I don't think you can login with confirming email, its just another level of security where they ask for verification when they find unusual login attempt to your account, try resetting password of your email account.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The worlds first Bitcoin master thesis about the ecosystem - in depth analysis on: February 08, 2014, 03:37:32 PM
Hello fellow Bitcoiners!

Probably should have done it in your native language.  English isn't your strong suit.  In the first three sentences I found these constructions to be at least awkward:
1) "and has been in nearly any financial media"
2) "near no fees for transactions"
3) "The thesis has looked at"

This is a terrible run-on sentence without clear subject...

"Bitcoin is interesting because of its properties: near no fees for transactions, anyone without
limitations can get an account and be a part of the global economics and it is an interesting
technological piece of work with many features built in which potentially revolutionize the financial
system according to some of the interviews."

Dude, you should have stayed with your natural language.

What university would accept that as a master thesis?
Thanks for your comment. It was a requirement to write it in English, so no choice from my side.

I hope the content makes sense anyhow.

Hello fellow Bitcoiners!

After many months of hard work, and help from you guys, I've finished my 100 pages long Bitcoin master thesis about the Bitcoin ecosystem.

It is somewhat academic, and there are some interesting conclusions. Some of the conclusions might seem very obvious (regulation is extremely important, cross-company cooperation is the next step), but I am sure many of you would enjoy to read parts or the whole of the report.

Give it a look if you want:
Download Bitcoin master thesis

If you want, you can also give it some love on Reddit Smiley

I will try to answer questions here as well as on Reddit. What are your thoughts? Smiley
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What literature to include for master thesis about Bitcoin? on: October 30, 2013, 09:38:22 PM
During the next six months, I am going to make a master thesis about Bitcoin.

Currently my working title is "Bitcoin as a disruptive technology". My main hypothesis is Bitcoin is changing the value chain in finance, which basically means huge disruptions can, and probably will, happen.

However, I would love to hear YOUR thoughts! I need a shitload of literature, and I am currently collecting that. So far I've basically taken all the top 10 papers on Google Scholar about Bitcoin (the official paper, two Bitcoins at the price of one, how to make Bitcoin a better currency) and some others.

I am not trying to cover Bitcoin from a technical angle (besides 5-10 pages which is necessary to understand its implications), but from a business+society angle.

- What literature would you include? Any ideas is MUCH welcome and appreciated Smiley

What's your masters' in?
E-Business (a combination of business, law and technology).

Anyone else: Thanks for the input Smiley Of course, any science is in English, so the report will be written in English as well. Luckily Indians with PhD's in English cost 5-10$ an hour, so they can fix all that spelling/grammar stuff! :-D

How many times can a person spell literature incorrectly in a post about a master thesis?

Thanks for your help. That really made a difference. (Oh yeah, and funny fact: most people on the forum is not born English speaker).

27  Economy / Service Discussion / Integrating with the Bitstamp API on: October 25, 2013, 09:43:23 PM
Hi everyone

I need to communicate with Bitstamp using their API, like buying/selling Bitcoins. I have made a lot of attempts, tried their support (which basically tells me to fuck off) and even StackOverflow can't help (I tried a bounty!).

Is there anyone who has tried to make an integration with Bitstamp? And if so, could you show some sample code?

Anyway, if you know code, you are MUCH welcome to look at the exact technical problem here:

28  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What exchanges to include? on: October 22, 2013, 01:15:07 PM
Wow, the BitcoinAverage API is really nice.

Does anyone have good experiences with other exchanges? Smiley

Thanks a lot for the answers so far.
29  Bitcoin / Project Development / What exchanges to include? on: October 20, 2013, 07:17:32 PM
I am creating a service, where I have to make implementations to different Bitcoin exchanges. In this scenario, I have the use case "Find the cheapest place to buy Bitcoins, and purchase for 100$".

Currently, I thought about using:
- Bitstamp
- Btc-E

However, some questions:
- Are there more exchanges we should consider? I don't see MtGox as a serious option and want to avoid them
- Currently Btc-E is 8$ cheaper than Bitstamp, why is that? Why would anyone ever buy the Bitstamp then?
- Are there always volume enough to buy at a consistent price at these exchanges?
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: How many Bitcoins do you own? on: August 31, 2013, 08:56:22 PM
Those with a lot of Bitcoins probably won't even vote or write it in a forum like this.
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to get information about a transaction (bitcoin qt rpc) on: June 21, 2013, 08:01:37 PM
Great! Thanks so much - it worked :-)

I hope this will be found in Google and help people in the future!
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to get information about a transaction (bitcoin qt rpc) on: June 21, 2013, 04:39:27 PM
I can use the getrawtransaction and get a response. My result for the 2nd transaction made:

01000000010000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000fffff fff0704ffff001d0104ffffffff0100f2052a0100000043410496b538e853519c726a2c91e61ec1 1600ae1390813a627c66fb8be7947be63c52da7589379515d4e0a604f8141781e62294721166bf6 21e73a82cbf2342c858eeac00000000

How would I go around and convert that to useful information? :-) There might be some relevant method, but I have been looking for some time now.

(Thanks A LOT for helping by the way)
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to get information about a transaction (bitcoin qt rpc) on: June 21, 2013, 04:18:29 PM
Ok, my experience:
I cannot get transactions OUTSIDE my wallet... Any ideas how to do that?
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to get information about a transaction (bitcoin qt rpc) on: June 21, 2013, 06:18:39 AM
Danny:
Unfortunately, yes. Should it be working by the TX-id like i've described?
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / How to get information about a transaction (bitcoin qt rpc) on: June 20, 2013, 08:45:39 PM
I am a newbie when it comes to Bitcoin qt, so the question might show that :-)

I am iterating blocks in the blockchain, and builds up a list of transactions. I do this by reading the JSON response of a block:

var transactions = response["result"]["tx"];

So a tx example is:
4a5e1e4baab89f3a32518a88c31bc87f618f76673e2cc77ab2127b7afdeda33b

Now I want to find information about this transaction (how many Bitcoins was transfered).

I am trying to call the "gettransaction" function with the tx above as a parameter.. However I get a "Invalid or non-wallet transaction id (code -5)".

So I guess there is something very obvious I've missed? :-) Any guesses?

36  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will trigger the next big rally? on: June 02, 2013, 07:57:16 AM
All the new services I suspect are being build around the world right now. Remember, it's 2 months ago the hype was there, and when listening to investors it sounds like stuff is being build right now.

When those are released, I suspect they bring partnerships into Bitcoins which are very interesting, which will lead to higher prices.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [1 BTC Bounty] What is Bitcoin? on: June 01, 2013, 04:35:33 PM
Bitcoin is a new payment system where you can send money like an email at very low fees.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We need to find out some real use of bitcoin on: June 01, 2013, 12:32:01 PM
Real use?

  • Remittance
  • Gambling
  • Services in the grey area (for instance a seedbox)
  • Freelancing (imagine if Elance, Odesk or Freelancer.com jumped on the wagon)
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin-Qt / bitcoind 0.8.2 (final) available on: May 29, 2013, 09:41:45 PM
Great job! I will download it now :-)

Thanks for the great work.
40  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-05-22 RT Crosstalk - Bitcoin Ecosystem (Amir Taaki rules the show) on: May 26, 2013, 03:38:41 PM
I don't think Amir Taaki will be invited again soon :-) He was embarrassing and wasn't able to answer questions in a good way (who cares about his sister?).

Glad Daniel was there to save the day...
