Bit less than 28 hours to go...
405  Economy / Auctions / [AUCTION] ASICMINER - 33 direct shares on: May 30, 2013, 07:41:35 PM

Up for auction are 33 direct (not passthrough) ASICMINER shares.

I own quite a few more and am pretty bullish about ASICMINER but I need some funds.

Starting price: 2.45 BTC
Minimum bid increment per share: 0.01 BTC
No minimum bid quantity.

Please post your bids in the format e.g. 2 @ 2.5.

Another bid by the same bidder will replace his previous bid unless stated otherwise.

I will accept escrow with a reputable forum regular if arranged and paid for by the buyer. But I am asking friedcat to confirm that I own sufficient shares. Hence, I believe that with such confirmation I can be trusted (despite my lousy post count).

Payment is required within 24 hours from end of auction and provision of payment address.

After receipt of payment and winner's BTC address for dividends I will inform the same to friedcat with the request to transfer the shares.

This auction will end earliest on 1/6/2013 at 20:00 h UTC.

Every valid bid placed during the last 5 minutes extends the auction for another 5 minutes (counted from the timestamp of that respective bid).

Forum timestamp applies.

If something goes wrong with the transfer (which I doubt but you never know...) I will forward any received dividends to the rightful owner.

In case I missed any info or something is unclear, please feel free to ask.

Happy bidding! Smiley

Timer removed. End time: 2013-06-01+20:01:10UTC

With regard to growing Asicminer's total hash rate to more than the current 20s%...

An attacker who controls 30% of the network has a 20% chance of solving 6 blocks in a row...so even though we are not the dreaded 51% attacker, the network would still be exposed to some risk by friedcat having 30%.

Moreover - if friedcat does get 30%, imagine that competitor pools of total size 40% gets taken out (eg ddos). Now Asicminer's 30% suddenly becomes 50% of the total, and again we are the attacker.

Following your logic... But that some competitor pool would have 40% is OK?

EDIT: Sorry that I cannot type as quickly as you are editing your post without tracking.

Could this have to do with the bug in bitcoind that caused invalid blocks being generated?

I believe there was a fix for that only yesterday. And maybe ASICMiner have not yet applied that bugfix.

Could somebody who is not a n00b like me please answer my question?
408  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 22, 2013, 04:54:36 PM
Show me a conventional mutual fund with dividends equal to Asicminer and I will give you a back rub with a happy ending!

That was never the issue. The issue is facts. I'm merely correcting his statement that not all mutual funds manage billions in assets.

Some mutual funds charge a front-load, transaction fees, or 12b-1 fees. But not all. If you have a brokerage account, you can always take advantage of no-load, no-fee funds. So I'm not sure vortex1878's point reflects "most" funds.

Past and current returns from AM have been stellar. Whether future returns are as good (or better) is pure speculation, or at best an educated guess, just like on Wall Street.

Whether 5% management fee is too much, too little, or just right, is ultimately for the individual investor or the market to decide.

I agree on your point regarding a brokerage account. But I believe buying a TAT 1/100 PT on bitfunder etc. can be more compared to buying a fund in an ordinary custody account, and there you normally pay 5% issue surcharge.

a conventional mutual fund manages billions are dollars worth of assets.

Take a look:

http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bestfunds/index.html

Some of the top funds holding billions in assets have a fee of <1%. Other top funds (mid-cap) hold far less than "billions" ... more like in the 100s of millions.

True. But you forget here that most funds have an issue surcharge of 5% that you pay when you buy them.

Follow up: 1 Month on, is everyone happy with how the Auction went?

Let me know either way, always good to hear.

Who would be unhappy with recent dividends and shareprices?! Unless he has sold in the meantime... Wink

Then would you be okay to leave that happy feedback:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=57180

Done.

Was the first time I gave such a feedback in this new functionality here. I hope it is to your satisfaction.

https://btct.co/ seems to be down at the moment. Does anyone here know what happened?

btct.co under ddos attack :-(

Could be. But that news on reddit is 6 days old, you genius.  Grin

Updating my price : 17 @ 1.92

Also, for the record but, I'd like to see proof that this shady pm bidder makes his payment. If I don't see this proof, I expect I (and the other bidders) to pay according to a sheet drawn up without his bids forcing us to bid higher that he would have had he never bid at all.

+1

I am pretty chilled. I did not attack friedcat at all. I do agree with everything above, and never stated anything contrary.
Maybe you should all calm down. As soon as somebody states a little hint against your cash cow, you freak out.
Btw I am all in. But you are just mongos...
Friedcat, please answer my questions.

I think everyone who responded was pretty nice to you, and we get called names in return. OK Roll Eyes

Maybe I got carried away because I got just a few shares and a very small *****. Sorry. Peace.

Fair call but I just found out I'll be staying on for a couple more weeks (I'm away with work).   I was supposed to be done tomorrow.  Bad timing all round but I only thought to ask after I'd posted here, I should have checked with the boss first Sad

If necessary I can probably work something out, somehow, but I only have my phone and only then when I'm on wifi.  I can access my box from here but it'd be a massive pain in the arse and I don't want to screw up while I'm away.

If cancelling isn't an option that's for enough, this isn't your fault.

So how is your stepmother doing?
