For those having issues with the wallets lagging out/memory usage, whilst solo-mining against the wallet; make sure you adjust your ccminer config so -s is at 5 or 10.

When pool mining -s 1 or -s 2 is fine, however it will cause issues for any QT wallet being polled that often/quickly.
The linux daemon seems to handle it fine Smiley

when will there be a new pool? suprnova were not consistent always disconnecting

getting tired of posts like this.
ive been putting a shit-tonne of time into this, when i can afford to spare the time.
it seems a lot of people have the something for nothing attitude.

pool will be available when the code is done and testing is complete.

i've written a shim that sits between cryptonite and the stratum, that reads the result of 'getblocktemplate' and rebuilds it to suit stratum-mining.
the issue then seems to be the transport layer, which is what i'm working on right now.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IV3jTOsPdX8

i've got an alternative approach written in case this fails; where it actually decodes/interprets coinbasetx to suit.
what makes it difficult, is only having an amd gpu..

the standard xcn cpuminer only requests 'getwork' regardless of what you tell it to use (ie --no-getwork).

does anyone build pool use nomp and mpos successfully?

Yes, but only with Litecoin.
Still figuring out how to add in a new algorithm (a new coin to an existing supported algorithm, is easy enough).
With an added difficulty of communicating with the XCN Wallet... I think I got the idea of what is needed to be modified. The hardest part for me is the algorithm at this stage.

i'd actually created a m7 stratum module for nomp a little while back,
it was the getblocktemplate giving me issues.

however i've just got that part sorted and doing some testing now.

EDIT: depending on how you handle the getblocktemplate, you will run into a specific issue using nomp.. (just a hint)

Hi pallas,
Why you dont make pool for this coin?
suprnova pool dosnt work...agane and agane...
If making pool so easy - why you dont build it?

Im miner. If profitable coin exist and no pool - something strange in the air.
If it easy to make it - just make it. Or support somebody who can do it.
Give me worked pool - and I mine it and support your coin.

erm, have you ever modified a pool to suit a custom algo/coin before?
not sure where you got easy from.

feel free to solo-mine the coin.

So with this new update do we just mine from the wallet considering it is a new algorithm ?

Originally the plan was to mine entirely from the wallet.
However since the Algorithm is reasonably (not brutal) difficult on the CPU; i worry that this may lead to orphaned blocks, which is quite common when solo-mining and has occurred during testing.

More on this shortly.

Hi all,

Apologies for the absence, i have been quite active over on the Mooncoin Discord.

A status update:

a) Mooncoin ported over to Litecoin 13.3 codebase with segwit.

b) PoW algorithm has been changed from scrypt to a custom algo lyra2m (Lyra2 Moon). I've received confirmation from a seasoned opencl programmer that even if a GPU miner was written; it would have zero advantage over a CPU.

c) Diff retargetting code has been updated to a slightly modified Dual_KGW3 (with some 'spacing code' added to smooth the difficulty between algorithms - required). I have posted several graphs showing DK3's magic at work:

d) People have been complaining as to how long the chain takes to sync from scratch (one user mentioned a day or two); i've implemented my own style of 'warpsync' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgv6v4-QAfA) which peaks around 200 blocks per second. On average, on a core2quad 2.33 with a 'weak' Australian 25/5 connection; the chain can be sync'd in scratch in approximately 34 minutes. Will actually be much faster for most users.

e) I've included the option to run a compressed blockchain (for those interested, google BUIP017) however im not playing too much importance on it until everything is running perfectly.

f) Native Moonlite in-wallet integration.

hi all,

please do not use the portable wallets (i've posted a few times before regarding this).
they will be refreshed when the new client is ready.
for those that have used in the meantime; i have posted detailed instructions a few pages previous on how to recover your funds.

yep, 0.10.5-tokenblock qt wallet. It's been half an hour and still no connection at all.

i've noticed that it does take some time to successfully discover other nodes for some reason; this wasnt always the case though.
this will be given attention in the next release.

for the moment:
addnode bazco.in add
addnode moonrush.org add

done via debug console should get it up and running.

Hi James,

Since difficulty retargeting algorithm will have to be changed as it is obviously flawed in current mining environment (huge pools jumping in and out), a hardfork is needed to update this if I understand correctly?
I agree with you when a hardfork will be needed anyhow that updating the PoW algorithm could be a nice extra. Any algo's you're currently considering?
Could you also update the repository so the community can review changes being made and perhaps contribute and assist in updating the codebase?
Thanks for your efforts.

i've got a range and have discovered the candidate that is currently in place is not ideal; as there is a large (and arguably unfair) advantage given to GPU miners.
its not currently set in stone; but ideally i'd like to see a primarily cpu based algo - with gpu mining possible but not with any major (1.5-2x) advantage.

makes it fair for everyone Smiley

Hi all,

To recover stuck funds (electrum/coinomi and moonrush):

Moonrush:

i) Visit the moonrush wallet; and obtain your 'brainwallet' phrase which is either in the url (the part after #); or via export private keys at top righthand side.

ii) Once you've copied this; visit http://wallet.moonrush.org/brainwallet_moon.html and paste the brainwallet phrase into 'passphrase' - then click toggle key to reveal your private key.

iii) Open the Mooncoin-qt wallet; enter the 'debug console' via the help menu. Enter 'importprivkey <key>' where key is the private key.

The wallet will rescan all blocks and funds will appear.

Electrum:

i) Simply open your electrum wallet, select the address funds were sent 'from', right click it and select private key. From here, follow Moonrush instructions part iii.

Coinomi wallet:

i) Install 'ES File Explorer'; your phone also needs to be 'rooted' - however this is a prerequisite for installing Coinomi MOON so non issue Smiley

ii) Navigate to /data/data/com.coinomi.moon/filles and you will see a file 'wallet':

iii) Click the file, open as text and choose 'ES Notepad' (or similar) to view it as plaintext:

iv) Write down the 15 word phrase.

v) Visit http://bazco.in/bip39.html and enter the phrase into the BIP39 recovery area.

vi) Make sure BIP 44 is selected where shown, and set the Coin field to 1 manually (even if it was 1 when loaded):

vii) Copy and paste the private key; follow Moonrush instructions part iii from here.

I hope this helps anyone with transaction issues,
I am busy continuing with 13.3 codebase and a new portable wallet; amongst other things.

Any experienced users; could you please help the newcomers where possible.

Barry do you have any new updates regarding bittrex or poloniex?

no? this will come in the future..
i've been busy on the new codebase

to all,

i have stopped electrum/coinomi and moonrush, as although there are plenty of users successfully sending/receiving funds; there are quite a few who have run into issues with stuck transactions resulting from attempted spends of unconfirmed funds - and this is costing me quite some time to resolve each one individually.

please use mooncoin-qt for now; i am writing some routines to extract funds where stuck.

for those with stuck funds; i have all your details that have been PM'd to me.
there is something new in the works which will replace all three.

Are you really going to change the algo? In my opinion it is not a good idea)
Which one did you choose?

Mooncoin was born with scrypt algo, and still alive because of scrypt algo.
If you want to switch the algo, do it a multi-algo coin. It's better to add something than replace or remove

scrypt has become inherently centralized with powerful players owning the majority of the hashpower.
the idea behind algo change is to make it easier for your average user to mine with CPU/GPU, which hasnt been a worthwhile option for some time now.

more to come once the new codebase has reached maturity.

Hi i can't install the wallet on Ubuntu, can anyone explain me step by step please or send me a link where it's explained?  Huh
Thank you guys  Wink

for the console wallet:

Code:
apt-get update
apt-get install -y build-essential autoconf automake libssl-dev libboost-all-dev libdb5.3-dev libdb5.3++-dev libtool pkg-config git
git clone https://github.com/mooncoindev/mooncoin
cd mooncoin
./autogen.sh
./configure --with-incompatible-bdb
make
strip src/Mooncoin*

this is from memory, i may have mispelled a library if you run into issues.
the resulting binaries are in 'src/', late ubuntu releases do not have a libdb4.8.30 package; so if you use this method make sure you keep a copy of your private keys as the wallet.dat isnt portable

Hey Barry,
i've got wallet.dat from earlier (with all coins are on it because i'm not mining anymore since 2 years)

And no, noone has access to my pc.... i was at home alone...cut the lawn and come back and my coins are missing.

I've updated the wallet a few month ago...and successfully downloaded the blockchain (last time 13 weeks ago). Today I want to download the blockchain again because the rising of moon...and *bash*...all are gone on 6.6.2017 at 11.23....

I've earned 1 Mooncoin too as you can see in may transactions... but i've never mined the last to years. From who the Mooncoin was sent you can't see... even where four of the big transactions are sent... (k.A.).

I'm very sad at the moment, hope to see the coins again.

I'm already in communication with mooncoin_foundation but there is no solution yet Sad

Greetings

Gormadoc

i had a similar incident occur in the cryptsy days; was horrid.
i'm talking with mooncoin_foundation in regards to details.

i'm aware that there are other compiles of mooncoin by other people; different platforms/logos etc
in the meantime people - please only use compiles found from the official repo at https://github.com/mooncoindev/mooncoin

Great to hear all this progress, good work James!

I have a question. Yesterday I received on two addresses in my wallet 1 mooncoin. It came from this block:

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/moon/block.dws?1114897.htm

50,000 moon was mined from which 49,000 moon was sent to 1 address and 999 moon was sent to 999 addresses including two of mine.

What is this? I have never (since 2013) received coins from a mined block.

Greetings GrGringo

someone is spamming existing addresses on the mooncoin blockchain;
i noticed this with lots of amounts of 10 as well.

never had this sort of activity in the past; i can only guess that it was to do with the segwit announcement; or someone wanting to see which addresses are still active. can only guess..

Dont use moonrush wallet. I just tried to send my mcoins from bazco.in(moonrush) to mooncore wallet (qt) and my txn stuck.

http://prntscr.com/ffdu10

Txn explorer shows 502 bad gateway when I check https://bchain.info/MOON/tx/{TXID}

Barry, could you contact me in discord about stucked coins

i've had this similar situation from another user recently (spent coins before they had confirmed).
i've got a method to retrieve stuck coins; nearly completed..
will announce when ready

Please help!

Today 've I updated my Blockcain with Mooncoin-qt.exe v 0.10.5.0.

When I come back to my computer all my mooncoins (about 342 Millions!) are gone! !!!!
My Wallet is 2RTevgn4cqiaBCwEZf4MtzmQdFtV8RMph3, so you can look at the deasaster!
I have done no transaction!

My Wallet is encrypted and protected with passphrase.

How could it be?

I have a copy of the wallet too...

How should I go on now!

The transactions all are done at 6.6.2017 at 11.23.
Four of them are gone to nowwhere Huh? (k.A.)

That cannot be true! What has happend?

Thanks a lot for helping me out of these crap!

Gormadoc

hi gormadoc,

can i confirm you were using the latest copy from https://github.com/mooncoindev/mooncoin/releases/download/0.10.5-tokenblock/Mooncoin-qt.zip?
did you upgrade from the older original wallets from 2014?
if you've got a copy of your wallet.dat backed up this is a step in the right direction.

the fact that the funds have been spent is worrying.. has anyone else had access to your pc whilst syncing?

hi all,

have had a successful compile of mooncoin 13.3 with segwit, diff retarget algo with modified dual kgw3 and new pow algo.
only little work remaining; such as the algo swapover point and some testing - and it will be ready for public use..

absolutely exhausted, apologies for the silence,
the moon is definitely visible now.
