521  Economy / Service Discussion / (old coinchat unban appeal, for reference) on: July 09, 2013, 04:26:07 PM
Edit: I should mention that I've found a lot of bugs with this site. In fact, I've even found one now. (Can't PM TF about it!)
My reasons for being unbanned: (edit2)
  • Yes, I was annoying, but I didn't cause any long-term harm.
  • I've done the most things for CoinChat: creating bots, reporting bugs, etc.
  • TradeFortress hasn't even bothered responding to anything I've said.
  • I've never scammed anyone, DDoS'd CoinChat, or done anything of the sort.

This post is about CoinChat.
CoinChat is a chatroom with rewards for chatting, made by TradeFortress.

The story of whiskers75, CoinChat, WhiskChat, WhiskDiceBot and all his alts
Our story starts back in the old days when CoinChat was just starting.
I was trying to make it run without crashing, and ended up learning a lot.
In my experiments, I found I could spawn in mBTC, and reported this to TradeFortress, who fixed the bug.
TradeFortress had the idea of someone coding a bot, and I liked it.
So WhiskDiceBot (a clone of SatoshiDice) was born.
Note! The incredibly-popular bot, moobot, was NOT the first bot on the scene. Mine was!
Later, I had the idea of making a fun little custom client, which was named WhiskChat.
The bot and client grew and grew.
Let's fast forward to why I was banned.
I was first demodded (I had become a moderator) for muting everyone on the chat for 30 seconds because it was too crowded.
Then, I was banned for discovering a vulnerability and using it a few times to prove that I had indeed found it.
After some thought, TradeFortress sent me a PM saying I could be unbanned if I did not do this again.
I agreed, and hopped on the chat with an alternative account. Note that TradeFortress had not woken up yet, so did not unban me!
The moderators banned me.
Again, and again. (I ban evaded A LOT)
When TradeFortress FINALLY woke up, he was mad about me "ban" evading. As such, I was not unbanned.
So, I then continued to ban evade a lot, and finally I gave up.

Weeks later, I started ban evading again.
TradeFortress decided to unban me (again) and my bot.
Later, because I was hated by the community, I was banned again.

Now? I'm still ban evading, and still going strong, especially since the release of CoinChat v2.
TradeFortress has grown tired of my constant pleading via PM to get unbanned, and so I decided to release this to the public so you can decide on what I have done.

(Edit) Why am I banned again?

All my stuff is open source.

I don't have source code for moobot or the MooChat client, because there is none.

What's happening with this address during the las couple of days?

https://blockchain.info/address/1JwSSubhmg6iPtRjtyqhUYYH7bZg3Lfy1T?offset=0&filter=0
People have been spamming up the network with it. (I remember adding it to my wallet, and a few days later my whole wallet was filled with transations Smiley)

Welcome to Bitcointalk. Please mind the gap between the spam and the good stuff.
526  Other / Meta / Re: Userbase cleanup on: July 05, 2013, 01:41:33 PM
Oh gosh.
OFF TOPIC OFF TOPIC OFF TOPIC! Stop the trolling! This is "Userbase cleanup" not "Trolling Discussion"!

On topic:
Also put a notice in big letters on bitcointalk.org if an account is due for deletion.
527  Other / Meta / Re: Userbase cleanup on: July 04, 2013, 09:04:13 AM
* whiskers75 asks what on earth is going on in here?

There's a troll, which generated activity, supposed sockpuppets, exaggerated emoji: ":-)))))[snip]" (??), somebody bolding their whole post, SHOUTING and again, too many repeat characters: "!!!!!!!!" and "HuhHuh", the list goes on..

On topic:
Email the users' email, notifying them of deletion.
If they respond "no", or don't respond, delete them.
Only delete, as mentioned before, year-old users with no activity since registration.

The SolveMedia captcha which is either a standard captcha or an ad like:

"MasterCard Describe this brand with any word(s):"
532  Other / Meta / Check ignore? on: July 04, 2013, 07:01:37 AM
Is there a way to check if someone is ignoring your PMs?

533  Other / Meta / Re: Activity stuck at 126 on: July 03, 2013, 06:38:53 PM

534  Other / Meta / Re: Option: deleting colors/glow in signatures on: July 03, 2013, 06:34:19 PM
I'm not against. (Yes, it is annoying.)
Although turning off ALL glow isn't good, because some signatures actually use glow in a nice fashion.
Maybe remove glow of a specific font size?
535  Other / Meta / Re: Activity stuck at 126 on: July 03, 2013, 06:32:49 PM
Code:
if (post.message.indexOf('+1')) {
    post.remove()
}

There.
536  Other / Meta / Re: Option: deleting colors/glow in signatures on: July 03, 2013, 06:12:26 PM
Personally, the glow looks cool.
But you should have the option to do this for signatures yelling "BLAHCASINO.COM [tons of unicode] FREE ROLLS ETC [unicode] PLAY NOW!"
Edit: Glow should be like my signature - small, yet cool.
