201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jonathan Ryan Owens locked Rebate, Zip.A, Alberto & BDT thread on: August 17, 2012, 01:50:18 AM
Charlie,

Any comment or knowledge on whether funds were mixed to help launch that bitcoin/tech incubator building project?

My main concern is how this affects people's attitudes towards putting Bitcoins into GLBSE listings, of which I have one. Hopefully it gets resolved relatively amicably for investors.

I really don't think it should be up to the investors to figure out what percentage of blame lies where.

If you're making significant profits from bitcoins I'd suggest consulting a tax specialist.
203  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Jered Kenna - give my mate his btc back on: August 16, 2012, 12:25:04 AM
Thanks bad bear. My mate emailed info@tradehill.com address several weeks ago but no response.

Granted, we don't know if that statement is true. But it does seem like contacting him is hit or miss, which could just mean he is a very busy person.
204  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bitcoinica Consultancy abandons customers. Bitcoinica to enter Liquidation on: August 15, 2012, 09:51:38 PM
Funny thing is, steal enough actual monopoly money and legal consequences might follow. The surprising thing to me is how many people seem to think virtual items are still completely nebulous to legal principles.

A lot of multi-rail PSUs don't spend the money to properly label the cables. Which makes load balancing that much more of a chore. Nothing wrong with a decent well marked multi-rail that doesn't dedicate more than 20A to the CPU+Mobo.

multirail bad choice. good luck load balancing without trigger overcurrent protection...

Each of those 20A rails can still give out 240W. Those 24A rails are upwards of 280W. I don't see why multi rail is such a bad thing (as long as it's set up properly).
206  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Diablo Mining Company (DMC) [8.7 gh] [2.926 mh/share] on: August 14, 2012, 11:28:03 AM
Um, am I the only one who remembers that the ASIC offerings are for future output. Unless someone has ASIC hashing running at the up until now theoretical rates and I've just missed the news item. Edit: Otherwise, arguing it is devaluing current DMC value is a bit of a stretch.

In regards to DMC, it's operating as a company and not a bond so changes in structure and operation are within the bounds of expected outcomes.
207  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Introducing: Bitcoin Syndicate, a new mining op trading publicly! on: August 13, 2012, 06:55:08 PM
Any status updates? Dividends from remaining hashing power? Properly redacted police report regarding MTGox theft?
208  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Payout Updates] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: August 05, 2012, 03:52:28 AM
Why harp on people who say he's 100% guilty, just as useless as trashing the people who say he is 100% innocent? I'm in the "seems pretty flimsy" camp and Bitcoinica should have been wound up in NZ more than a month ago, haven't heard a good argument for why I should change stances.

And what about the people who are convinced that you were the one that did it and will do as much as they can to damage you, your family and your career off of the forums?

This reasoning is completely out of context since your hypothesis did not occurred in the case of the user Zhou Tong.

So please, you and other users, stop with the emotional arguments.

I disagree that it's a plea to anyone's emotions. I can only speak for myself but you wouldn't hear any arguments from me (emotional or otherwise) if others wouldn't make arguments stating as absolute fact that he's guilty.

If it's a name brand supply, they may be willing to replace some of the hardware that went with it. Much like how UPS and surge protector companies have insurance to cover the rare spectacular failure. No guarantees though, just like with other insurance it can be a pain to get any payout.
210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't let the news of hacks and bitcoin thefts+losses get you down on: August 04, 2012, 03:17:36 AM
Have to love these forums. How did my thread descend into an argument about an IRC trading system?

Derailing seems to be Rarity's main motivation, imo.

Having a laugh at a few of you: "Hey guys Zhou is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law." "AURUMXCHANGE IS GUILTY OF VIOLATING ZHOU'S PRIVACY, GRRRR, GNASHING OF TEETH! EVERYONE LOOK OVER HERE, ZHOU'S PRIVACY IS BEING VIOLATED!"

roflmao over here

This is why I suggest any business include an out that says "in case of customer complaints, any and all factual information not restricted by law will be used to defend the character of this business." Also don't forget to include an anti-class action clause for US residents and a binding arbitration clause.

Haha, oh excuse me still thinking about how people who say "maybe Zhou is a victim of a multi-millionaire Chinese relic collector, we need to keep our minds open. Oh and also not question why he would associate with such an individual in the first place. Nor ask why he would re-use a password on this Relic Hunter's webstore knowing he was a shady character with intimate knowledge of credit card fraud. Nope, just place INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY in place of those questions and also respect his privacy."

213  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: In support of genjix on: August 03, 2012, 03:45:20 PM
Most people owed were pretty calm for the first month or so.  I have some sympathy for the Consultancy people because they were in a tight spot legally. If they officially wind up the company in NZ, as Tihan is attempting to do, the partners of the company will be the focus of attention. But they also helped get themselves into this unenviable position, they "took the bait" so to speak.

There are some upsides though, thanks to this whole fiasco I will always keep in the back of my mind "Insist on offline physical copies of all information and code before accepting legal responsibility."

Thumb down for not running the numbers before accepting. Thumb up for admitting it publicly and giving first preference to original offerer.

Ah, glad I posted then so you had a chance to make your meaning clear.
216  Economy / Securities / Re: (FEEDBACK WANTED) 100% Insured PPT bond (GLBSE) on: August 02, 2012, 05:02:27 PM

Pirate has said he thinks this will last 6 more months and as a Trust account I will not be at risk to have funds pushed out.

Interesting information, you'd probably want to launch this in the next couple of weeks then.

Yes, brand and 12V rail rating is important for determining how likely it is to work out well.

Looking forward to your update. Could be a great replacement to the GD70.

+1

"Damn you AMD you designed it to be MORE stable for overclocking but now I have to use these 8 pin to 2x6 pin adapters, YOU BASTARDS!"

It's a three group multiphase power regulation...

Not for MORE power, for better power, these chips will clock like crazy. The voltage input on these chips will be very stable.
