161  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: September 16, 2015, 11:52:16 PM
Are girls / women interested in Bitcoin ?
Your opinion ?

I have come across some girls in my experience P2P lending.  However, women represent a small minority.  There are a few big personalities actually.  Not all of them have been honest though, just like their male counterparts.
162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 99%guarantee on profit on this bet[odds:1.3] on: September 16, 2015, 08:38:46 AM

Can you give me some more free money please?  I missed that one.  Thanks!!!

You should be glad to have missed it, as the so called 99% guaranteed bet lost. After knowing that, I am not sure whether you still want more tips from OP anymore. Smiley

Haha, thanks!  Glad I was too late.
163  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How to add a miner to a PSU with a modular cable... on: September 16, 2015, 08:35:54 AM
Thanks everyone for helping me with this issue.  I ended up with an S5 now (Bitmain replaced my S3 with S5 after a series of follies on their part that caused substantial delays in repair).  I think I am just going to get the 1000 watt Bitmain PSU for the S5 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bitmain-Antminer-S5-1000W-PSU-Power-Supply-complete-kit-to-power-a-Antminer-S5-/171905659195?hash=item280660313b) and then get another S3 for the PSU I was using before for my old S3 that broke.  Seems like the safest way to play this and will also be very profitable.
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had to choose to put 5 BTC into 1 BTC investment, what would that be? on: September 16, 2015, 08:16:01 AM
Cash it out and buy some Amazon stocks. At the current price, you can get about 2 or 3 shares. And within a year, you'll probably double it.

I think AMZN is about to take a massive beating.  Price/Book: 21.  PEG:  9.3.  Enterprise Value/EBITDA:  44.  Forward P/E: 108.  Debt/Equity: 152.  Profit Margin:  -0.20%.

Doesn't sound like a home run to me.
165  Other / Politics & Society / Re: USA attack to RUSSIA soon. on: September 16, 2015, 07:57:18 AM
I heard from rt that USA is going to attack RUSSIA soon. How USA will attack and where invasion will start? I'd like to know  Huh

I heard that Russia is trying to rebuild the Soviet Union and the Vladimir Putin is an insane megalomaniac who has decided to start invading former soviet bloc countries like Ukraine, Georgia, etc.  Is this true?  I'd like to know?  Thanks.
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATMs spreading very slowly it seems... on: September 16, 2015, 07:52:29 AM
The demand is going down. In my country, there are several Bitcoin ATMs (All of them installed in either 2013 or 2014). Until 2014, I could witness short, but healthy queues in front of these ATMs very frequently. But nowadays, I am hardly seeing anyone using them. The initial euphoria is over, and the interest seems to be going down.  Angry

That's until the next swings/rally in price, you will see how people will line up again.

Once you learn about the exchanges, investing BTC, and connecting bank accounts, etc. you don't need to pay the ATM fees.
Then you would start to pay exchange and bank fees. If you think about it, the ATM is much more convenient than using an exchange. Most of the time, exchange requires you to verify both address and ID, this can take several days depending on the exchange. After that, a SEPA/Bank transfer would usually take several days. For ATMS, you only require your driver license and cash. Your conversion is done in max two hours if you haven't verify yet.

ATMs are nice when I need quick cash from my BTCs because it take several days to transfer BTC from my wallet to my bank account but I can buy BTC instantly to my wallet for 1% which is much less than an ATM, and sell for 1% fee which is also much less.  The 5-10% you pay each time for an ATM adds up tremendously over time and really eats at returns.
167  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much do you think 1 Bitcoin will be worth in 2020? on: September 16, 2015, 07:43:53 AM
why would you hope for hyper inflation? That seems like a stupid think to hope for, like a nuclear war.

Well, in a sense yes.  Hyper-inflation led to the rise of the Nazi party, so yes it would be geopolitically very dangerous.  But for bitcoin holders, it could prove very profitable since Bitcoin is a deflationary asset.
168  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How to add a miner to a PSU with a modular cable... on: September 07, 2015, 06:37:07 PM

Ok thanks.  Just found this picture which seems to match up with what you said.  Does it matter what red ports I use?

It does not as long as you use a separate cable fo each side of your miner.  This is because, as mentioned several times, that particular supply has individual 30A 12v rails (360w per) and the antminer needs 360w total, so to keep things at 80% utilization on your power supply AND so your cables don't fry out (cause fires), it is safest to load up two separate rails.

Awesome, thank you your help.  This is my first miner so this all new to me.  Do you think it will be safe to run a second S3s with this power supply?  (one with the native cables and then a new one with the two modular cables I will get) You mentioned fires and the PSU only having two 12v rails at 360w per.

Wrong

Only one per rail so to run two machines all four rails must be used.

This mean the three red jacks are needed and the attached none remove able cable should be the fourth rail

Using all four rails is a must on this psu to do two miners.

@ op. Buy or get three remove able cables if you want to do two miners

This may be correct, it is hard to tell without a schematic.  I am sorry for any mis-ionformation, looking at the .pdf of the offered specs for this power supply it is unclear how the rails are wired, it may well be that one internal rail provides both MB 12v power AND powers the 2 integral PCI-E connectors, I would hope not, but this may be the case.

The chart for the 1000w suppyl shows TWO 'native' connectors, and TWO modular ones, and I would suppose that each of these FOUR would be on a separate rail, (with the MB connectors sharing one, but we would not be drawing off of this) however the picture appears to have THREE of said red connectors, so I have no idea how these might be wired internally, as the pictures offered do not match the chart!

If your wires are getting very warm to the touch, you are drawing near the limit of power and should explore alternative configurations, this supply, as others with 30A rails MAY be able to power an S3 one one rail (I've seen it many times, and consider it a fire hazard), but your wires would be getting quite warm and your supply's capacitors and transformer(s) would be over-taxed and this is not a good thing.

All that said, your supply has FOUR individual 12v rails, which should be independent of each other, if you are handy with a multimeter, you may be able to figure out which is which, otherwise dig for more specs or examine the docs for your PSU and each of these rails should power ONE hashing board, or one SIDE of each miner.  If you can get one rail per board, you will be solid.

Good luck!

Edit:

Looking back at the pic in the op, IF the cable pictured that represents the TWO 'native' PCI-E connectors listed is of the BRANCHED type, meaning that it is just a short jumper that provides the second connector, then it is highly likely that, as mentioned, all THREE modular connectors would be required to run two S3 units from this power supply.

Thanks for your answers.  I am starting to think I might be better off selling this and getting the Antminer 1000W PSU.  That runs two S3s just fine doesn't it?  If I did use all three red ports, how do you connect three dual 6pin +2 pin pci cables into one antminer?

Yes, you Will be fine to run two S3 units from this 1000w supply,  one using the two PCI E connectors built-in, and two plugged into the modular section running the other.

...

Every month or so I check the couple of websites (showing BTC ATMs) as well as the Facebook page re the International Bitcoin group.

But, I am dismayed that these BTC ATMs (I saw "BTMs" written elsewhere, clever) do not appear anywhere near my city.

Maybe BTC is not catching on?  Or have they changed the rules FORCING showing ID?  (The one BTM I used in NYC required no ID).

How are BTC ATMs catching on (or not)?

They are catching on across the US I've noticed.  In my city they range from 10%-5% in fees. No ID for less than 2000. Awesome chart CoinATMRadar
171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many friends did you recommend bitcoin to? Did they accept it? on: September 07, 2015, 02:43:46 AM
since my office mates love to play games on their smart phones, I introduced them to an app/game that pays in bitcoin. some liked it, some don't but they just want to play the game not to earn bitcoins or know something about bitcoins

How do you make bitcoins playing a game on your phone?  What is the best game?  Thanks!
172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many friends did you recommend bitcoin to? Did they accept it? on: September 07, 2015, 02:42:34 AM
I have recommended bitcoin to about four friends.  Only one of them has started using it.  Two of the others had already been burned before when the price was higher I think.
173  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you buy physical gold? on: September 07, 2015, 02:32:15 AM
I buy all gold from bitgold clients

What are "bitgold" clients?  I have never heard the term before.  I looked it up but I don't understand.  How do you make money.  Thanks.
174  Other / Off-topic / Re: What you do with BITCOIN ? on: September 07, 2015, 02:30:53 AM
What you do with BTC

Where you spend?

Where you sell BTC ?

Where you buy BTC ?

I only sell BTC when I think it is overvalued or if I'm going to buy something on Amazon through Purse.

I sell BTC through an exchange.

I buy it through the same exchange I sell.  I have accounts on multiple exchanges though for speculating and arbitrage.

177  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your favorite color? on: September 07, 2015, 01:55:41 AM
I like Blue. It's a really nice color. I remember back then when I was a kid, I really like blue because it's the color of Stitch.

Blue is a great color.  That is my favorite color too.  A lot of people say blue is their favorite color.

179  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The future of mining bitcoins for profit? on: September 07, 2015, 01:50:12 AM
What about the halving coming up?  How is that going to affect the profitability of mining?

It's something everyone can see coming, meaning rational people will adapt slowly before it hits.
Price may rise, difficultly might go down, more efficient/cheaper hardware is being developed.

So is it a bad time to buy old hardware?  Do you think the value of S3's for example are about to plummet?

S3's are getting very old. If your electricity is free or very cheap, anything can be good though. I still mine with my S1.

Thanks, do you think if I buy some used S3s right now they will last for another year or two?  Will they still be worth anything?
180  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is Becoming a Global Currency on: September 07, 2015, 01:44:08 AM
Bitcoin is already a global currency in the terms of cryptocurrencies. Agreed.

USD is the only global currency atm tho.

LOL, Bitcoin can't replace USD, Bitcoin still a baby. i'm not sure Bitcoin can be a real global currency, it's just alt currency but it will big and will be a global alternative currency. the fact is there are still a lot people still choose a paypal than bitcoin, it's prove if Bitcoin can't replace fiat, but it became a global alternative currency.

Bitcoin is a baby but it has started to walk Tongue , i see especially my friends time by time are more interested about bitcoin but as anyone are afraid to invest because of decline. Fiat has it own place and can't be replaced by bitcoin but online bitcoin is competitive.

That is the point, still need some problem which should to solved(block size i means Tongue).
people afraid to invest is because bitcoin price is volatile with significantly, bit for who believe to bitcoin they will haven't doubt.

I`m just more worried on the bitcoin split.

And since most common users only know one wallet or the normal person coming to bitcoin will have a hard time what the 2 differences are lol.

What is the bitcoin split?
