1101  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - a new thin client on: May 20, 2012, 06:03:43 AM
I think there's a new bug that shows bad data for transactions and wallet balance while they are pending. Probably related to the 'display coins sent to change address' commit. I will post some screenshots tomorrow, can't right now as I'm posting from my phone.

More about this one, with screenshots taken yesterday, while the issue was visible:

The data displayed for amount and balance are incorrect for while a transaction is pending:

There should be a single -0.192 transaction at 23:00, as seen in the second screenshot,
but instead, Electrum was showing 2 positive transactions, +5.376 and +5.184? With
some addresses I don't recognize - quite possibly these are some of my change addresses
I suspect:

My wallet balance should be around 20 BTC, not 30 - Once the transactions get confirmed, the data is OK again:

Perhaps a bug in commit 12e2b8d ?

[EDIT]  Tried to reproduce the issue this morning, but can't.
1102  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - a new thin client on: May 20, 2012, 05:57:32 AM
Thanks. I just tested it, and now I can see that when the process stalls
at the last address (115 for me) there is no more data received, and I have to
manually close the window. (First, I tried to wait for 3 minutes but nothing else
was happening)

can you test if you still have that problem?
I just fixed something (serverside) that could have had to do with it

Nope, the same thing still happens (just tested again)...
But the download / address generation seems to be a bit faster now!

Thats more than I deserve  Roll Eyes

Maybe "Consolas" would be fine, or "DejaVu"? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samples_of_monospaced_typefaces
I m not sure about the size.

No problem, I don't get such good donations every day... Smiley I don't have DejaVu here, but below is a preview of the GUI with Consolas, size 12. Let me know if you would you like that and I can make the release tomorrow morning.

1105  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - a new thin client on: May 19, 2012, 08:23:34 PM
version 0.52 released today.

no new features, but 3 bugfixes:
 * correctly display small amounts (reported by flatfly)
 * display "at:" address if bitcoins are received on a change address (reported by flatfly)
 * fix socket problem

Thanks for fixing those little issues so fast.
1106  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Minimal Electrum builds for Windows XP & 7 on: May 19, 2012, 05:41:47 PM
Hi. I just tested the new build, it works fine  Tongue

The new font is better than the previous one, but its a bit small. Could you make it 1pt larger?

I like the new electrum and I just send you 5 BTC. Some more will come  Smiley

Thanks a lot for your feedback and cool donation! Very motivating.

That font ('Fixedsys') only has one size I'm afraid (as you can verify in notepad for example).
However if you have another font on your system that you would prefer to use, I'll be happy to
make a custom build for you.

(Note that for the number alignments to look right, the font needs to be a monospace/fixed-width font)

Build 0.52 has been released!
5.9MB standalone executable, with console support.

changes in this version:
a couple of bugfixes by ThomasV
1108  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - a new thin client on: May 19, 2012, 09:50:05 AM
1. tiny amounts (like 1 satoshi) are unexpectedly displayed in 'scientific
notation', such as 1E-8 rather than 0.00000001.
indeed. format_satoshis() needs to be rewritten using Decimal.as_tuple()

Quote
2. i was playing around with satoshidice a little bit: the amounts returned
by satoshidice show with a blank description, which looks a bit strange...
I see. this is because it is sending to a change address.  EDIT: that's fixed on git.

Thanks!

Just a small thing: in the terms of use, it seems there's a word missing in the below sentence:

We will collect and use of personal information solely with the objective of fulfilling those purposes
specified by us and for other compatible purposes, unless we obtain the consent of the individual
concerned or as required by law.

Hi,

I have 2 (very minor) issues to report:

1. tiny amounts (like 1 satoshi) are unexpectedly displayed in 'scientific
notation', such as 1E-8 rather than 0.00000001.

2. i was playing around with satoshidice a little bit: the amounts returned
by satoshidice show with a blank description, which looks a bit strange...

(both issues can be seen in the topmost entry of the screenshot)

Other than that, everything looks great!

1111  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Minimal Electrum builds for Windows XP & 7 on: May 18, 2012, 08:25:02 PM
I tried new console window with few commands and it works great! And the fact that it's there only when you need it... is so HANDY! : )

Thanks!

Great, enjoy Wink
I also find it very convenient!

Great! I guess it's donation time again for both of you : )

Thanks minimalB, really appreciated. And I'm glad you like the new build!

Build 0.51 for Windows has been released.
Probably my most polished build to date!

As announced in the other thread, I have found a way to add a virtual
console to my package that should support the full Electrum command-line.
All tests have proven quite good so far.

Note: I did change the font again, this time to Fixedsys (another default
Windows monospace font), for better compatibility with Vista. I think it
is quite readable too, but am open to suggestions if you don't like it...

Stand-alone release 0.49d for Windows is out.

Includes all the latest and greatest fixes and features added by ThomasV.

Seems to be extremely stable.

This is also my first build that integrates a custom virtual console
with full command-line support - Just hold down the SHIFT key while starting
the application to access it.

Please note that this is an experimental feature, for advanced users only.
1115  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Minimal Electrum builds for Windows XP & 7 on: May 18, 2012, 03:03:11 PM
The parentheses problem should be fixed in 0.49d (just released).

[EDIT] Build 0.51 uses a new monospace font (Fixedsys)! I hope you like this one better.

Otherwise, if you're okay with editing Python source code, I can look up the exact file
and line to edit.

1116  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Minimal Electrum builds for Windows XP & 7 on: May 18, 2012, 10:32:38 AM
Import works now! It had some swapped digits in my private keys.
The other commands work fine. Can you adjust the parentheses mismatch?

One more request: I dont like that Lucida font. I would appreciate an option to switch the font (sth like Arial).

Im leaving now for 2 days. Donation will follow  Wink

Great news, glad I could help!
I will fix the parentheses in the next build.
Regarding the font, are you talking about the GUI font or the console font?
It shouldn't be Lucida, so could you post a screenshot when you get a chance? Just so I know if this could be Vista related.
1117  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Minimal Electrum builds for Windows XP & 7 on: May 18, 2012, 09:51:42 AM
Just to clarify, the post of bitcats is about a new experimental build I made last night that includes a full console mode for Windows. See details in  this post if you feel adventurous!
1118  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Minimal Electrum builds for Windows XP & 7 on: May 18, 2012, 09:46:50 AM
Wow! Well done   Smiley
When I open the exe with shift key, I get: "python )electrum= -o addresses"
So i have to correct the parentheses manually. After that it works!

I also tested the import command, but I just get the message "error". Does it work for you?

PS: I hope you could find some sleep now  Wink

Not sleeping yet Smiley

So the addresses command works for you too? Please could you also try some other commands (balance, history)  and let me know if they work?

For me, yes, the import command works fine, both in online and offline mode.

Please post screenshots of any error messages if you can, they will help me fix the issues.
1119  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOWTO: create a 100% secure wallet on: May 18, 2012, 06:08:19 AM
OK you're lucky, I couldn't manage to sleep so I spent all night working
on a special build of release 0.49b that finally includes a console. Smiley

Please download and try it from:
 http://win-electrum.googlecode.com/files/elec049b3.exe
 SHA-1: 6f1a8f787b76c9544399fdaa62e4d92788a174d7
 VirusTotal report: here

Notes:
To access the console: just hold down the SHIFT key while launching electrum.
Also, when typing commands, enclose electrum with parentheses (as shown in the example screenshot)

I'm not sure it will work for you right away, but at least you should get some more detailed error messages if it doesn't. Don't hesitate to report any errors.

1120  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Hey, BitMe! on: May 18, 2012, 02:28:34 AM
Anyway, I can understand that it's not a priority for you at this time, but please don't underestimate this issue,
as any script kiddie could potentially DoS (or DDOS) the site through that way - heck, a script isn't even necessarily needed to do it.

Thanks a lot for this one flatly. I noticed a problem with how I was caching the js building, so it was actually being done on every request before! I've gone ahead and fixed this and the site should be noticeably more responsive. I've run out of BTC, but I owe you 20 for this one.

Great! I'm glad I could help, and I like how you really are a man of your word.
