2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who owns your Bitcoins? on: October 08, 2012, 12:30:18 AM
As we all know the Wild Satoshi can only be evolved by transfering it from a Pokemon Blue to Pearl game.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading Second Life Linden Dollars for Bitcoins on: October 08, 2012, 12:29:21 AM
It'd be easier for Linden to incorporate bitcoins into their system. Maybe we should start a mass petition. Not that I actually play Second Life but if they did this I'd give it another go.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What kinds of legitimate businesses accept BitCoin? on: October 08, 2012, 12:16:02 AM
Incorporating bitcoin into small and large businesses would be no harder or expensive than modern day credit cards.

Credit Cards and Machines require costs up front to setup and fee's to use for each transaction. This should cancel out bitcoin's conversion prices.

Credit card payments often remaining pending for 2-3 days until cleared. They can also be reversed, or obtained via fraudulent measures. Bitcoins on the other hand are instant. Once you have them there is no chance of reversal.

The constant fluxuations of bitcoins will probably stablize when the rate of minning and mass speculation comes to much more maneagable levels. Stores could easily add a automatic conversion tool to all prices. Even in places like Walmart I see many prices tags are now digital and update by a centralized computer.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Membergroups; or: Why do some users get colored coins under their names? on: October 07, 2012, 11:58:16 PM
I wouldn't mind a bitcoin donation to keep the forum alive but 50btc.... that's quite steep for most people.

They should have the whole 5 coins turn purple, and give you special customization options. Same with the 10btc donation.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Gresham's Law, Anyone? on: October 07, 2012, 11:43:09 PM
Bitcoins have doubled, then doubled again multiple times. I'm sure the trend will continue.

If we follow what's obvious, which that when bitcoins break through to mainstream the value will skyrocket (especially if real world currencies start collapsing due to enormous debt) then the logical thing to do is hold on to bitcoin and not spend a single cent worth.

But if we all did that then the value of bitcoin will drop to zero and no longer exist.

The situation is irony at it's best.
7  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: October 07, 2012, 11:26:07 PM
When the first threads on Butterflylabs started I was able to walk right up to the building.

Empty... No employees, nothing going on at all.

Then I witnessed one mega thread turn into 2-3 mega threads of people arguing and trying to figure it out.

It's exactly as the OP stated. If these machines existed then THEY WOULD NEVER SELL THEM.

Minning would be FAR MORE profitable and this company would take great strides to keep it a trade secret.

There is absolutely no advantage of flooding the market with these next generation minning machines that will make all current GPU minning obsolete - while not jumping on the bandwagon themselves.

These customers are extremely gullible. Just stop and think about it for 2 seconds.

It's literally as if they discovered a way to print free money, and instead of spending it themselves they sell it to you for 10% of the original price.

~~~~~~~~BIG OBVIOUS SCAM~~~~~~~~~
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Proposal: Hardware wallet (Win 3 BTC) on: October 07, 2012, 11:13:19 PM
I love the idea of having a futuristic kind of "Cred Stick" that constantly reflects your current balance, as well as different addresses, sending options, etc.
The device could also connect to WIfi or Cellphone Satellite data plans to remain online. This could make bitcoins even more convienant than using a debit/credit card, as you could walk into a shop, point your credit stick at the cash machine, and make a transfer.
Perhaps even sit down at a table, order your items, and set it on a scanner. No waitresses needed.
Unfortunately there are a ton of security flaws with this idea. But maybe someday a serious investor will come along and make it happen in a realistic manner.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do people update their wallet balances for paper wallets? on: October 07, 2012, 11:01:55 PM
So that's why Armory is so popular. Guess Ill start to generate a few of my own.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Selling my religion on: October 07, 2012, 09:58:53 PM
Some people have actually succeeded in this. One guy agreed to be paid for a pastor to take him out to lunch and have a "philosophical debate". But I think you have to sound sincere about it.
If certain religious groups, such as Christians actually believed in a eternal hell with extreme pain they would be much more focused on saving others.
Imagine if you saw a stranger trapped under a car, flesh being slowly burned away by the flames and would surely suffer and die without help. Nearly any sain person would rush to their aid as it makes us sick to see others in that condition.
But religious who pretend in these "punishments" don't really believe it, as much as they only feel a smug satisfaction of special treatment by a omnipotent being upon death.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Misuse of my wallet address on: October 07, 2012, 09:55:54 PM
In real life imagine if you carried around a wallet that had your social security number, drivers license, mother's maiden name, routing numbers all contained within it. You wouldn't just leave it around for other people to snatch.
Unfortunately the way Bitwallets are set up, other than being able to enter a encryption password (that can be stolen with a keylogger.) you have no choice but to have all that info in one bag.
But by using a Linux Live Boot CD to deal with bitcoin transfers, and keeping your wallet.dat file (rename it to something else.) on a offline usb drive, it becomes much safer.
I'm sure we'll see big security improvements in the future.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The infamous halving date!!! on: October 07, 2012, 09:53:05 PM
The real value of bitcoins will be in how readily it is accepted in mainstream transactions and bringing in fresh blood who previously did not know about it.
Discovery of new bitcoins cut in half will be a blow to botnets and super miners in general which should cause the value to be less associated with pure speculation.
I can't imagine this being anything but a good thing for the currency. Only thing that could stop it now is a massive security flaw being exploited, or the Government outright criminalization bitcoin - which would still survive for underground transactions but would be a heavy blow to the value.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading Greendot Moneypaks for BTC on: October 07, 2012, 09:49:43 PM
It's hard to find dependable anonomous cards to use. The vanilla gift cards actually show up "gift cards" when you try to use them, which makes them worthless, and now MOneypacks require you to enter a SS# before usage.
Such garbage. And yeah, I wouldn't trust a 1 post hit and run either.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is 70ºC too hot for a graphic card? on: October 07, 2012, 09:48:12 PM
I've got a excellent dual GPU's on my gaming laptop, keep it propped up with a extra fan blowing air underneath and it runs at about 70-72 which is pretty cool compared to the heat they are designed to put up with.
My hardware is fully insured otherwise I'd never even consider trying it.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOWTO: create a 100% secure wallet on: October 07, 2012, 09:46:29 PM
Yup, I'm a windows cunt that was finally convinced to switch over to a Linux Live CD after realizing how easy it would be for a hacker to steal all my stuff.
And in the process I realized that Linux isn't so user unfriendly after all, and am starting to use it for any important data like checking bank accounts, etc.
Basically only boot up Windows to play games and graphic programs now.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: October 07, 2012, 09:44:35 PM
I've been a lurker for bitcoins over a year now. Been interested in investing money and gaining assets but I missed the stock market bubble of the 90's, Gold boom of early 2000's, and still don't trust the stock market from all this debt rolling around.
But I do have faith in bitcoins to continue gaining value, especially as they begin to go mainstream.
