriage means nothing legally at all.

The idea that "one man one woman" is the "traditional" marriage is of course wrong- polygamist marriage far out dates our current secular definitions.

So my question is:

Should the government end the marriage thing as we know it?

Should we go to contractual agreements only- without the current "default" we have now?

It's funny how even some people on this site claim the superiority of the northern Italians over the southern ones. If this happened in some of the southern regions, the school would have burnt to the ground with the teachers in it.
