True but I didn't read the other 999 trillion threads. I have another question. irrelevant what happens to the price in 10 years time will still have to buy bitcoin with fiat or can I buy bitcoin another way?

When valued against USD or GBP.
I know a lot of people believe it's gonna go to the moon.. or at least rise steadily into the 1000's of dollars and a lot of people believe it's a Ponzi scheme which will eventually leave Bitcoin worthless but what if Bitcoin does nothing, it just sticks around the £200 - £250 mark forever?

Use Circle and avoid lbc hefty markup.

Why speculate?
No one knows what will happen. You know no more than myself or my equally clueless wife. All we can do is best guess.

.info Disappeared?
What would happen to Bitcoin if Blockchain.info closed or disappeared tomorrow? Are there other sites that do the same job?

I bought into all these last year and seem to have made huge losses on them. Should I just say Fcuk it and convert them all to btc?
I also have some ripple.

The first space flight should be sponsored by Bitcoin.

I just wanted to confirm that I have bought more bitcoin using my stored debit card on Circle. It took just a few seconds. I am from the UK so maybe it's an issue with your specific account?

I bought from there using a debit card just a few days ago. I am from the UK. Ignore the notice and enter your card details and see what happens.

I use Bitcoin Core, mainly because I didn't realise there was an alternative and I am probably too stupid (and old) to use something like Electrum or Multibit.
Anyway, I hear that the blockchain is now 22GB and growing daily and takes around a full day to download. Why the hell would any new user use Bitcoin Core or bother to download the blockchain if it's not required and the big question:
What would happen if every single Bitcoin user switched from downloading the blockchain to software like Multibit?

This thread is epic fail. It was hard to buy BTC in 2011. If it wasn't I'd be kicking it in the Caribbean. <--- That's in honour of the 20th anniversary of Pulp Fiction.
It's really easy to buy BTC now. So buy it and stop complaining.
You are an epic fail. If you live in America maybe it's easy but in the UK it's not unless you want to buy at LocalBitCoins or BitBargain with their 20% markup. Places like BTC-e, Coinfloor & Coinbase just don't make it easy with their strict verification. I now recommend Circle using a debit or credit card. Works for UK.

So when bitcoin was at 300, it was the end of the world. Now, when it goes to 400, it's fantastic. People..
Personally I don't twitch an eyelid no matter the price, bitcoin is much more than the USD exchange rate.
qft (never used this before but now seems like a good a time as any).

Following my "The problem with Bitcoin is buying Bitcoin" thread I would like to report I found a solution and I am happy thus far.
Circle
Circle is ace.
I tried to use is a few month back and tried to link my bank account. This didn't work as they asked for routing numbers, something the UK don't use. A couple of days ago I tried linking my debit card to the account and despite getting a warning it was for the USA I proceeded and found I could deposit GBP and withdraw bitcoin within minutes.
So I would like everyone to be aware that you should use circle to buy bitcoin. You only need a debit card and you don't need to verify like most exchanges.

Bitcoin Core seems to have packed up. I have a message saying it's 15 hours behind and "No Block Source Available"
I tried restarting it but nothing. Any idea what's up?
|
|

I tried nothing. I didn't even download it yet. I just thought Bitcoin Core is too bloated and I should save space.

Title says it all really.

Perhaps localbitcoins should market themselves as exchange usd or gbp for bitcoin rather than buy bitcoin. Before you can even buy you need to download the whole blockchain.. How long does that take?

I already have a job. A shit job admittedly but a job nonetheless. My wife wouldn't like if I gave it up and went on a bitcoin crusade.
Sorry, I need to edit this post and LOL to my government giving a toss about Bitcoin,

Buying Bitcoin should be as easy as buying any currency. I should be able to go the post office and buy it over the counter or order it from a travel agent. Places like localbitcoins make you feel like you are buying a bitcoin (who buys currency, ever)? Sure you exchange it but buy..
We need employers to start paying in bitcoin.
Sorry if this post makes little sense.

Circle was the solution for me, it litterally took no time and i was up and running and had my bitcoins from a credit card instantly.
Yup I second that! Circle is the definitive site for buying bitcoin. I've bought BTC on a number of different sites but Circle really makes it super easy and it's pretty secure too. After linking your card to your account and you can upload money instantly which gets converted automatically to BTC at current market rate. No other site that I know of can get you BTC that fast. I got stuck adding a bank account to circle because they wanted a routing number, I am in the UK and we don't use routing numbers. I even called my bank and they confirmed they don't use them, it's a USA thing. The bank is santander.
