Just a detail, now the data sent to the function is no longer a string with some json inside, but an object (it didn't make much sense to just send strings).
I didn't expect you'd have this implemented already, if you can just comment out the JSON.parse that'll fix everything.
Actually I was! I was just sitting here developing and I saw the messages change from strings to JSON!

Clearly we have a bunch of web developers and not enough web designers. it's not just Gox .. it's everyone... we run a bunch (as a whole) of sites that all have the refined look and feel of Drudge Report... yea it works.. but it's not even close to sexy. Lucky for you, I'm both a developer and a designer My soon-to-launch project is going to look very nice and provide great functionality.

I am a long time user of Clark Moody's site. I'm a day trader and looking for something that is working now. I know MtGox is having issues with websockets but wanted to know if there is something else out there that shows depth, orderbook and history.
So, what are you guys using?
Yeah it really hurts to depend on someone else for your data, when the data dries up... I'm working on a serious upgrade to my services at the moment, which will allow me to run my own WebSocket server.

This sounds good to me, especially as a source for press releases and public relations. The amount of misinformation and lazy reporting out there is hurting the reputation of Bitcoin.
I also agree with the point made about 'competing' representative entities.

hmm ... not so much ... 15:22:28 > WebSocket Closed 15:22:24 > Error loading depth of market data: 15:22:24 > parsererror 15:22:23 > Error loading depth of market data: 15:22:23 > parsererror 15:22:23 > Loading full depth of market table. 15:22:23 > WebSocket open to ws://websocket.mtgox.com/mtgox 15:22:23 > Opening WebSocket to ws://websocket.mtgox.com/mtgox 15:22:23 > Loading full depth of market table. 15:22:23 > WebSocket open to wss://websocket.mtgox.com/mtgox 15:22:22 > Opening WebSocket to wss://websocket.mtgox.com/mtgox
Right. MtGox is slacking on support for Chrome & Firefox (it uses an unsupported version of the WebSocket protocol). It works in Opera though.

Economy / Trading Discussion / Bitcoin-based Forex Grid and Multi-currency Ticker
|
on: October 25, 2011, 06:40:24 PM
|
I have launched a new service that gives the tickers for all MtGox currencies and computes a synthetic Forex grid based on those tickers. http://bitcoin.clarkmoody.com/ticker/The Forex grid lists the exchange rate between currencies based on buying Bitcoin with the "column" currency at the Ask and immediately selling those Bitcoin at the Bid for the "row" currency. The grid lists only those currency pairs with non-zero volume as listed on the ticker. Since the MtGox WebSocket broadcasts ticker & depth messages for USD only (at this point), this tool is polling-based. The update rate is every 60 seconds, and the cells will change colors based on changes in the value.
