1  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-12-05]Eagle's Eye: Bitcoin to Stabilize Between $2,000 - $3,000, Experts S on: December 09, 2018, 12:29:23 PM
I think there's a pretty good chance to witness the prices below $3,000, because the bear market is not over yet, and it was always featuring some dramatic flash crashes, but this doesn't mean that $2,000-3,000 will become a new floor. Regardless, the current market is a great opportunity to buy for the next bull run, x10-x15 profits are awaiting those who will have strong hands to hodl for the rest of the bear market and sell near the top in next years.

$3000 should be the solid ground that bitcoin will start using to climb higher and higher. I believe bitcoin can recover since it always did. Just hold people.

I will not only hold but also buy more.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: July 22, 2018, 05:58:27 AM
Maybe moving some % of BTC into ETH is a good diversification strategy, while it's cheap?
This is a safe investment method. You should not invest too much in Bitcoin because if you do that, you will be riskier than splitting a few assets to invest in ETH. At present prices are very cheap, you should buy ETH today

What do you think of BCH. Shall I move BCH into ETH?
3  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-22] Bitcoin Price to End Year at $10,000: Mike Novogratz on: November 22, 2017, 05:14:31 PM
So you can talk about anything, raised Mike Novogratz from 11 000 to 14 000 or not we can not check it, in order to make sure of his words.

I think we can check if he is right in 6 weeks.
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: Catalan Freedom Crisis on: October 20, 2017, 06:44:43 AM
Is it possible for the Bitcoin community to lobby the Catalan government so that they can use bitcoin as the official currency?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What to buy after the corrections? on: August 22, 2017, 10:47:32 AM
Hi All,

Whichs alts are you buying right now?

I am buying the Bitcoin Cash, it is quite good.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: May 27, 2017, 05:43:35 PM
In february I swapt my BTC to ETH, good call Smiley

I think you have made 10 times more money.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: April 07, 2017, 09:48:44 AM
I think the more digital currencies that exist the more opportunities to trade. Ethereum as well as other cryptocurrencies each have their own unique features, but when it comes down to it, it's all about making a profit from them. Yes, I've diversified in eth along with other ones.

Apart from ETH, the Monero and ZCash could be a good choice.

Most good altcoins are rising a lot recently. People start to recognize their values.

are they good because they're rising, or are they rising because they're good? there is a critical difference.

If a coin rises most of the time, like the bitcoin or Ethereum, then it is a good coin.

Just because a coin pumps up like ETH or BTC, we cannot call it a good coin. Nowadays, we got lots of pump groups who just pumps coins to attract innocent traders and investors and to trap them. You will need to look at the road map and the team before supporting and investing into a coin. For trading, you can go along with the flow. But be careful to book profits at the right time.

A pump and dump coins is not good. But if the price rises in the long term and it is properly developed, it is a good coin.

I think the Ethereum is more mature now. It is not a pump and dump coin any more.

It's not a coin at all anymore.

Do you mean the smart contract system?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: March 02, 2017, 10:17:09 AM
i think ethereum can become an investment option once again soon.
it has started to show some signs of accumulation and small rises, and i believe since there has been some time when the dumping had begun, it is the time for a pump to come and  a big pump for that matter.
Bitcoin is in a good shape now which is not good news to any alt because much of the money that could be use to create pumps on the altcoins market now it is tied to bitcoin.

Not really. Once BTC reaches a high, people look to book profits.
They may convert their bitcoins to fiat or other alts as well. This could benefit the altcoin market as a whole.

It seems people are converting their bitcoin into Ethereum now.
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: That's time that's sure : we are in a pump on: February 25, 2017, 10:19:49 AM
I am stunned...I don't even know what to do with my BTC right now.  I want to keep holding, but I could buy so much useless stuff right now for cheap...

...but if I do that, I know the price will shoot even higher....

The only thing you should do with btc: hold

Or gamble with it Cheesy

But never sell your btc, when it'll reach 5k you'll be more than sorry xD
There will be still plenty of buying opportunities before we rise to $5k. I don't see it in any foreseeable future. Despite all positive price development recently, it is still just another ball game.

that is right. If you think the price will go to $5k, it is better to buy now.
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: That's time that's sure : we are in a pump on: January 05, 2017, 04:51:57 PM
And down we go. See you at low $800s high $700s.

Really?

Not really. The price is over $900 now.
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: That's time that's sure : we are in a pump on: December 22, 2016, 09:21:04 AM
That is just crazy! Such a fast rise! Do you guys think that bitcoin will continue to grow with the same temps? If yes we will see the price 1000$ in few days already!

I hope the price will stay below $900.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: December 08, 2016, 09:59:43 AM
This could be the cause: https://twitter.com/tensorjack/status/806084099202945024

If this is true (at least partially) then a huge bounce can happen with so many shorts in the .009 and .01 area...

Yeah, I saw that. I wouldn't ascribe too much of ETH's fall to just that one guy, but 760K is certainly a possible bottom for now.

Not to worry too much about the Eth price. It is rising at the moment. It is 0.0115 bitcoin, almost 15% from yesterday.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH under 10$!!! on: November 23, 2016, 06:10:55 PM
Some problems are hard to predict in such a new technology. Every fix makes the blockchain stronger. Hardforks arent necessarily bad.
Even the holy non forking ETC is doing hardforks Smiley

So maybe after 10 more fixes, the price will start rising.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: November 15, 2016, 08:01:45 AM
As  i  observe on eth  too  it stabilizes  its price somewhere  on  10-10.5$ which  is   low  already compared to  its previous price  of $15 each  but  still  its  high  though. Same as  others think  here  this is the  lowest  price of   eth  thats why  its  ideal to  buy  more eth  now   and  i think  this coin would  really have a good  potential  on   longer terms  just  like what  happen on  bitcoin  when  it was just starting.

If the ZCash price stablise in the $10 range, it means the initial investors into the ZCash developer company will lose money.

I feel the same way, ETH could still go lower but you are pushing your luck, this is the time to buy before there is any sort of big announcement. It didn't dip below $10, just temporarily. Hey I would love to get it below $5 but that's not gonna happen unless there are devastating news (like actual devastating, much more than a fork/hack like the DAO!).

The price in terms of BTC is a steal too, which was in pump mode for the last month like I called it. Bitcoin won't cross $800 price anytime, every year it appreciates a little but people expecting 1, 5 or 10k per Bitcoin now are deluded.

BTC will level out at $650 or so, it's way oversold already and if the stock market continues to be bullish we'll see it drop along with gold.

Is Ethereum going to hard fork again? If the next hard fork can solve many problems, the price could rise.

Yes a new hard fork is in the works, I don't know much about the details but it will be a major update not just some hotfixes against recent attacks. I think they will add functionality for Swarm which is Ethereum decentralized storage solution, so this could be another milestone depending how it goes.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/5afory/update_hard_fork_block_number_delay_10312016/

Due to continued rigorous testing that is being conducted across multiple client implementations of Ethereum, we are going to need to delay the announcement of the upcoming hard fork block number. Sorry for the delay. The development teams across the ecosystem are working very hard to make sure everything will go smoothly. An update specifying a block number will follow. Thanks for your patience.

For technical details about the changes in the upcoming hard fork, reference this post.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: October 28, 2016, 08:18:00 PM
i wonder how much BTC is hurting ETH? I thought after the hard fork  that everyone would switch, I was totally surprised on what happened afterwards. It almost makes me wonder which one to keep. But, I think ETH will stay on top, but it would help if ETC would go away, but probably won't happen soon.

The ETH is not hurt by the bitcoin. It is hurt by the ZCash. More funds will be diverted into the ZCash in the short term.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum - Time to buy or time to sell? on: October 20, 2016, 07:33:12 AM
this now right time to buy etherum
after release second hardfork ethreum can trend up price

That could be right. But the Etheruem price is still below 0.021 at the moment. Maybe more attacks coming.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum - Time to buy or time to sell? on: October 09, 2016, 09:53:43 AM
I think time to sell if the price didn't go up significantly during Devcon I don't think there is any fundamentals to drive the price up for now.

I hold some ETH at the moment and honestly I don't know what to do with them.
Selling at this price doesn't make much sense, nor does buying at this price makes sense, since it's actually quite high.

Luckily I don't have a lot.

The Ethereum is under constant development. So the price could rise in the long term. But for the short term, the price is volatile.

You might not have noticed, but ethereum is under attack.

What began over two weeks ago with spam attacks that led to large-scale ethereum node outages has escalated into a battle that has pitted the platform's developers against unknown antagonists. This might sound like an exciting Hollywood movie, but it's mostly been carried out on message boards and with code.

Shots were first fired at ethereum's big developer conference, Devcon2, with a mysterious message written in German and delivered via transaction method payload. The message said "Go home", but to those who have been following the network's contentious changes this summer, the full meaning was clear.

Since then, block creation and transactions have continued to be impacted, with nodes syncing up to the network more slowly. But while various fixes have since been implemented, the attacker continues to find vulnerabilities to exploit and, in turn, create new ways to launch denial-of-service (DoS) attacks.

The result: the network is being flooded with transaction spam.

Blockstack co-founder Muneeb Ali called it a "cat-and-mouse game" that could potentially continue to slow down transactions on the network, the second most popular by market cap.

Most of the attacks have thus far affected nodes running the Go-version ethereum client (Geth), the most popular implementation of ethereum, though Parity, an alternative client released at the conference, has been impacted in some instances.

The latest release, called "Dear Diary", aims to stop the "root cause" of many of the attacks with a technique called "journalling."

Anatomy of an attack

One problem that has emerged for client developers is that those behind the attack are constantly switching their tactics.

The attacker or attackers are deploying smart contracts to the ethereum blockchain, and then committing transactions that impact how clients handle data, slowing them down to the point that blocks and transactions become delayed.

(For a peek into what's going on, see the barrage of small transactions sent by the attacker to overwhelm the network).

The first line of attack targeted an out-of-memory bug, which the Geth team moved to fix in a subsequent software update.

"In ethereum one of the challenges is that we have this huge database that grows much faster for example than bitcoin," said ethereum developer Péter Szilágyi, who works on Geth, adding that the attackers have taken advantage of this issue.

"We never thought about this attack vector," he added.

The focus on Geth has prompted some users to spin up nodes using Parity. In the wake of the first attacks, most miners made the switch.

However, Geth is still by far the most popular client, numbering nearly 7,000 nodes compared to Parity’s 900, although the numbers are constantly fluctuating.

Meanwhile, Ethereum Foundation IT consultant Hudson Jameson chose to emphasize that the Geth team has been able to fix every issue that's been thrown at it so far. This argument was also stressed by ethereum miner Jonathan Toomim, who called the fixes, deployed within days, "impressive".

"The network will go on, and these nuisance attacks will stop eventually," he reasoned.

Yet for how long remains unclear. Each time Geth or Parity releases an update, the attacker finds a new vulnerability.

Those behind the attacks don't seem to mind the cost of doing so, having spent thousands of dollars worth of ether – the cryptocurrency of the ethereum network – to fuel the attacks.

"To date, the attacker has spent over $3,000 worth of ether, solely in gas-costs," Jameson estimated.

Impact on users

Many argue that the attacks are an inevitable result of the way ethereum is designed, and that it has a  "large attack surface."

More on-platform capabilities means that there are more opportunities for trouble, at least compared to other blockchain networks, which are less ambitious..

"The larger problem is that the way ethereum is designed. There’s too much exposure so the attacker can trigger certain things or send certain types of transactions," Ali said. "Think of it this way: ethereum allows people too much freedom over what they can do to someone else’s computer."

Even if Geth nodes are no longer crashing completely, however, it has resulted in an overall slower network, making ethereum less available to anyone who want to spin up a smart contract or send a transaction.

Since the attacks, some users have reported having problems accessing their funds with Mist, the popular ethereum wallet.

One user even observed when switching pools that mining profitability has decreased for smaller pools, which is potentially a concern for an ecosystem that doesn't want bigger miners to have more control.

The network is also more vulnerable overall if all of its nodes are not functioning properly.

"Causing large portions of the nodes or miners to drop off the network, or fall behind, is naturally rather severe, since such attacks can be a prequel to a double spending-attack," Jameson said.

However, some users seem unfazed, with many developers continuing to work on other projects. Two ethereum projects, FirstBlood and SingularDTV, held crowdsales to raise project funds amid the attack.

Finding a fix

As far as reducing the impact, developers have come up with ideas for how to fix the problem with medium- to long-term changes, in what Jameson calls an "ecosystem-wide effort."

"One of the solutions is to make it more expensive to perform these kinds of attacks," Szilágyi said.

He explained that raising the prices for certain ethereum commands might mean protocol-level changes to Metropolis, ethereum's next big software release that is intended to be more developer-friendly.

Jameson also mentioned rebooting the bounty program, through which developers can earn bitcoin for detecting and reporting bugs. "That way people can submit their flaws legitimately instead of attacking the network," he said.

However, his hope is that the detection of these bugs will make ethereum stronger in the end.

"In the long-term, these attacks increase the resiliency of the Ethereum network," Jameson added said, arguing that the diversity of clients handicaps an attack from impacting all nodes.

Role of the foundation

Others seem to think that it's unclear how quickly that ethereum will recover.

"The Ethereum Foundation is trying to downplay them and spin the situation in a good way, saying that attacks will help to harden the network," ethereum classic lead developer, Arvicco, argued.

While the comments are not surprising given that he leads an alternative project, they point to the overall sentiment of those who have been critical of the organization that funds protocol development and its handling of the situation.

Others remain uncertain what to take away just yet.

Ali said he thinks ethereum team has done a good job thus far in addressing the vulnerabilities.

Still, he suggested there might be no end in sight should ideological motivations to disrupt the network continue unabridged, but that this ultimately might be the best outcome.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH being dumped now! on: September 17, 2016, 06:22:15 PM
As I write this its getting dumped in polo. Now I'm sure its fake pump and dump and not the shift of interest from bitcoin.
I think Eth is not stable for now if you see the price at market it always ranged at 0.018 to 0.016 and its not stable some of trader and trying to pump the eth so they could sell their eth coin to make profit and there are chance that it will be dump again as fast and eth now is one of the best coin so far for me.

many are trying so hard to pump ether for a long time but they have been failing recently and i don't know what it is but it just doesn't want to go up anymore.

maybe the time of this coin is already up.

but i would love to see another big ether pump so we can all make some good profit. i miss riding the waves up to the top and cashing out on top.

Do you mean the price of Etheruem ?  I found the price of Etheruem is quite stable recently. The price is rising now.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum - Time to buy or time to sell? on: September 04, 2016, 09:23:39 AM
Give it about 3 months more and see how the price moves. The Ethereum foundation is running out of money and they have no choice but to sell their premine of ETH. Wait for this moment. The main problem is what whale is willing to buy a big load of ETH now that its reputation is tarnished and the ETH foundation was proven to be not trustworthy.

I think they also have lots of premine of ETC. So I think they will sell the ETC first and that is not good for the ETC.

I have not heard about the news of the intention of the hackers. If they like the ETC, they should say that now.

We should know the intention of the hackers in the next few days. He should get access the ETC very soon.

after dao now etc is being hacked? why cryptocoin like dao/etc is easy to hacked?

It is not the ETC is hacked. The DAO was hacked. The hacker should be able to convert the DAO to ETC now.

The price of the ETC is supprising high at the moment. It might indicate that the hacker will not sell the ETC soon.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum - Time to buy or time to sell? on: August 21, 2016, 03:10:12 PM
It's pretty stable nowadays. I'm buying small amounts and buying more if it goes down.

It is time to sell and only watch this. It would be a mistake to buy now because we do not anymore the future of Ethereum. Many companies are now turned of from it because of the incompetence of the Ethereum foundation. It will go through a slow collapse that have started after the hard fork. Be careful.

I do no think so. If you observe the price of ETC against the ETH, it dropped almost 50% in the last two weeks.
