221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is DOGE too big too fail? Will the Bear market ruin faith in all digital coins? on: March 12, 2014, 07:46:30 AM
Despite the authors' intentions of it being a joke, you could argue based on the combination of user base and market cap that it's the most successful coin to date, surpassing even Bitcoin.

Is "addiction" to a hobby an addiction?

Not if you think your addiction is itself a hobby. Do you?

The sword makes everything correct even addictions so I hear do you believe in addictions?
Have you misplaced your punctuation keys?
223  Other / Off-topic / Re: What will you do if... on: March 12, 2014, 07:38:47 AM
I would be like Mac on Always Sunny: come up with a badass plan, and delude myself into thinking I'm capable of executing it.
224  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Competing police forces/laws on: March 12, 2014, 07:23:27 AM
Anarchy is preferable to chaos/status quo.

The idea that we can just pass laws that make MANY MANY people criminals and then selectively enforce those laws only against people who are "troublemakers" or "the wrong kind" is incredibly offensive.

Laws should be few and very strictly enforced. Not so complex and irregularly enforced that everyone is a criminal and simply not charged because they have yet to piss off a cop or prosecutor.
What are you trying to say? Anarchy is chaos, and the status quo isn't chaos.

Do... Do they have computers? Or cell networks?
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ponzi accusations on: March 12, 2014, 07:06:42 AM
The only similarity between Bitcoin and a ponzi scheme is that in a ponzi scheme, the earlier you get in on it, the more money you leave with. In Bitcoin, even the late adopters will make money on it, and the end goal is that you never "cash out" like you would in a ponzi scheme.
227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An actual somewhat in depth news story on: March 12, 2014, 06:57:01 AM
I've seen a couple positive stories before, but nothing this in-depth.
It would still be nice to see one that explains why Bitcoin works in layman's terms, though.

Introducing TheEmperorPirates new no lose game:

That's a pyramid scheme isn't it?
Or is a ponzi a type of pyramid or vice versa?
229  Economy / Services / Re: new coin idea! what to do next? on: March 11, 2014, 11:54:08 PM
If you can't program it yourself, your only option would be to hire someone who can. Considering the literal thousands of altcoins, this won't be worth it. You'll get 2-3 altcoin fanatics mining for a few hours, then you'll be left with a dead network and a bill for whatever the coin cost to make.

Why do people use Android?

Don't you think having a bitcoin wallet app is good enough reason?

Are there any good wallet apps for Windows Phone?
Why in the name of god do you have a Windows phone?
Do you doubt the functionality of a Windows phone, or are there other reasons why you're implying it's not as good as other phones?
Have you not heard Richard Stallman's rants about free software? Does Windows' _NSAKEY not alarm you?

Just checked it, not good. I think these blackhats are working on double shifts these days i don't  like blackhats. anyways you can spread it yourself by posting it in the news section of the forum.
What the hell are you talking about? I looked around a bit, no issues I can find. Looks just like the old one.

233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It has begun http://bitcoinscrypt.org/ on: March 11, 2014, 09:46:51 PM
So it's Litecoin without the other non-scrypt improvements of Litecoin or Litecoin's massive user base?
Sounds perfect.
234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Co-workers talking about bitcoin.... so much misinformation still today on: March 11, 2014, 09:45:26 PM
You never need to worry about Bitcoin being "shut down". Even if use of Bitcoin was made punishable by execution by chainsaw without trial everywhere in the world, it would take years to stop the network.

Good luck. To be brutally honest, the reason people need escrow is to avoid risking money with people who have stats similar to yours. Start by making small trades, build some positive rep to outweigh the negative.

Because feminists have no legitimate complaints (there are women CEO's, what else do you want)
You would be surprised about some feminists. This could very well be a troll, but I'm sure at least one person reading it agreed:
Quote
Allow me to introduce myself...

My name is Krista, otherwise known as "The Femitheist". I am a female, a feminist, and someone who believes strongly in True Equality.

Now, I will begin explaining this entry before I post the actual article... for your discussion, of course.

Women MUST and WILL have equality, and this is the ONLY way to achieve TRUE equality. The testicles of all males, which produce the majority of their testosterone, are the primary cause of their violent behavior. The testicles also attribute greatly to many of the health problems men experience later in life (such as prostate cancer and, of course, testicular cancer).

~:The Solution... International Castration Day.:~

It is my belief (which I consider factual based on my research) that all men SHOULD be castrated. Not only for their own safety, but for the safety of all innocent women and children.

And, to achieve this...

The entire world should have an international holiday known as: "Castration Day"

Males of all ages will be brought to the public squares of their cities nude, to stand together in a circle, as they await castration by a woman known as "The Castrator", who will be a woman chosen from the public much like a juror.

Girls of all ages will attend, lining the streets to cheer and applaud the males as they join the rest of civilized society.

It will be a free vacation for any working woman. And, young girls will be able to leave school to attend this glorious ceremony.

The males will then have one hour to get to know their Castrator. Their female "spouse" will also be able to choose whether or not they would like to milk the male in order to retain a sperm sample.

If the male is too young for a "spouse", their mother or closest female relative will decide.

After this, the men will be given anesthetics. They will be placed on a table, where their Castrator will then slice open their ball-sack, remove their testicles, and the excess skin, stitch them up and clean them up.

They will be given thirty minutes to rest after the procedure.

Once the males have all been castrated, they will be grouped together again for one last look before walking nude back to their homes.

The women will then return to their jobs, schools, et cetera, and rejoice in the completion of yet another successful ceremony.

Any man who tries to evade this holiday, "Castration Day", should be murdered wherever they
are found (treated as a criminal, as it will be a crime not to attend). Or, forced to attend.
Regardless of age.

Any woman who disagrees should be provided therapy in order to free her from misogynistic indoctrination.

This holiday should replace the day known currently as "Father's Day".

If this practice were adopted officially all across the world, all war, crime, and violence would end.

We would have a true Eutopia, where peace reigns, and men do only what they exist for...

Breed.

Labor.

SERVE.

Die.

Likewise, the change of their hormones would make them less aggressive, and thus less likely to rape. It would also provide them with better health throughout their life, as the testicles are a major cause of health issues in males as they age.

All will profit from this...

And, I believe this will come to be someday soon.

Thanks for your consideration!
237  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NSA views encryption as evidence of suspicion and will target those who use it on: March 11, 2014, 08:59:21 PM
This is why we need meshnet.

https://projectmeshnet.org/

Every connection is encrypted. The only way to connect to a server insecurely over meshnet is to openly publish your IP and keypair. It also gets rid of ISPs and makes you effectively your own ISP, removing the central points of failure from the internet.

Too bad only like 500 people use it ;_;

Satoshi
Surely he won't mind if 5 BTC go missing?  Wink

$atoshi will be waiting in hell when you die, and beat you to death with Model Trains
Good thing Satoshi Nakamoto, the group of people in Europe responsible for creating Bitcoin, doesn't have any Model Trains  Grin

I feel we should just be ignoring the Bitcoin Foundation. The more drama we start, the more legitimacy we give them.

It's a Tor link, no?  So probably malware.
Are you trolling? What kind of malware do you expect to get by visiting a text-only page in an up-to-date browser with Javascript disabled?
