1  Other / Off-topic / Re: Smoking on: September 18, 2022, 07:29:13 PM
Let's see: at least one in four smokers will die from cancer caused by smoking, and these are not only various types of lung cancer, at least 80% of which are caused by smoking, but also to a greater or lesser extent: laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma, esophageal adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, pancreatic ductal carcinoma, gastric adenocarcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma and some others, the connection to which has not yet been proven. At the same time, smokers still have an average population risk of dying from cancer of about 10%. Therefore, roughly added, the risk of death from cancer for a person who smokes for more than 10 years (on average, a pack of cigarettes per day) is about 35-40%.

https://www.cancer.org/healthy/stay-away-from-tobacco/health-risks-of-tobacco/health-risks-of-smoking-tobacco.html

It is also worth remembering that chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema, various ischemic pathologies are almost guaranteed.

However, all this harm is not due to nicotine, in the first place, which by itself can even reduce the risk of certain diseases, such as Parkinson's disease (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-88910-4), but due to tobacco combustion products, such as benzopyrene, benzanthracene, acetaldehyde, and others.
This all leads to the fact that 50% of smokers die prematurely and, mostly painfully, due to the consequences of smoking.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2928221/

Well, people who say that they smoke all their lives and everything is fine, you are just lucky to be not in these 50%, but this is a lottery, not a pattern.

If you are looking for social security, one of the best health care systems in the world and just a quiet carefree life, then it is Germany, of course.
3  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Corruption ok on: September 18, 2022, 04:14:53 PM
Corruption is venom. However, on the basis of snake venom, for instance, antiplatelet drugs can be created, which are of great value in thrombotic cardiovascular events. Even something absolutely terrible and abnormal can find positive aspects of application in an extreme situation.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥶 Winter Beijin 2022 🥶 Discussion and bet thread 🥶 Winter Game 🥶 on: August 28, 2021, 09:47:17 PM
Yess, finally! I'm much more fond of the Winter Olympics than Summer. I'm actually surprised that the Games will take place, considering that the pandemic still isn't over, and with delta spreading, who knows what will be in China in winter? But in any case, I'm really looking forward to it. My favorites are figure skating, freestyle skiing, cross-country skiing, and, of course, ski jumping.

I wonder who's going to nail it this year: the US, Norway, Germany, or maybe Russia?
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Cryptocurrencies on: August 28, 2021, 09:20:54 PM
Why would you even assume that a type of cryptocurrency plays any role in this? It can be Bitcoin, Ethereum, or even dollars, doesn't matter. Only if the website's rigged or there is a bug of some kind, but even then that's highly unlikely. I switched from Bitcoin to LTC for lower transaction fees, but that was the only reason.
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An alternative to Poker on: August 28, 2021, 08:35:04 PM
The only game that can be an alternative for poker is Preferans, Remi or some variations of Bridge (I know some)... cards game where you play against other people, and you need to know how to play your cards in the best way... these games include thinking, with good players a lot of thinking! I wouldn't dare to compare these cards games with dice games of any sort!
I'd say that bridge is more luck-based as compared to poker. For long it's been considered that poker is about 50-60% skill, but recently I've seen this number going up as high as 80% in discussions, some even say that in the long run, it's a pure skill.

Bridge, on the contrary, largely depends on the cards you get during the game, what I've found playing bridge P2P is that, at some point, after me and the other player getting to know all the rules and tricks, acquiring some necessary skills we win approximately 50/50, and it all depends on cards.
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best Sports Gambling Websites on: August 28, 2021, 07:39:12 PM
Never had a problem with Stake.com from the start up until now. It's not just because I am wearing their signature but because I also gamble there.
I also liked Stake for quite some time, Stake and Sportsbet were my top choices, but then I switched completely to Sportsbet because I like it more for features and design. But recently I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews on Stake, especially regarding withdrawal and support, are those fake? Have you experienced anything like that lately?
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Addict on: August 28, 2021, 07:04:55 PM
Theoretically, a person can get addicted to anything, from objects and people, to activities of any kind, like games, or shopping or even talking on the phone.

But what I can say for sure is that seeing Bitcoin logo with your eyes closed is totally not normal. I mean, I also see things that I’m into when I dedicate too much time to it, it’s how brain works. But if it’s on a regular basis, you should probably do something about it. Either take a break, or maybe even see a doctor.
9  Economy / Economics / Re: Bullish? Bankers Issue ‘Seismic’ Warning: crypto could replace USD in 5 years on: August 28, 2021, 12:12:30 PM
I don’t think it’s a warning, more of realising the inevitable and a well known fear of missing out. The only question is: what are the banks going to do about it? How are they willing to adopt cryptocurrencies if the whole point of them is to function without a third party, such as banks themselves.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google bans 8 crypto apps on: August 27, 2021, 11:51:35 PM
Are all cloud mining apps a scam though? Or just some of them, like the ones you've listed here? I realize that it might be unsafe and opens so many rooms for scammers that "rent out" hashing power, but can't that be legit sometimes? I don't see what's wrong with someone investing money in pool mining in exchange for a Bitcoin reward share.

Anyway, that got me thinking, is all those apps are scams, how did they wind up on Google Play in the first place? Shouldn't there have been an inspection of some kind?
11  Economy / Economics / Re: Cuba the next country to accept cryptocurrencies? on: August 27, 2021, 11:12:14 PM
That's great, hopefully, it will help Cuba to overcome the current difficulties they suffer due to the embargo. Also interesting to see how the Central Bank will regulate the future widespread use of cryptocurrencies. It can be clearly seen that the government intends to take full control of this use
Quote
The resolution says the Central Bank can authorize use of cryptocurrencies “for reasons of socioeconomic interest” but with the state assuring that their operations are controlled.
I wonder how will that be accomplished and will the government be willing to gove more freedom regarding everyday crypto use someday.
12  Economy / Gambling / Re: New Crash Gambling Website! betbitcoin247.io on: August 27, 2021, 09:39:18 PM
I checked the website, overall it leaves a good impression, provably fair is great, the interface is nice, not annoying as some websites are. However, there are several things I think you should consider improving.

First, since you only have one game, maybe consider making it a little more graphically entertaining, like add something that will move and crash instead of just having the line going up, add some effects, that would be more attractive.

And second, the more important thing, adjust the multiplying axle so that it would be easier to track how far up the line goes (maybe consider moving it to the right side).

Also, I tried to follow the links you provide on your website to social media, they don't seem to be working, try fixing that.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BLACKMAIL on: August 27, 2021, 08:51:07 PM
People say you don't have to worry about it if you haven't done anything wrong, but the fact is, even if you have there's absolutely nothing to worry about. It's just a lousy blackmailer that works by making people fear that some private info will be exposed, but that's most likely a bluff, they won't do anything, these scammers only say they would.

Think of the logic of a blackmailer: what's the point of doing any harm to you if they want to get money from you? If they do what they say they will - there would be nothing left they could manipulate you with, so it's only to scare you. The best option here is just ignoring, if they can't contact you - they can't reach and blackmail you. Don't give any response and that'll solve the problem.
14  Economy / Economics / Re: The UK's FCA and Binance talks break down on: August 27, 2021, 08:09:09 PM
There were a lot of talks regarding Binance being banned by the FCA for not meeting anti-money-laundering requirements. I guess it's the same old news, the only new information is that recently FCA presented more reasons for not allowing for Binance to operate in the UK.

I don't think that this can have any impact on Bitcoin, only on Binance. With failing to meet certain requirements they're being suppressed by the growing number of competitors each day.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling control on: August 27, 2021, 07:18:36 PM
I think people rarely overcome any of these attributes, it's actually often the opposite. The more you win - the bigger is the desire to play and win more, and if you lose - it often makes one chase losses and also want to play more. But that's what makes it interesting, there wouldn't be any fun without the emotional aspect involved now, would there?
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 61 year old plays the same numbers since 1991 and wins 18 millions on: August 26, 2021, 11:58:04 PM
For 18 million dollars? Yeah, I’d have the patience  Cheesy
Besides, it is easier when you realize that by playing the same number over and over you somewhat increase your chances of winning, as there’s a probability that a certain number will hit someday, but if you do different numbers, you risk missing that event. By doing the same all the time, on the other hand, you’ll never miss it. So if you follow this rule, breaking it and choosing another number would simply be irrational.
Yeah you do have the patience and the money to spent on tickets but do you have the time on going to those outlets on buying tickets on everyday basis or just few days of the week?
It might be simple as it looks but when you are a person who just been forced on doing bets because you've seen others been winning then it turns out for this activity to be boring.
Passion is indeed bad when dealing with gambling but you wont really make it that far if you arent really eager or dedicated on what you do have to reach on something thats
 in your mind.
It's not necessarily boring, as some may think. On the contrary, many people, especially the elderly, are people of habits, they may even enjoy such routine. I know quite a few people that buy lottery tickets on a daily basis, but just for fun, they don't even expect to win anything, but the whole process of doing it has become a tradition and it's their way to cheer up.
Though I haven't seen anyone doing the exact same number, that shows real devotion and deserves respect.
17  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto is not limited till buying Bitcoins, it is beyond this. on: August 26, 2021, 11:29:06 PM
It's not that simple with the examples you've listed here. NFTs can be very unpredictable, I think you need more luck to make money with NFTs than with regular cryptocurrencies. There's such a wide range of them and it's really hard to predict what will set the trend.

P2E requires skills, which many don't have, and it's pretty competitive so one would need to dedicate a lot of time to make money out of it.

But I'll agree with you about DeFi tokens, they can bring good profit and I wouldn't say it's more dangerous than investing in crypto, and this train hasn't left the station yet.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Esport Gambling with Crypto. on: August 26, 2021, 10:57:32 PM
Dota and WoW have been popular amongst teens and young people for as long as I can remember, so considering that eSports betting has existed for a long time already, I think the number of involved players we see now is at its peak. Moreover, it seems to me that these games are becoming even less popular these days than it was before. At least that's what I've seen, maybe I'm wrong about this.
19  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think financial stability is mandatory to be a gainer in Bitcoin invest? on: August 26, 2021, 10:10:29 PM
Not mandatory, but I'd say a very desired feature. I myself have been into situations when I'd sell my crypto because I needed money, even though that was extremely unprofitable, plus the fees were high. I knew that wasn't time to sell and I wouldn't have done so if I was financially secured otherwise.

I've learned my lesson and now I only buy when I'm confident that in the nearest future I won't need that money and won't have to sell.

Nevertheless, one can make a profit from short-term returns with alts, or daily trading, I don't think financial stability plays such a big role in these cases.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My friend got arrested in a p2p scam on: August 26, 2021, 09:05:50 PM
And to think that people say cryptocurrencies are unsafe... In this particular story, the flaw was on the bank's side, the scammer couldn't have pulled this off with crypto. But as I understand, in this case, the bank transfer was part of the deal and this couldn't have been done otherwise.

And I guess there are two sides to the same coin with KYC. On the one hand, you can choose options with no KYC and stay anonymous, on the other - be prepared for scammers like this one, that take advantage of it.
