Agreed on step by step - you're doing good work and things're looking very positive.
Thoughts;
If the network of servers is external to the coin;
- The coin is not a tool to pay for VPN servers and they are not linked to the coin; the coin loses its intrinsic value as a means of payment for VPN service
- The VPN function of the coin may not always exist as long as the coin does - having this function created by the network internalizes the service and creates user trust that it will exist as long as the coin/wallet does
- Third parties lose the incentive to become involved in the coin by operating master nodes/servers and collecting fees - affects userbase incentive/interest
I totally agree on making it easy/simple - that is powerful. If you could satisfy that objective while also creating the ability to make nodes/servers in an easy to setup fashion you'd really have something.
Agree, plus what if these open servers go offline? It will be hassle for an end-user to try servers in the list one-by-one. We somehow should link VPN service to this coin. You guys raise good points. I get it that people will want rewards from running servers/masternodes/etc. I pledged my actions with WARP to be focused on usability - this means keeping things simple enough for every kind of end user. That is the priority, the first focus. After that we can speculate or brainstorm what could come next. The questions whether the VPN feature in-wallet holds any intrinsic value... Well, it will. For now it will run ungoverned, but the point is to have it controlled via time vs balance. Wallet balance will dictate what VPN air time would be available. This will work directly related to the financial side, however, no coins will be spent. The balance would just be locked for the VPN air time, which encourages users to keep their coins. The VPN service itself will be free: there's no way I can charge people for using public servers. If servers go offline that won't be an issue. Everytime you visit VPN tab the server list is updated. Nice to see good thoughts around here. I encourage everyone else to give their ideas and recommendations. We're adding a connection status icon later today and updating the config vpn files, so that a connection is established. Here's another current screenshot:  |

The servers are not hardcoded. They will be read from an online API, that reads from an extensive server list. You will be able to connect to your own server too, if you can provide a working conf file. There are no plans at the moment to offer yourself as a server. I made a commitment about simple usage and simple features. Providing yourself as a server is - for now - inconsequent. But keep in mind this is the very very first beta. A lot of input will be considered. But anything that it is too complicated for the end user will not be part of the plan. So are you going to be controlling the VPN servers? Would it not make more sense to have a master node type service that people could set up and collect fees from, similar to darksend? This would make it distributed and presumably somewhat anonymous. I won't be controlling the servers. They belong to an open network of users. Let's go step by step, eventually more features will be added, yet always keeping in mind to make it simple enough for any user. |

 This is the very first beta look of the VPN dialog. SIMPLE! Server list is not included. A few more details might come. Dev is fixing last changes. I will review the source code tonight and compile it by myself. When it goes well, the 5 people that volunteered for testing will be called  Source code won't be revealed until late in the game. Only binaries. I think one week is a fair timeline for the first official beta launch. |

Claiming scam is such an old knee-jerk reaction nowadays. Believe me - I would know - I have been scammed so many times in this cryptoworld. With that said it is not fair to call WARP a scam. The dev "Shapetwist" has been nothing but forthcoming with us. He answers all questions promptly and lays out a general time frame without over-promising and under-delivering. I have not once had a feeling of scam. Whomever reads this please do your own due diligence before listening to the ramblings of someone who probably doesn't even hold WARP.

I feel very humbled. Your post makes me happy. I've started WARP as a fight, as a battle against shitcoins/scamcoins. Fortunately I was aware of the right features to develop, so it could offer an edge over other new coins. We currently stand on the said development, and the road will be a long one, but I am as confident as before - just a little bit more happy, knowing said features are about to become a reality. For the people that were scammed before, like you, I am happy that you are part of this. It will help you restore your faith in good projects, run by competent people. I was hoping for the new wallet testing, but my dev is currently away. Any news I get, I'll promptly publish. Regards. |

I saw a lot of ugly posts, mean words and attempts of FUD and trolling. My reaction to this is to protect myself the best I can. Fortunately, the forum mods were on top of it, deleting anything that is against the rules. And to think that I was happy before that our thread was so nice and clean... This was bound to happen.
BigCat45 had some questions about development in a post I can't find anymore. What do you want me to present? Vaporware? Thin air on a silver plate? I'm working as hard as before to bring what I presented. Not sure what you guys constantly need to hear in order not to freak out. The fact that I am preparing since August doesn't mean that it makes it easier to finish app integration sooner. Talk to any c++ programmer and ask how hard it is to achieve something like I propose.
Some other people questioned about the cold wallet funds and why were they moved. You should know how a wallet works, with multiple addresses. That's why I removed the initial address from OP, since funds are allocated to numerous other addresses when transactions are made. And well, I had a very important meeting yesterday, as some of you know. And money makes things happen. I'm using USD and EUR to pay developers, and I'm not showing anybody proof of my bank records. Deal with it. Take it as you will, but you should see it as a good sign.
I have not moved 1 inch from my plan. You like to create stories and drama, that's up to you. Price means zero to me at the moment. If you want soap operas, go somewhere else. I'm here to finish what I started.
