And you forget he stole hardware and sold it on ebay.
This is the most bad point about this situation. If he only mined coins on the system this wouldn't be that bad at all. It's still stealing company resources. He might get off with a reprimand if it's only bitcoin mining. Stealing escalates this whole matter. Yes, electricity that gets written off on taxes as a business expense is one thing. The "I've taken 10+ ram sticks, LAPTOPS and sold them on eBay" thing was what got my idiot meter going. Daniel if you're still reading this thread I hope that everything works out for you for the better and that you seriously learn a lesson.

This guide is incredible. I'm having a small problem though.
I can run poclbm miner just fine with one card on a 2 card system(2x5850).
When I open up a second ssh window and start another poclbm on -d1 instead of -d0, it starts, but it on has half the hash rate and it reduces the other miners hash rate by half.
No matter what combo i use -d1 -d0 --platform etc, the second miner always cuts the first miners hash rate in half. Any ideas?

I think this may have been taken a little too far....lol Anyways, like I said: My first firing was some smug asshole who didn't cover his tracks properly Edit: I take that back, I forgot about the stolen laptops and ram to sell on eBay admission. Burn the heretic!

Done oil before. Huge pain in the ass. Unless you like thai massage parlors. I would stick with water, oil still needs to be circulated and it is very very very^12 very messy and inconvenient.

Got home, added the EULA to the .cfg file and changed the value per the instructions on google. Now when I try to set the clock on GPU or memory the values return to "0" in afterburner. Undid the changes in the .CFG file and I am back to being limited to 775 mhz. --Note-- I am -not- using an MSI card... does this matter?

Wow... Is it just me who finds this offensive? (as a fellow IT Professional for the past 15 years).
Also I wouldn't bet "they can't catch you" if I were you... They could (likely) notice the increased power usage, and when they do they may start investigating (calling the utility company, to find out why, they may send someone to meter it, and so on, eventually figuring out that it's the computers drawing power, at that point you're going to have some explaining to do).
+1 to this. As an IT admin myself this sickens me. I would hope that the mod's on this board who have logged your IP address will use it to find out which company you work for and notify them of this thread. I personally would be willing to come in to that business and gather forensic evidence to have you arrested, and I'd do it pro bono. +1 My first firing was some smug asshole who didn't check the back of his computer for the keyghost I installed. ...And I quote: "I could walk out of here with the roof and these idiots wouldn't know it was missing. So seriously, do you want these 35 PSU's or not? I've got more work to pretend to be doing." Using your company's power and computers for mining is kinda funny, but blatantly admitting to stealing ram and laptops to sell them on eBay? Seriously? If you fuck this up when you're 20 you will not be able to be bonded when you're older and responsible and it will be time for a career change. Enjoy bagging my groceries.

Crazy thing called Google, might be a place to start.
"Here, let me google that for you" was so last year.

Reoporting Bitcoins for taxes is A GIANT STEP IN THE WRONG DIRECTION.
Did you pay money for them? Did you make money when you sold them? Then it's expected that you'd pay taxes on the capital gains. Grow up.
You've never actually done your taxes before, have you?
Sounds about right. This is, more or less, the conversation I had with the accountant, and very similar to the conversation I had with him 3 years ago when playing poker online was profitable. Edit: By the way, I was also advised to not cash out without a substantial bank roll. I usually only cashed out in multiples of $5,000 and reported them in blocks. I suspect the same would be true with MtGox, Tradehill, etc. because it's not income until its in your bank account.

Ugh, for some reason VNC won't respond on my home comp. I will try the UnofficialEULA thing when I get back home and report. That seems like the problem.

but for how long can we go on like we currently are? I gotta pay taxes for shitty roads and my income. I pay more percentage wise on my taxes than multi-millionaires! curses, says I!
I started thinking this way the other day. Very depressing. I use such little roads I wish they were all tollways. Pay-Per-Use roads ftw.

It's my understanding that you need to unlock the bios to achieve higher clock speeds. My 4x 5850's are maxed at 775 mhz and I haven't quite figured out how to unlock them yet.

Just got 4x 5850 reference cards (i think). All of them cap out at 775mhz in the MSI afterburner and the CCC. I've read here and there about people unlocking the bios or using the 5870 bios instead to achieve higher clock speeds and thus higher mh/s, but this is outside of my pay grade.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the replies.
I paid my accountant $75.00 to tell me that I should report it as misc. income if I cash out bitcoins... lulz.
