223  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Check Out This Site Powered Only On Bitcoin !!! on: July 15, 2015, 10:41:35 PM
I am using android and I found I couldn't do anything in either vertical or horizontal orientation.
Basically the page loads but I can't verify because I can't scroll down.
That's a pretty bad design flaw.

So I vote week.
224  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: send bitcoins to my phone. on: July 11, 2015, 09:55:57 AM
I wouldn't bother with Bitcoin Core either. Download multibit instead and send the coins to that address. You sound like a new user and would have no need to run the whole blockchain.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / My new way of getting rid of cold callers. on: June 27, 2015, 11:36:34 PM
We all get them, they come knocking on your door and the first thing they say is "don't worry I'm not here to sell you anything.. "

But, that's exactly what they are doing.  They are sales persons trying to earn commission.

We get them weekly. Windows,  roofing,  charities,  insulation,  solar,  the list goes on.

So today they knocked on the door again while I was about to have tea and I said the following.

I respect my privacy so if you are going to ask my name I'm not going to give it
If you are going to ask for my phone number or email address I'm not going to give it
If your going to ask for my bank details I'm not going to give them.
I am however happy to support your organisation and if you provide your companies bitcoin address I will make regular donations.

Then it got me thinking how would I setup regular standing Orders to a specific bitcoin address.
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whats the most expensive Thing you have bought with bitcoin? on: June 22, 2015, 08:29:36 PM
My web hosting for a year. £120 worth.

Not a huge amount but enough.
227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Announcement] Go Create! Childrens Creative Play Center To Accept Bitcoin on: June 09, 2015, 08:49:44 PM
Do you guys have a Bitcoin address, if someone want to make donations? Kids always have a soft spot in our lives.
I hope you are learning them a bit about Bitcoin too ^LoL^ Start them young on their road to success.
Please give us regular feedback, because we see a lot of people accepting Bitcoin as a payment option, but they seldom come back to share their success and failures for us to learn from.

Hi, Thanks for all your support. Of course we have a bitcoin address 17451gAxfX3HjN8iW1sQiLTMPiRzH1q8u4
We really want to make a huge success of the business and that children will come away from it with something they can be proud of.
228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So I guess people are using bitcoins for takeaway on: June 09, 2015, 08:28:38 PM
I use Takeaway.com weekly and I have used 3 different Indians from there. Unfortunately for some reason my favorite one has been removed (maybe they didn't pay their bill). Anyway, I ended up ordering from my second favorite and they got my order wrong again Sad
229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Accepting Bitcoin in a Bricks and Mortar Shop on: June 07, 2015, 11:08:01 PM
How do I add a business to coinmap.org?

1) go to OSM (OpenStreetMap) : http://www.openstreetmap.org/
2) on the right, tip on the "sticky" note (or bull icon).
3) move the sticky to your place
4) complet the sticky with "hello, it's my shop and i accept bitcoin, thank to add this !"
5) a member see this and draw the request.

I can't see any sticky note or bull icon.

231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [Announcement] Go Create! Childrens Creative Play Center To Accept Bitcoin on: June 07, 2015, 10:14:50 PM
I posted a thread a little while back asking the best way to accept bitcoin payments for a bricks and mortar business.

I am pleased to announce that on Saturday 13th June at 10am Go Create! will officially open it's doors to the children of Preston, Lancashire.

Go Create! is a fantastic children's creative play center. The Go Create! experience is all about enabling children to have the opportunity to make and create virtually anything they can imagine. The studio is tailored specifically for children and has tiny tables and chairs for children as young as two up to mid-size tables and chairs for 7-12 year olds. The studio holds a huge amount of creative play materials in brightly coloured drawers. Children can find almost as much enjoyment just looking through the drawers as actually creating!

As well as the Go Create! experience they offer messy play sessions for babies, toddlers and preschoolers which are truly unique and use materials you or baby are unlikely to have experienced before. They even have a Friday disco!

If you happen to be in Lancashire on Sunday 14th June 2015 at 10am do we have something special for you!! More information tomorrow..

The best part is that Go Create! will be accepting bitcoin payment!

You can contact Go Create! at http://www.gocreate-preston.co.uk or Facebook http://www.facebook.com/gocreatepreston

232  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Are People So Pigheaded About Future Bitcoin Price? on: May 18, 2015, 10:05:32 PM
It's really starting to annoy me.

I mean, the price of bitcoin has been falling for at least 15 months. It could will continue to go down, there is no guarantee way it will go up.

Yet you still get all these idiots going "if it drops I will buy more" ... How much lower you want it to go ffs.

"people are waiting for the price to go even lower so they can buy more coins" ... really?

I see what you did there.

236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Accepting Bitcoin in a Bricks and Mortar Shop on: May 16, 2015, 02:45:19 PM
Hi,

I run a retail shop in the UK and I am considering accepting Bitcoin.

I don't really understand how to do it.

I know I can create a QR code but do I need a QR code for each item I sell?

So, the customer comes in and wants 3 things, how do I do it?

Sorry if this makes little sense.
237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will Fizzle to Nothing.. on: April 02, 2015, 08:49:18 PM
Bitcoin is a 'thing' of the moment like the Harlem Shake.
I would love to know I can spend bitcoin anywhere, supermarkets, taxis, buses, local shops but I just can't see it happening.

Harlem shake you say..

Did the harlem shake last 5+ years "a moment", does it have anything to do with crypto or can it be spent?

Food, taxi's, supermarkets, takeaways. buses, right that is what will make bitcoin. The job is on you to get your local shop to accept it why are you so lazy and unhelpful if you love something? If you would "love" these places to accept it then stop eating and show them the power of this.

Good luck on your journey.

My daughter does taikwondo and today I was booking her class for next week and the owner was there with a saleswoman and they were discussing payments.
The form she was filling in was asking for cheque and she was saying she hadn't used a check book for years but she had found an old one at the back of her drawers.
They went on to talk about visa and saying they charge X percent..

At this point I could have piped in about bitcoin but I didn't,  I don't like explaining stuff and I am no salesperson.

I think op is just confused and disappointed by fact that bitcoin is not already main global currency. I understand him, I also think that brilliant concept of bitcoin should be already everywhere. But you need to remember that it is more like an evolution of current payment standards and not total revolution which will be take place over one night. Just be patient.

I managed to get this quote mixed up with another lower down.
You are correct, Bitcoin is brilliant and it should be everywhere.

239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will Fizzle to Nothing.. on: April 01, 2015, 09:43:30 PM
I couldn't care less about mainstream adoption.

As long as Bitcoin continues to solve certain problems for certain people, it will not "fizzle to nothing".

What problems does it solve?

I love Bitcoin I really do but I just can't see businesses adopting it like I wish they would.
Bitcoin is a 'thing' of the moment like the Harlem Shake.
The Harlem Shake lasted all of two weeks. We're on our 324th week, with a record high transaction rate.

I was in two minds whether I should mention Harlem Shake. The basis and thought is that it's a fad that will be forgotten about.
