Another one is you could get scammed. If you send 1BTC and get scammed, it's a lot better than sending 20 and having the same person run off with them. He didn't say he was sending them to himself, but it's a good idea to send a test transaction before-han, and don't send HUGE amounts to yourself at once, just in case something did go wrong. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

Hey, I'm looking to trade some iTune giftcards ($200 worth) for some bitcoins, and I was wondering if anybody knew a decent middleman I could use? I don't really trust the person, and I don't want to get scammed Sad. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone wants to sell me some Bitcoins, I have a standing offer of 13BTC for $200 ($150 + $50) worth of iTunes GC.

Thank you guys in advance!

I'm really interested in further browsing and posting in the forums. I'm trying to buy a few BTC, but it seems I can't post in that section because I have to wait 4 hours and have 5 posts. I know a lot more than the average newbie, I've gotten the 5 postcount by giving my input in the newbie sections about controversial topics, and I've posted in a few people asking about the trading business giving them proper trading practices to follow, to ensure they don't get scammed. I know all the basics of BTC's from researching on and off for the past few months, and I wish I had found this forum earlier because I've been on a few other forums trying to buy BTC's with no luck. Thank you so much for the consideration, I hope to be granted permission to post in the market section Smiley

You have to stay logged on for at least 4 hours, and have a minimum post count of 5. It's to counter-act the mass spamming that's been going on lately, so we don't have the forums filled up with stupid threads and hackers trying to post phishing links everywhere.
191  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will bitcoins be illegalized in 2013? on: January 05, 2013, 04:06:56 AM
Well, it's obvious that the large majority of Bitcoin usage goes toward illegal activities. I would say it's going to be frowned upon always, but it will never be completely outlawed. I could see in the distant future controversy over this topic once BTC become more widespread and popular and also stable out. If businesses were to accept BTC, I think it would help the name out. Even if they accepted them for 65% of their value, it's still a start, and look their making that much more profit.

Just for safe practice, I wouldn't send HUGE amounts at one time. Numerous things could go wrong, and then you're fucked because there's no way you can reverse the payments. I'd say spend an extra 1-2 minutes dealing it out in smaller increments, just incase something were to go wrong, you wouldn't lose everything you have, or a large portion of what you've accumulated.
193  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: paypal vs bitcoin on: January 05, 2013, 04:01:41 AM
The benefits of BTC far outweigh those of Paypal. With BTC's, you don't have to worry about chargebacks and anything like that. Paypal, you get charged back frequently when you're dealing with the blackmarket and forums that revolve around trading. Paypal charges fees as well, and there is microscopic fee's for BTC users. The only thing that I'd say PP has over BTC is security (I've heard of wallets getting hacked, and people losing their BTC's) and stability, and wider variety of usage. I'd say if BTC were to be accepted in a wider variety of places, the price would flatten out and become a lot more stable.

The best way to trade is to go in SMALL increments. It's only going to take an extra 5-10 minutes, and the benefits are great. You don't have to worry about losing $100's or anything. I do all my trades in increments of $20 or less, unless I truly trust the person. I haven't been scammed yet!
