This was quite horrifying. Couldn't keep going past 0:30. If it wasn't so autotuned and whatnot, it would be tolerable.

They aren't already? Turkey doesn't sound like the type of place to allow any kind of free speech.

$ vanitygen 3point1415926535 Prefix '3point1415926535' not possible Hint: valid bitcoin addresses begin with "1"
Anyone know how to make a vanity multisig address? (multisig addresses begin with 3)
You can do vanitygen -X 5 3point1415926535 To get addresses beginning with 3, but that would still be an invalid address. But by requiring multiple signatures, you can make a valid address beginning with 3. Example: 32wRDBezxnazSBxMrMqLWqD1ajwEqnDnMc ( https://blockchain.info/address/32wRDBezxnazSBxMrMqLWqD1ajwEqnDnMc) What magic is that? Is that some sort of "shared adress" where you -or rather the group controlling it- can only spend BTC if all sign? Basically. You can have 3-of-3 so everyone has to agree to send the coins somewhere, 2-of-3 so only two of them do, etc. If I remember correctly, one of the "Silk Road replacement" sites uses 2-of-3 addresses for escrow. If the buyer and seller have no issues, they both agree to release the funds to the seller. If the buyer and seller disagree, the marketplaces mediates and either releases the funds to the seller, or returns them to the buyer, depending on which side they think is more trustworthy. This is nice because even if the site goes down (ie Silk Road), the buyer and seller can finish their open transactions without the market (unlike Silk Road's escrow system where if the site goes down everyone is screwed).

Regulations are irrelevant. Bitcoin is Bitcoin. If governments want to make their own little pathetic attempts to ban Bitcoin, that's their right (except it's really not), but as long as it's legal somewhere, everyone can continue using it without issue.

I can see myself doing this one day.
But yes, as has already been mentioned, it would be painful to accidentally leak your private key and have to get the tattoo redone with a different address.

Discuss So basically MtGox is being sued in Canada and UK? How does winning in one of those countries gets you anything if MtGox was a Japanese business? Posted from Bitcointa.lk - #ecGhyJwWm7MNUYxyIt's an American business headquartered in Japan. I'm sure Japan and the USA would both cooperate with a lawsuit in Canada.

If you want to securely store a wallet in an insecure location (such as cloud storage), then yes, the method you described is safe as long as you use a good password.
The private key is a string of numbers and letters that allows you to spend the bitcoins in an address. If you want to export a private key, use "dumpprivkey" in the Bitcoin console. This is normally useless though, because even if you export the private keys for all your addresses, almost all your bitcoins are stored in addresses you can't see, called change addresses, so most/all of your coins will be lost.

Yes I read the OP and I would love a bacon sandwich can I get a drink and fries with that ?
Why do I feel an urge to participate in the fruitless endeavor which this thread has always been? Are any threads on this forum fruitful?

People think the SATs are racist because they "use words designed to confuse minorities". If you can claim this and get people to believe it, you can claim anything is racist.

Really Mark? You're against surveillance by the US government, are you? Last I checked, when you're the creator and majority shareholder of a site, you do have some say in whether or not you pipe everything that happens on the site directly to the NSA.
