1  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Wrong tx number and balance for imported address on: November 15, 2022, 10:24:53 AM
Thanks for all your answers.

@khaled0111: Yes, Pmalek is correct. The reason for the German "[imported, nur lesen]" in the screenshot is that it's a watch-only wallet, that is, I imported the address without providing the corresponding private key.

@Abdussamad, @nc50lc: I just created a Github issue. See here: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues/8067
2  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Wrong tx number and balance for imported address on: November 14, 2022, 10:27:27 AM
Hi nc50lc, thanks for the clarification.
So, it's not Electrum which can't handle the many transactions, but it's the servers which aren't willing to provide a history that long, correct?
But still, I would have expected that Electrum let's the user know that there is a problem and, therefore, the shown values can't be trusted. Instead, as shown in the screenshot of my last post, everything seems to be fine from the GUI user's perspective (green ball in the lower right corner and no error message).

Yes, it takes pretty long to synchronize. But it finally finishes synchronizing. And then it shows wrong values and no warning whatsoever that the shown values might be wrong.
4  Bitcoin / Electrum / Wrong tx number and balance for imported address on: November 13, 2022, 02:56:54 PM
I use Electrum 4.3.2 in Windows 10 and imported the address bc1q4c8n5t00jmj8temxdgcc3t32nkg2wjwz24lywv
Electrum shows me 0 transactions and 0 balance for this address, while https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/bc1q4c8n5t00jmj8temxdgcc3t32nkg2wjwz24lywv shows 31,047 transactions and a final balance of 8556.92711380.
Why does Electrum have problems with this address?

Just wanted to make everybody aware that Poloniex, the exchange affiliated with Tron and Justin Sun, is actively scamming its customers. See here for details: https://hjalmarpeters.medium.com/how-poloniex-enriches-itself-by-screwing-its-customers-2002b61dced0
6  Economy / Exchanges / How Poloniex Enriches itself by Screwing its Customers on: May 06, 2021, 09:02:12 PM
Just published: https://medium.com/@HjalmarPeters/how-poloniex-enriches-itself-by-screwing-its-customers-2002b61dced0

"Conclusion:
Poloniex takes the ETC of its customers hostage in order to generate artificial low prices at its domestic markets. It then buys cheap ETC at its own markets and resells them on other cryptocurrency exchanges at the regular, higher price. Yesterday (May 5) alone, Poloniex netted at least half a million USD this way. This profit comes at the expense of Poloniex’s customers."

Poloniex does not only socialize losses but also actively enriches itself on the expense of its customers:

I just read this announcement from Bitfinex: https://www.bitfinex.com/posts/465
Why is there such a big announcement only because some crypto hedge fund is using Bitfinex? Is this hedgefund more involved with Bitfinex than just being a customer so that this announcement is actually relevant to other Bitfinex clients (e.g. regarding risk assessment)?
I noticed from the anouncement that both, this hedge fund and Bitfinex, are tied to Deltec (the Bahamans-based bank providing banking service to Tether).

If you are an ANC whale, then please read the below!

According to the current roadmap ANC will transition to I2Cash: https://github.com/I2Cash/docs/blob/master/FAQ.md
I2Cash will be a cryptocurrency without a blockchain that nevertheless is supposed to get by without trusted third party. Personally, I am sceptical as to whether I2Cash will manage to solve the double-spend problem and reach consensus without blockchain. (After all, blockchain tech is there for a reason..)
The important thing to note with regard to the following, however, is that after this transition, the current ANC chain and the Anoncoin brand will be vacant.

Today I came across the following article: https://www.coindesk.com/starkware-6million-startup-funding-zkstarks/
These guys offer to implement zk-stark technology into a crypto currency in exchange for tokens. Now, wouldn't that be a perfect fit?
Anoncoin offers a great name and an old chain with a focus on anonymity (such as I2P integration) from its inception. The only thing that was ever missing was the tech to anonymize transactions such as RSA UFOs or similar. On the other hand there are these guys which are looking for a coin to include their anonymity tech.
So, how about coming up with a decent percentage of ANC's total coin supply and offer this percentage in exchange for implementing zk-starks? After all, there's nothing to lose since, as mentioned above, the current Anoncoin will be vacant in the near future.

While I'm not a whale, in order to make the first step, I pledge 3000 ANC for this purpose.

12  Economy / Exchanges / Re: **CEX.IO Bitcoin Exchange ** Buy Bitcoins with Cards in iOS / Android App*** on: January 11, 2018, 06:57:48 AM
Anyone from CEX around here? A couple of days ago I have asked for a bank transfer withdrawal for quite a big amount but I'm started to get concerned with all the bad advertising you have on internet and the time it will take to get processed.... (on other exchanges I get my money back after 1 to 3 days generally) but it seems I'll have to wait forever here as people speak about a month  Shocked Shocked Shocked wtf.... How can you guys suck so much? It's not complicated to automate payment processing... I understand you might be massively understaffed and I feel sorry for you guys who have to go through all that mess. Pretty sure the management of your company is too retarded and cheap to realize you are just on the way to lose all your clients with this bad publicity.... If you don't fix all these issues ASAP you'll just go out of business in 6 months (I hope I'll have my money bad that time though) while the industry you are working in is exploding.... Great job!!!!
In any case I was just wondering if it is possible to cancel a bank transfer payment (not with a 1 month delay of course otherwise I'll just wait for my payment) since I'm just thinking to go to my bank and ask for a visa card to try withdrawing through visa it might be much faster.
I don't see any option to cancel my "forever" pending withdrawal request. Worst case I'll just get out with crypto... of course provided you pay enough fees for people to be able to get their transactions verified. I mean wtf are you doing as well with paying ridiculous fees so that crypto get stuck in the blockchain forever....
Anyways I hope I can get at least an answer that someone is looking at my issue since I'm not the kind of patient guy nor the kind of person who let it go. I got my lawyer on the phone today and he is ready to work whenever I tell him to.

Seriously I'm not angry at the poor support guys that might be working days and night but your bosses are just a bunch of fucking cheap d...ks.

number one, you can't cancel the withdraw request
number two, this is not a problem of the bank to bank transfer, it's only their internal processing time
number three, request is in pending because they are understaffed as you said and all withdrawals are going through some manual check procedure which takes a couple of days for the huge number of withdrawal requests they get every day
number four, it seems the delay for processing withdrawals is increasing, that means they get everyday more requests they can possibly process every day
number five, same situation here, expecting withdrawal to update from "pending" since Jan 5th. while previous withdrawals were processed after 48h and previously than that in 24h - while now it's already 3 full working days and no change ...
number six, they've always paid sooner or later, at least in my case, so don't worry too much, you'll get the money at the end
number seven, they promised they are working on this bottleneck situation/process and we'll see an improvement soon - I hope so because I'm not even worried anymore for my money but annoyed I can't do business faster because of their issues
number eight, I could go over and over with cex problems but I still consider they are honest in some way, not willing to scam anyone, but very very... extremely not organised and overwhelmed with the growth of the industry

good luck ...

ARTHurt, doyou have an idea what will happen to my btc?

https://blockchain.info/tx/7a9532803a68c995de2d1b269f765bccc61253cc27930a216ac0dea4d66baa93

If you're in control of the target address (i.e. if you didn't withdraw to e.g. another exchange) and if you need the coins urgently, you can bump up the fees yourself with a CPFP transaction (child pays for parent). I did this a few times myself when CEX didn't pay enough fees. However, with such a mega transaction as in your case, significantly bumping up the fees becomes really expensive..  .. I'm not sure whether this behaviour from CEX is stinginess or plain incompetence..

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: November 27, 2017, 02:18:47 AM
This is a short announcement on behalf of me, Meeh and a couple of friends who would like to work on the AnonCoin project.

TLDR;
Meeh and some other developers have started active development on Anoncoin. A new release expected in December. We have a Slack, talk with us here: https://join.slack.com/t/anoncoin/shared_invite/enQtMjU3Njk3MjE3MjM1LTAwZjU5ZmEzYTc0ZTg3ZDkxMGYyY2NlNWFkZGVmOTg1MGJlNTIzOTIxZDQ1YjI4NjFkM2NkZjU5Zjg1YzQ2OTQ

Intro.
Meeh started the project years ago, I've been around and following crypto for a few years. We've been talking about it for a while, but recently we decided to get together with a few more developers to work on Anoncoin again.

The blockchain is running, people are mining, but there has not been any activity on the git repo since June 19. After the delisting on BTC38 trading volume has been very low.

Community.
We would really like to revive the project and hope to see support from the community. There have been lots of people with valuable contributions over the years. Thanks to everyone, and especially the people who have kept the project alive for the last few years!

We will be active on both slack and IRC2P moving forwards. Hopefully, we can also manage to bring the Anoncoin Reddit back to life, it's a good place for new people to learn about the project. A new website is also being worked on.

All of this is suggestions and ideas. We want to hear from everyone with an interest in Anoncoin what they would like to see. We really want to see this project succeed and believe there is a huge potential, especially at this time with Bitcoin making new ATHs over and over and media is writing about cryptocurrencies constantly.

Goals.
In the coming 2 months, we would like to update the current codebase. We are planning to use the Actor Framework. The actor model has advantages with simpler scalability and concurrency. The goal is to have a new release ready in December.

For 2018 we have big plans that we would like to discuss with the community. We would like a new codebase, possibly based on CryptoNote instead of ZeroCoin. We would also like a more egalitarian PoW mining algorithm.

We will write in more detail about development goals in a roadmap soon, but it would be really good to hear what people think first. Talk with us on Slack here: https://join.slack.com/t/anoncoin/shared_invite/enQtMjU3Njk3MjE3MjM1LTAwZjU5ZmEzYTc0ZTg3ZDkxMGYyY2NlNWFkZGVmOTg1MGJlNTIzOTIxZDQ1YjI4NjFkM2NkZjU5Zjg1YzQ2OTQ

We are also at #anoncoin-dev on IRC2P.

is this not a correct sig?

No, I don't think so. Did you check the signature and are of the opinion that it is valid?

Form bfx_drew, who works at Bitfinex:

"Couple new things at Bitfinex:

1. Individual users can now access USD wires for deposits and withdrawals
2. Euro wires added for both corporate and individual accounts
3. First Euro trading pair, /t/BTC:EUR (https://www.bitfinex.com/t/BTC:EUR), now live."

Seems like they found a few banks for now, the EUR one seems to be a small bank in Poland.

Are the EUR transfers done via SEPA? What fees do they charge?

Holy Crap!

so they have basically scammed me now??? Good thing I notice this already, after only like 10 trades I have done with them.... (and larger ones too....)

 Embarrassed Shocked Shocked Shocked

I wouldn't call that scamming. Their margin trading facility is not intended to deliberately cheat on customers; it's simply a "quick and dirty" hack, with all the bugs and shortcomings that belong to it. Simply don't use it.
19  Economy / Exchanges / Re: **CEX.IO Bitcoin Exchange ** Buy Bitcoins with Cards in iOS / Android App*** on: November 02, 2017, 09:08:09 PM
Any plans to make margin trading finally a bit useful at cex ?
I mean currently you can only close the whole position at once (1) and only at market price (2). This is absolutely horrible and every sane exchange would forbid every user to do such a rubbish Cheesy So margin trading is in fact just dangerous and not any benefit to anyone yet.

yeah I agree, those two things are pretty annoying.

Also I am having trouble understanding how the profit/loss from margin trading is calculated. Maybe somebody here can help me, I just closed a small position:

Code:
Position # Open date 	      Close dat     Type   Leverage Amount 	     Margin 	      Open price Close price     Stop loss Fee P/L
         32323  2017-11-02 17:03:54 2017-11-02 20:08:57 Short 3 855.48 EUR  285.16 EUR     6110.5710 6074.6781    8512.2647 0.58 2.77 EUR

it was a 3:1 margin position, 0.14BTC short.

When I calculate this the profit is: (6110.571-6074.6781)*0.14 - 0.58 = 4.45

Then WHYYYY does it say profit: 2.77

I think I am going cazy.....

This is a bug with CEX.IOs margin trading facility. The amount of the resulting trading position is not only wrong, it even depends on the leverage you choose. For example, if you open a short position of 3 ETH with leverage 3, then only 2 ETH are sold; with leverage 2, it would be only 1.5 ETH.
I reported this bug on 7th of April to CEX.IO. However, the support was incompetent and insisted that this is desired behaviour. Since CEX.IO's margin trading facility isn't usable anyway, I didn't bother to educate them and let it go.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 18, 2017, 07:39:02 PM
Cryptoslave has not been active on this thread since July 10, 2017, 09:48:55 PM.

Is he the main developer of this project?

If this coin needs MAJOR DEVELOPMENT, then it is better to leave it alone at NOVAEXCHANGE, because too many exchanges at this premature stage will only make it difficult to upgrade the Network in the future.

PLEASE STAY WELL AWAY FROM YOBIT !!!  Wink

The only major development ANC needs at the moment is the integration of the zerocoin protocol. Cryptoslave has updated the desktop and portable wallets and the network explorer. I2P is also working well, therefore, if zerocoin works, we could have one of the best anonymous coins in the market.

Let the zerocoin protocol developers come around, so that we can all reach an agreement.
There was discussion with them. They preferred the insecure and centralized variant...

Could you please specify when the discussion took place, who participated with the discussion and what variants have been discussed. Thanks.
