21  Economy / Lending / Re: 200 BTC Loan @7% , Video proof Attached on: September 15, 2012, 05:58:16 AM
if 25BTC /block and difficulty  increase , 100% BTC will also increase
You do know it's the other way around, right? Seriously, this is a bad investment at this time.
22  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan request for mining equip still need 220/300btc on: September 13, 2012, 10:28:35 PM
Any equipment that would be obsolete once the asics start to ship will be moved to alternate currencies, there are several worthy ones up and coming.
You have heard of merged mining, right?
23  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: coins stuck in electrum client on: September 09, 2012, 07:28:26 AM
Same problem here. It will send anything up to the last few bitcoins. That's on 1.01.

Even if, bitcoin will just switch to quantum resistant cryptography and everything will be fine.
26  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is being crushed by its own weight on: September 01, 2012, 09:49:51 AM
There are several lightweight bitcoin clients (electrum, multibit) one can choose from. Maybe it's time the original clients stops being (so heavily) promoted on bitcoin.org.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Java 0-day Exploit. All browsers(Chrome included) are vulnerable. on: August 28, 2012, 07:08:33 PM
In Chrome;
chrome://chrome/settings/content
and tick the box for 'do not allow any site to run javascript'   To then enable it for a site you trust, you will see a small icon with a red x, at the far right side of the address bar. Just click it and select 'always allow javascript on this site'. Then refresh the page.

Java is not javascript. To disable Java click on Disable individual plug-ins... and disable Java there.

29  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Closing down on: August 27, 2012, 09:50:16 PM
It was the digital equivalent of that guy who sold everything and went to vegas to bet it all on red.... and lost.
You meant to say and won?

I have two more accounts to sell:

(User #258 of 373) Balance: 104.10337465 Next Payment: 7.18313285
Sum total of older accounts: 128232.37247678
for 50 btc

Sum total of older accounts: 131876.91439722
for 200 btc
What is the reason for the differing percentages?

The second one has a "gold membership" package and is therefore a little pricier, but it's well worth it!

Seriously, those are not my accounts but of two friends, that don't have enough posts to participate in this discussion, that's why I'm their proxy.

32  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: #BTCST Updates. Latest: August 26th 8:11PM EST on: August 27, 2012, 11:19:34 AM
But you know what... all the people who bought into this... are greedy opportunists. The type of people who believe the Nigerian Email scams. I hope they learn from this the way American homeowners did in 2008.

I sure did  Cry
33  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How could Pirate fuck your brains so well that even now many believe in him? on: August 26, 2012, 08:47:44 PM
BTC owed 500,000
Interest per day BTC 5000
Generated BTC per day 6x24x50 = 7200

So he would only need to generate 69% of all Bitcoins to make good for the interest, without paying back anything of the debt.

No, he would only need to generate 51% of all blocks to be able to repay all his debt with 1BTC. 51% with asics is fairly trivial right now.
For someone with 2700+ posts you know very little about bitcoin.

Gain 51% of capacity
Destroy bitcoin
Not this again... How exactly do you propose one would do that? *sigh*
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Results of dictionary attack on SHA256 hashed keys on: August 08, 2012, 08:26:19 AM
I recently played around with this myself and found that SHA-256("test") has been used: http://blockchain.info/address/1HKqKTMpBTZZ8H5zcqYEWYBaaWELrDEXeE
Funny story behind this address. Two of those transactions were mine, one was not. Someone was obviously scanning that address for incoming transactions, and snatched the rest. The set of transactions was from testing the commitcoin protocol, and at the time I was scared someone actually calculated the private key (which can be calculated from the first two transactions and the third transaction, that is now marked as double spend, since the corresponding signatures use the same randomness). Later I found out I forgot to set the flag that included 80 bits of randomness to the message (which as stated was "test"). Smiley
37  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: July 30, 2012, 08:35:18 AM
so the majority, i.e. >50% of the total "investors" in BCST have made money in your opinion?
I don't know for sure just like you don't know it's a ponzi, but I speculate so, yes. Pretty much all the big players have been in it from the beginning.

"you have no proof Micon!  I want to believe so badly that whatever scam I'm invested in or whatever scam I'm running is really my ticket to riches, so much so that I can easily put myself into a state of denial where I believe 7% per WEEK paid interest is in any way sustainable and not an outright, blatant, and obvious scam"

Thank you for manufacturing my posts.

No one said it was sustainable, in fact, even pirate himself said it isn't, and he will stop when it becomes unprofitable for him.

You also seem to think that everyone investing into this is an idiot. Majority of people have made money of it already and cannot lose anymore, since everything else is actually not their money anymore.

Anyway, that's all I'm going to say. This thread is hilarious Smiley
39  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: July 30, 2012, 05:45:22 AM
"lending" is not what I or any reasonable man of science would call this.
You call yourself a man of science yet you provide no  hard proof? Not sure if serious  Roll Eyes

Further more, who runs this board?

why can Pirateat40 lock his giant ponzi thread?
It's his thread, he can do whatever he wants with it (and so can you with yours)

Furthermore this whole thread should be moved to speculation  Roll Eyes

1)  does it alarm you in any way that Pirateat40 locked his thread?  Why do you think he would do that when he is holding $1M USD worth of BTC?   I think it's because he doesn't want the forum members that understand his scam explaining it in his thread.
I would do the same if I were him. People were spamming his thread with fud, what else is he going to do, when he has absolutely no control over the thread (this really is a shitty forum)?

2) You ask me for hard proof.  A Ponzi scheme, as defined by Wikipedia:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponzi_scheme  some highlights:

-- Typically extraordinary returns are promised on the investment,[5] and vague verbal constructions such as "hedge futures trading," "high-yield investment programs", "offshore investment" might be used. The promoter sells shares to investors by taking advantage of a lack of investor knowledge or competence, or using claims of a proprietary investment strategy which must be kept secret to ensure a competitive edge.
-- A Ponzi scheme claims to rely on some esoteric investment approach and often attracts well-to-do investors
-- Ponzi schemes can survive simply by persuading most existing participants to reinvest their money
-- Initially the promoter will pay out high returns to attract more investors, and to lure current investors into putting in additional money. Other investors begin to participate, leading to a cascade effect. The "return" to the initial investors is paid out of the investments of new entrants, and not out of profits.
-- Promoters also try to minimize withdrawals by offering new plans to investors, often where money is frozen for a longer period of time, in exchange for higher returns.

sound at all like BCST?

Proof Ponzi

Exactly as you said, it might sound like it, but this is no proof, only speculation.

3)  you seem to either be invested in BCST or running your own Ponzi - which is it?
Well, that really is none of your business Smiley
