141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 24, 2017, 11:57:08 PM
What a moron he is.  He goes out of his way to manipulate the price and then makes some statement about how XMR is not for "pumping"?   It has to be some kind of insider deal where he essentially bought and then pumped the price higher himself and sold/shorted with his "announcement".  Either that or he is just a pure idiot, plain and simple.

I also question his actions but this is FUD.
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 24, 2017, 11:55:58 PM
On twitter, people have been remarking that there were huge short positions opened just before "the announcement".

Of course. What do you think ? Do you really think XMR insiders haven't take any advantage on this ?
"Not your personal pump vehicle" uh ?

That was an awful move Monero, you'll regret it.
Spread the word. Tomorrow XMR insider pump scam on Coindesk.

Is there proof? This kind of FUD is typical for the cryptosphere.

Monero is not responsible for Fluffys actions. He probably acted on his own.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 24, 2017, 11:03:49 PM

Kind of genius. I applaud him. Perhaps a good time to buy.

Can we open some champagne please!

Has anyone heard of this project?

Any thoughts?
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nexus - Pure SHA3 + CPU/GPU + nPoS + 15 Active Innovations + More to Come on: March 25, 2017, 01:20:25 AM
Hello! How can I make a Nexus Earth paper wallet? I've tried looking for instructions, but couldn't find them anywhere. Is there any way to export keys, a mnemonic seed, or anything that I could use to restore a wallet from a piece of paper?

You could also go to help>debug window>console and type dumpprivkey <NexusAddress> and write those down.

I could also do this on an offline computer, right? Open the wallet, create a new address and dumprivkey the private key?

How do restore the private key in a synced wallet?

Thanks!

If more people would hodl instead of constantly speculating on micro movements the price would be much higher but perhaps it's still worth it to them. All my friends lost in the long run though, I prefer hodling.

149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 21, 2017, 06:57:54 PM
How come every time I buy XMR it falls lol.... fuck... it's a good coin and has potential, but never manage to catch it at the right time

Because Monero tends to drop.
Usually the rises are fast and take relatively short period and then the downslide will start and it usually takes months after months.

This is ridiculous, look at it in $ terms, it's hardly moved for days, it went from 22.40 one day ago to 21.80 now. It was at 13$ ten days ago. Talk about ungrateful and demanding...

The $ chart is much more reliable because BTC moves so much. The pattern for the last months has been (in $ terms) upwards movements and holding the level in between with small fluctuations around 1-2$. It was the same when it was going sideways and fluctuating between 10 and 13$.

150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / new blockchain - has someone heard of this? on: March 21, 2017, 03:16:42 PM
A friend, he's rather old and knows nothing about crypto, wants to invest here

http://newblockchain.net/wordpress/en/

It seems like a very badly executed scam to me but it's interesting how they placed triggers that appeal to my friend (swiss company, investments into non tech assets etc.).

So, has anybody heard of this?
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 18, 2017, 11:50:02 PM
I had recently read another interesting article about this: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-03-18/signs-silicon-valley-tech-bubble-about-burst

What effect would the bursting of the silicon valley tech bubble have on crypto? On the one hand money could flee into crypto, on the other hand trust in fintech could take a hit...
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 18, 2017, 10:12:48 PM
I just read that AlphaBay is now accepting Ethereum as a coin. I think that this won't make XMR's life easier. Especially not when all are in the hype of ETH.

Sad that XMR couldn't really use the momentum. But hey it has always a positive side. We probably can rebuy at 0.0080 again soon Smiley I hope so very much. But staying at this is also ok or going higher...but I am happy sold at ATH...always found a greater fool Cheesy

There is no such thing as the fight for the ONE crypto. The future will hold many cryptos just like different currencies.

XMR has enjoyed plenty of momentum, within the last two weeks the price has gone up almost 100%. In November the price was at 4$ and now it's at 20$. This pace and growth rate is perfect.
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 18, 2017, 04:14:00 PM
More Monero volume on Polo than Dash....

Price is nice - and if rangedriver is right, well - who needs marketing, rather than superior tech?

Dark coin. And that's why it is threatening bitcoin soon....  Embarrassed

Are you serious? Or just trying to pump your little dash stash because you know you're sitting on a ticking time bomb?

All the people in crypto who are not just some pump and dump investors but have a little brain wouldn't touch dash with a ten foot pole (except of maybe Roger Ver who is pumping dash for his own BTU agenda cause it's the cheapest coin to pump and because it's in reality the smallest threat to BTC).
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 17, 2017, 11:56:10 PM
@KeyJockey

I disagree. Even if Dash is pumped to a 1000$ it has not "won", too many people will never trust Dash, there are just too many warning signals.
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 17, 2017, 03:16:13 PM
I don't know why people get so intimidated by Dashs pump, given it's a big pump but that's what cryptos do. It's a good thing Monero is not growing that fast, that just leads to the inevitable dump. Monero is growing at a perfect pace.

No way that Dash is going to replace Bitcoin, it's probably going to replace Auroracoin.

Re: Rumours That Dash Will Kill Bitcoin

Since everyone else is too lazy to do this, I will:

BitcoinDash
Controlled by a decentralized blockchain(coming centralized)
Distributed worldwide nodes controlling network
(distributed ≠ decentralized)
Protocol doesn't pay the money supply to insiders
Doesn't require corrupt lie of governance
(democracy is always a power vacuum)
Doesn't have Two-tied network corruption
(c.f. prior 2 line items)
Doesn't have steal funding from the money supply
(c.f. prior 3 line items)
Scalable, secure subsecond payments
(5 seconds much too slow for interactivity needed for microtransactions)
Technically sound anonymity

156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 03, 2017, 03:10:39 PM
We are recovering a bit.

Back up to 0113

More than recovering if you look at it in terms of dollar/xmr. I find that to be somehow at least as relevant, especially lately when bitcoin was moving dollar/xmr was often very stable.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: February 11, 2017, 12:45:54 AM
Do any of you (who believe mainly in xmr and maybe btc) recommend having a few eth as hedge?

After all I read I don't have a lot of faith in eth but thinking maybe just a few just in case...

Thanks!

15$ by mid year seems very possible without even being very bullish.
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: February 10, 2017, 01:25:31 AM

Do you think we will see a major Monero rally (in terms of bitcoins) this year?

With my limited knowledge I think it's very possible or even likely but it depends very much how BTC will develop and of course other factors like coinbase adoption, hard wallets (perhaps a minor factor) etc.

It's fascinating how stable Monero has been in dollar terms recently.

Sometimes I think that a symbiosis between BTC and Monero would be perhaps even more favourable than just Monero dethroning BTC because BTC would give Monero and extra layer of protection from regulatory powers. Any thoughts on that?
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: February 09, 2017, 08:00:29 PM
It seems so many investors are pussies. Governments and central banks can't shut down cryptos but they can sure bring the price down. Two exchanges in China freeze withdrawals for a month in order to implement new security measures and investors are crying about bans and the price of BTC crashes. It's ridiculous.

This regulatory measure might be a good thing by eliminating ponzi schemes within these chinese exchanges and thereby reducing volatility and might be even an indication of China planing to officially legitimise BTC and therefore improving the infrastructure beforehand.

160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: February 01, 2017, 08:30:44 PM
Thank you, yes I know. Sorry, I am asking here but I guess discussing btc has enough relevance for Monero.
