Perhaps in a future release of the bitcoin client it might be a good idea to maintain an extra 100 or so pre-generated addresses in the wallet and just have the wallet grab one of these addresses (and generate a replacement) for change?
It does that.

On BTCcharts I'm seeing 2 buys above 12 that seem to go beyond the 10k btc askwall. How did that happen? Are they cases where Mr Manipulator removed his askwall, bought up coins and then put the wall back? Or is there some other explanation?
it is a mtgox bug. Or a feature, depending on how you look at it. Apparently, mtgox includes trades in other currencies and converts them to USD. That's weird, because when I look at the raw Mt Gox streaming data, I see that it contains the currency for each trade... I was watching the first spike to 12.04, and the wall went away for some minutes.

You can send the backup to a gmail account with two factor authentication enabled.
Are gmail accounts encrypted so google can't see inside? I guess they can read my mail. But they also need a keylogger on my machine to decrypt the backup.

They have some problems at the moment. Outgoing transactions are not relayed to the network.
You can make a json export of the transaction, but I don't know of any websites where you can paste the json export. Is there an easy way to convert the json export to a raw transaction we can paste at blockchain.info?

I say yes. This is nearly impossible. There are only 26 days until Thanksgiving, and we are still at block 198497 (11503 blocks remaining). To succeed, the average time per block needs to be less than 196 s, or slightly more than three minutes! If this were true, the difficulty would be 269 times what it is now by Thanksgiving. That is equivalent to almost 5.4 PHz·h (where h denotes one SHA256(SHA256(...)) hash) of network power. The four people who voted "yes" are insane! In US, it's November 22nd.

I've send question about this to gox support. Will let you know what's the answer.
So there's the respond: "It has been confirmed by our developer that this is real. " Wow. So did it ever end up on bitcoincharts' market depth chart? That chart hasn't updated in the last 24 hours

Why would a hacker or exchange operator sell a BTC for less than a BTC?

Let's speculate here about "fair" aka reasonable price of PPCoin. My guess -- 0.002 BTC per 1 PPC.
And what is your guess ?
My guess is that this should be posted under Alternate cryptocurrencies.
